Just returned to fishing after a twenty year break! Been out 3 times in recent weeks. Lewis is a young, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic skipper.Tremendously helpfully! He takes pride in putting you in the best place to catch fish! He will help and coach anyone at any level, from novice to experienced! With his help I managed to catch a 19lb Blond Ray and a 10lb Turbot, both PB.s and he has completely revitalised me to sea fishing!

Skippers Reponse: Thanks very much Richard glad that you’ve regained an interest in our great sport

Skippers Reponse: Thanks Ian. Hope to see you again

WOW!!! Lewis is such a competent, capable & enthusiastic young Skipper.
Steaming out into Lyme Bay in the early morning sunshine after a couple of days of bad weather our small crew quickly bonded & eagerly anticipated our 8 hour trip.
We visited a variety of inshore marks & fished anchored & on the drift. We caught a variety of species & tried many methods which Lewis quickly advised & provided the terminal tackle & bait for too that day.
Highlight was over 24 early season Black Bream! An amazing looking & fighting fish & my first caught ever!
Naturally we returned every fish caught & returned to Lyme with smiles on every face.
Many thanks Lewis for a a great days fishing we'll be back soon!

Skippers Reponse: Glad you had such a good day Paul. Hope to see you soon. Thanks Lewis

Lewis took my son and I out earlier today and we both had a great time. He is super knowledgeable and friendly, and made great efforts to ensure we caught lots of fish in different marks. Get yourself booked in!

  • 03/03/2019 Fishing Report by Lewis hodder

3 Mar 2019 by Lewis hodder

    February 2019

We managed to get out 11 days in February which isn't too bad at all, Inshore fishing has been getting better, we've had a great winter inshore, and now that the water temp is on its way up again the spring species seem to be feeding better with lots of Smoothounds in small to medium size range being caught in the later half of February, this along with 4 different species of Ray, Bull Huss, Conger, Whiting, Ballan and Cuckoo wrasse and the obligatory Pout and Dogfish make for a god fun days fishing inshore and has made for some very entertaining species fishing, the Reef Pollack are getting to a decent size now as well with fish over 10lb being caught on the inshore reefs in the last week of February, great fun on light gear. The fishing Offshore and to the east at anchor has been steady with Blonde Rays being caught over 20lb on the banks, the odd Spurdog, Ling and Undulate Ray and lots of Huss and Conger on the rough ground and reefs. Wrecking also improved a lot mid February, but a visit from the netters slowed the fishing down toward the end of the month although I still managed to find enough fish to keep everyone happy but nothing big with the best Pollack of the month at 13lb.
There are still weekend individuals spaces on a few dates in March, mostly offshore anchored trips.

13 Feb 2019 by Lewis hodder

Been a while since I last did a report here guys so apologies for that. Some of you may have heard about the poor Pollack fishing in general on the south coast wrecks so far this year, I put this down to many factors but last trip out it was just how it should be there was a huge improvement on the Offshore Wrecks for Pollack on Monday 11th February, heaps of Pollack for everyone, a cracking average size and a best fish of 15lb exactly. The inshore fishing this winter has been great, Whiting have been plentiful and of a good size, amongst the Whiting we have had Thornback Rays, Spotted Rays, Undulate Rays, Smoothounds, the occasional Spurdog, Huss and lots of Congers if the anglers want them. No less than 355 in 3 days of conger fishing at the end of Decmeber and there wasn't many straps. All in all pretty good when we can get out. Small tides this weekend so will be venturing offshore in search of Spurs for the first time in a while.
    Tight lines all,
    Lewis

15 Aug 2018 by Lewis hodder

Fishing continues to be mostly very good, with the odd slow day here and there. Inshore trips have produced lots of Bream up to 3lb, Plaice up to 4lb 8oz, a nice variety of Rays into double figures, the odd Bass up to 8lb , Red Gurnards, small congers, plenty of Scad and Mackerel and of course Dogsfish, Pouting and Wrasse.
Offshore trips on the anchor have been producing lots of small Tope, some good sized Black Bream and again
a good variety of rays with Blondes up to 16lb, Undulates to 14lb and Thornback to a similar size. A few individual spaces left for August and September. 07519160020 to book.

    May 2018 by Lewis hodder

May Report- What a month, awesome weather especially the later half of the month we managed 24 days at sea in May and today is the first day ashore after a spell of 17 straight days at sea.
Great to sea some early Bream being caught in one particular area, plenty of fish up to 3lb 9oz with 90% being returned due to the time of year. We’ve also seen plenty of pollack to low double figures, hounds to 7lb, huss to 10lb, Plaice to 2lb, small congers, 4 different types of wrasse, occasional tub gurnards and a few rays. There might of even been the odd dogfish and pout mixed in.... later in the month saw the arrival of a nice few mackerel, great to see them in good numbers at this time of year again.
Wreck fishing has been patchy, plenty of congers up to 50-60lb on the anchor if that’s your thing. Some days have seen a nice few cod and Pollack with Cod to 8lb and Pollack up to 14lb where as other days the fish have been extremely hard to find. We did have a first ever Coalfish on a crossing to Alderney in a mid channel wreck in late may and I have heard of a few more being caught not too far away, let’s hope this is the start of a comeback for the coalfish on the south coast.
Great to see so many anglers enjoying Lyme Bay and beyond though with plenty of old faces and a few new ones thrown in as well.

    June availability;

    Saturday 16th Inshore 8am-4pm £50

Friday 29th Inshore 8am-4pm £50 Bream, Pollack, Plaice

I also have the following dates available for whole boat bookings or individuals. 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th building tides all that week. There could be the possibility of a first go at a shark trip for the year?
