We run 2 and 3 day trips to France fishing the mid & far channel banks for Turbot & Brill in the Summer months (June-Sep) and when weather permits hitting those offshore wrecks that are just that little too far off to exploit on a days charter trip (Oct - May). These trips offer EXCELLENT value starting at £200 for two 12hr days. Our best 2 day trip in 2018 saw us boat over 100 Turbot & Brill and we averaged over 50 per trip. Whether you want to book the whole boat for your party or come along as a small group or even if you are an individual, you will receive the same warm welcome.

Our aim is to make your trip safe and successful. Whether you are a seasoned expert or a novice it is our job to do the best we can for you...... it's a commitment we take seriously.

About the Skipper:

Boats and fishing have been a fixture of my life. Learning to sail at the age of 11 racing lasers and 420's moving up to bigger boats and competing in International regattas from Sardinia to Cape Town as professional race crew, culminating in winning the Rolex World Cup. I have several transatlantic crossing under my belt on Superyachts (both sail & power) and have logged over 40,000 miles at sea.
My father taught me to fish and my skills were honed spending summer holidays on my Uncle's charter boat out of Portrush, Northern Ireland. I had the benefit of 40 years charter skipper knowledge handed down and my uncle continues to fish on Brigand regularly. I have fished out of most ports from Folkstone to Weymouth over the last 30 years and have first hand experience of some excellent and some not so excellent skippers, I have learnt something from them all.

    Most enjoyable 2 days fishing
Didn’t catch as much as we’d have like but that’s fishing
Skipper Steve did not stop trying to find fish
    Was very friendly and knowledgable
Asked what we’d like to catch and done his utmost to
    Find the fish.
Great boat plenty of room , plenty of ice for what we did catch
Definitely will be planning a return trip

  • 5-star paul hardy (17/10/2020)

7 of us went out with Steve, really nice bloke, was a good laugh, really knowledgeable, got us exactly where the banks and wrecks(and fish!) were.
He made sure the novices knew what was going on and we were all looked after (we booked the whole boat so we weren't messing anyones fishing trip up.
Definitely going to book him again, can't wait!!
Good on you Steve, personally my best days fishing this year
    Thanks Steve!!

Skippers Reponse: Hey Paul, thank you for taking the trouble to post a review. An absolute pleasure sharing the day with you all; great angling, comedy banter and interesting discussion - look forward to getting out with you again.
    All the best Paul

Thanks Steve, Great days fishing. The boat was excellent and we had plenty of room. Steve worked hard all day to put us on the fish, Brigand is my No1 choice for a days fishing in Brighton.

    Skippers Reponse: Hey Matthew,
A real pleasure having you aboard and thank you for taking the time to leave a review, very much appreciated.
I have a plan for your next trip out - just give me a weeks notice.

I normally do Lure fishing with Brighton Inshore fishing but fancied doing some turbot fishing and Robin Howard recommended Steve who owns and runs Brigand. Due to the weather not playing ball Turbot got cancelled and ended up doing offshore wreck fishing, to tell you the truth I was a bit apprehensive as I have never done this type of fishing but Steve communicated with me throughout from my booking to advising on gear and what not to get. On the day Steve and fellow anglers made sure I had right rigs and if I did’nt have I was given rigs. Steve works hard to put you on the fish ,watching him work shows his passion because he Grafts . I throughly enjoyed myself and will be booking again with Brigand Brighton Charters. Thank you for a wonderful Experience
    Danny

Skippers Reponse: Hi Danny, it was a pleasure having you aboard and thank you for taking the time to post a review. Looking forward to getting you amongst the double figure Pollock as wrecking builds, sure to put a big smile on your face
    Best wishes

Another cracking day out on the Ocean today, great weather, fantastic crew and fish to match.
Very poor conditions inshore so we decided to push on out far in search of better, which we can always find if we go far enough.
Started out far and worked our way back with a steady stream of small Bass & Pollock, mostly keepers but of no size. A quick flit between wrecks and we landed on one we haven't fished for 3 years that was holding good fish. Not sure of the total fish count but it was a heavy and healthy fish box at the end of the day with some perfectly conditioned fish placed on flaked ice.
Thanks to the wonderful crew for making the day so enjoyable, a real pleasure to be fishing with you today and well done on your catches chaps
Apologies for not replying to messages on here, we are so busy currently juggling boats & bookings but will get to them over the weekend as we have some snotty weather headed our way.
Plenty more wrecking trips will be loaded over the coming weeks as it reaches its peak for us and we start to see the Cod arrive and we've loaded an additional Bream trip for those that have asked for it - you can find all trips on our booking calendar here www.brigandcharters.com

