    Report on-board Sea Urchin III

    Whitby Uptiding Competition - 25th Nov - 3rd December 2023

    As winter draws in, lots of anglers appear to hang up the rods for various reasons. I used to be one of them; until I gave Uptide fishing a proper go.....now I absolutely love it!

    During the winter months we generally fish the plentiful areas of rough ground around Whitby right under the cliffs, up and down the coastline. Fishing in depths from 10m - 25m whilst the boat is anchored is a different way of fishing, but can ultimately be very rewarding. I've included some pictures of previous winter captures, to wet the appetite.

    Fresh run Codling continually move through the Whitby area during the winter months and fishing with "Grip Leads" and flowing traces baited with Squid, Black Lugworm or Crab-Cart regularly leads to some great bags of Codling being landed.

    We have only decided this week that we would hold the competition, so whilst we have secured prize money etc, the finer details are just being finalised and we'll share them once the WCSA Autumn Festival has concluded.

    My booking calendar is always bang up to date, and I fish all year round. Don't worry if you've never done it before; Arkadiusz Lewandowski hadn't either, but he still managed to land a 17lb Cod on his first trip!!
