Like a lot of skippers fishing and been around boats has been major part of my life, having fished off the Sussex costal area since i was 12 years old, its all my grandfathers fault i got into sea fishing, having spent long summers in Cornwall, and Somerset. Boat experience stems back to the late 70s, having been member of Brighton Deep Sea Anglers and when they closed headed to Hove Deep Sea Anglers who are still running to this today.
My love for Bass grew in mid 80s, fishing off the marina walls and off the small boats, I hold Power Boat Level 2 advance , and with over 40 years experience, we can guarantee you experience your never forget!!

Fishing Report by Iain Barron
Nov 2023 by Iain Barron
Quick review of 0f 2023,
Well to say the least the weather gods were not with us last spring and summer, but the times we did get out, they were good, we had great caches of targeted species, Pollock and Bass, and Codling, along with Red/Tub Gunard, Wrasse, and 4 other species.
The best fish of the year for Pollock around 10lb, along with 5 other 8 sizeable pollock on the same trip.
The best bass of the year fell to Martin 7lb 9oz on mid surface lure over rock terrain.
we had lots of new crews which were some of the enjoyable moments with smiles lighting up the dull skys with there first ever catches, and our regualr crews who along with loads banter had great days out.
as we look forward to next spring summer , we are doing 6 hour trips during the week in March and April for combined target fish of Bass and Pollock, or anything else that fancies a munch on rubber or metal lures.
family groups are always welcomed on board, so if you have an Xbox fanatic , get them to have break and book a trip out with us,
Lastly,
Thank you to everyone who booked with us and for your understanding in which was a very strange year weather wise. We look forward to welcoming everyone on board in 2024. -

Fishing Report by Iain Barron
Oct 2022 by Iain Barron
It's been a while since our last report, this year has been the strangest, the weather obviously plays a big part, cold easterly than the north easterlies certainly, then, heatwave yay calm seas sunshine, did this turn the fish off and push them out to cooler waters, this hasn't helped our fishers, not say we didn't do well over the season.
We persevered with all the crews that came out with us, like everyone else we had extremely good days and days where were scratching our heads as to why the fish suddenly turned off, whilst writing we haven't had our lucky double-size bass this year, yet we still have 2 months left hopefully, we will fall upon one soon.
Our year started in earnest in March, fantastic crew of experienced anglers, and nailed it in the four-hour trip, not to be ever forgotten, the smallest on board that morning was around 3lb on average, ( who wouldn't be happy with that)the biggest of the day just under 5lb. this particular session I think we will never beat this.
May/June/July
we had lots of opportunities with some brilliant crews and our catch-and-cook sessions, were a resounding success, we had doctors, midwives, lawyers and a whole host of other people from all walks of life join us, the highlight is the youngsters coming aboard and not sure what to expect, Leon & Theo, in particular, out fishing the adults by 3-1.
August/September
The holiday season, mmm ruined by the weather nothing new there, the times we did get out, rewarding they were, with all crews getting on the fish, Lawerence with the biggest Bass so far 63cm, we've had lots of 50cm plus this year, a good class of fish, and thank yu to our family crews who came out with us, we hope all those that have come aboard so far this year have had a great time and we look forward to welcoming new and returnees soon.
We've still 6 weeks left before the dreaded December becomes catch-and-release only. -

Saturday
The forecast was for good weather and a Birthday Boy (Jay) on board and regulars Malc and John, the plan in place was completely thrown in file 13 (bin), Slow Pitch Jigging being the way we’re going to fish.
We proceed to an area where I’ve been successful in previous visits, not a sniff, so we moved on to the next area in search of Silvers, and found in abundance the tide running at around .7-8 of a knot we had a good chance, Slow Pitch Jigging being the order of the day, and it worked big time.
The first drop down we had all rods into a fish, Jay was over the moon with his first boat caught bass, followed by John and Malc quickly followed by the skipper.
The next 90 minutes was pretty frenetic, with over 25 fish boated, biggest was 7lb 9oz which was returned and with numerous drop-offs in the process, everyone on board managed the 2 bag limit, with 2 fish in excess of 4lb plus, some great fishing, was had and the move onwards was decided for us, the weather crept on us and decided to change for the worst, the tide running at 2plus knots time to move horrible raindrops not pleasant situation for anyone.
We moved inshore for some fun on the next target species was Mackerel and Herring, we managed just one of those Mackerel not many but enough for the Barbie.
All in all the persuasion to go deeper paid dividends and a great 4 plus hours was well worth the effort. -

At last a real weather window and well worth waiting for, The Brighton Lure Boat has had busy two days, with some fine catches.
Friday’s Session
We had the pleasure of Chris/Robin & Bruno,
the weather was not at its greatest to start with a crosswind tide, which was difficult to manage to start with, the plan was to have a mixed day ie, target species was 5, we managed 7, 3 first time fish on board, and the main target not a sniff of a silver( Bass).
The firsts first, 2 Dabs, Herrings, and a Grey Gurnard, along with Plaice, Tub Gurnard, Mackerel and few Tings are thrown into the mixed session, the top rod was Bruno, followed by Chris, but robin had the best fish of the day went to Robin, with 2lb 5oz Plaice, a great day with more banter than the comedians could throw at a stag do!! -

We have had over the past 2 days completely different days, a lot of miles for a small reward and fewer miles for better results, to me the charter business is all about ensuring the client is given the best opportunities to catch, be it in 5 metres or 50 metres of water, the resulting feeling for them is the same, and target species achieved.
Today we ventured out and the target was Silvers, and this resulted, the good return of 28 in a 3-hour session, with an experienced pike fisherman aboard and accomplished chef to add into the mix we were in for fun-filled morning, and not forgetting the lemon drizzle cake Ryan produced halfway thru the session to boost our energy levels.
The SPJ (slow pitch jigging) took a while for them both to get the technique but both did well, Ryan was first in with good fish, followed by Lee, the drifts started to become difficult with wind against tide.
The Cheetha Marine boat soon got to grips and so did I with the right approach, the best drift produced 2 great fish (5 in total) yours truly with a 3.5lb and Ryan best fish of the day 6lb 10oz, Lee was getting to grips with the new style of fishing and hit into a good fish and landed, he said that’s his dinner sorted for the week, Ryan had another 3lb fish and that was our morning as the wind started to get up.
A great morning out with the banter and cake and silvers ta boot, think we see both back very soon.