14 Apr 2025 by Steve Green

Another stunning day out there today targetting those Big early season Bream on juts out second trip for these of the season. All regular anglers onbaord today that have been returning to fish with us for several years so expectations were high and it didn't disappoint. Simon Clark straight into Bream from the off. An excellent and very experienced angler I wouldn't expect anything less from Si and he was closely followed by the two Deans, brothers Brian & Les, Mike Dew and the very experienced and acapvle Bob Nunne:
Plenty of very good fish in the.1 1/2 - 3lb range retained and plenty of smaller ones let go and then.......... there was a lump of a fish landed! It could have fallen to anyone (I would have preferred that it did!) but as luck would have it this one fell to the skipper.
A very large Hen fish, packed with roe and in peak breeding condition. Fish of this stamp are exceptional, they have avoided predation, infection and capture for many years and the egg production of these very large is exponential- fantastic DNA there so back she went to hopefully produce more of the same.
A big fish full of roe should be treated gently if it's to be safely released so a quick couple of pics and away she went. Getting the scales out would been detrimental to the fish (ok when we are keeping them for the table) and as she was being returned speed was of the essence!
Comfortably the biggest Bream we've had aboard in the last 9 years, the biggest I've seen on a boat and the biggest all aboard had seen on any boat they ah e fished on - all we in agreement that it was in excess of 4lb so let's say 4lb....... I was just happy to see her swim away strongly.
A really chill day out there today with great company - Mike & Bob, thank you for the gifts, very much appreciated and Briand thank you for the promise of more of that wonderful smoked Trout
We will be runnning more of these Bream trips when conditions are right to target the higher quality fish - get in touch if your an individual or a group and we will do our best to accommodate you.

12 Apr 2025 by Steve Green

Brighton Bream fishing is off and running aboard www.brigandcharters.com!
Always a little nervy when we head for our first targeted trips of the year, today was Bream and the last 9 years of our catch records strongly suggested that we would be ok....... but until that first one comes over the side there's a fair bit of pacing up and down the deck!
Gavin soon put any concerns to rest with a nice fish of a couple of pounds and that was quickly followed by a steady stream of quality fish up to 3 1/2lb.
As always, the crew really do make the day and sharing time with wonderful people is what drives us forward. A mix of people who have fished with us for several years and some who are new to fishing with us at www.brigandcharters.com - a pleasure sharing the day with you all and thank you all for your excellent company
We have 3 Spaces available this Monday 14th so if good quality Bream fishing, in shallow water on light gear appeals to you give Karl a call on 07768 721477 to book on with us.

    NEW BOAT UPDATE!

Well, she's almost there..... feels like I've been saying that for the last month! However, It has to be right and we are making sure it is.
A big milestone getting the decks flocoated, stainless in place, winch installed (a huge thank you to the wonderful Carl Porter on that front), twin transducers and all seacocks, fuel lines, water hoses replaced. Night vision system, MFD's & safety equipment to be installed, exhausts hooked-up, cabin heating system and heads to be plumbed in and we're ready to sea-trial and get her back to Brighton....... another 2 weeks should see that done and Captain Karl Pope will be smashing those inshore Bream, Bass & Plaice .

  • 22/03/2025 Fishing Report by Steve Green

22 Mar 2025 by Steve Green

After a challenging few months dealing with the new charter boat refit (more of that to come) and what has felt like endless coding, registration and other necessary administrative issues required to ensure we are fully compliant with the new Bass boat it felt like we were actually taking a break with an Offhsore wrecking trip today!
With a good forecast and a wonderful crew aboard we headed out for some offshore wrecking fun. I think first drift we were into fish and managed to get half a dozen perfectly conditioned Pollock abaord before loosing the tide. A quick flit up tide over slack to enable us to fish the flood for the second half of the day was pretty uneventful to start with but gathered pace as the tide kicked in. An assortment of Pollock, Whiting, Red Gurnard and I think just the one pouting quickly followed with most Pollock in the 4-8lb range and in fantastic condition.
It always great to see those that wish to take fish home for table do that and there was plenty for everyone aboard. Peter Stotesbury will always be right up there when it comes to just about any fishing discipline and bagged 4/5 very nice fish. No monsters today but as the weather improves and we can confidently travel further on our long distance trips those will come.
The new charter boat - well it's been quite a project and wil be a fantastic fishing machine! As well as the new engines, shafts, props, full rewire it's also had the latest electronics installed with Raymarine 3D system operating through the linked transducers, quantum radar and the latest night vision system....what a system that is! It also has fridge, freezer, convection cooker, blown heating, on-deck toilet and massive range with it's extra large tanks. It is another Blythe 10m Catamaran that will be working alongside our current www.brigandcharters.com boat doing everything from long distance, multi-day trips to the Southwest for Cod, Ling, Couches Bream etc to 1/2 day inshore trips closer to home in Brighton fishing for Bass with lures and live-baits at extremely competive rates starting at £40pp - we think that's the right price for inshore Bass fishing even with such a fantastically well equipped big Catamaran taking a max of 6 anglers...... worth considering if your a serious Bass angler, contact Karl Pope for bookings on 07768 721477.
We have a very busy season ahead with everything from Mackerel to Bluefin Tuna on offer so if your looking for quality fishing out of Brighton with professional crews, with a proven track record get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate you.
All availability can viewed in our website calendar here www.brigandcharters.com and will be updated when the new boat arrives - exciting rimes here!
