Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
The good weather has continued and the temperatures have remained high which has bought in some spectacular lightning storms and may be pretty to view when on land but are very scary when out on the water. Poole Harbour has produced excellent Plaice catches with up to 60 being caught in a single session Chris Colledge landed a new PB of 3lb 10ozs, small to medium sized Bream are in abundance throughout the Harbour and although good fun to catch soon exhaust bait supplies. 1st time lady angler Liz Rouss whilst on holiday from London caught a 5lb 2 ozs Ballan Wrasse during a short 3hr trip and is now taking up the sport on a regular basis. Dave Colcough landed a Dover Sole adding to his species tally during an evening session along with Bass, Gurnards, Smoothhounds and many pesky Bream. In Poole Bay the hard fighting and very illusive Trigger Fish are the prime target, during a trip organised by a local angling club to promote junior anglers to take up boat fishing Flora Munden set a new club record for Trigger Fish at 3lb 2ozs and Andy Mapstone landed a Couch’s Bream (a new species for Mistress Linda). Drifting along the beaches provided many other species inc Gurnards, Bream and the occasional Turbot / Brill. Mackeral after being so plentiful switched off overnight with just the odd fish being caught. The outer bank marks on the weaker tides produce good sized Rays, Tope and Bull Huss whilst offshore the wrecks at anchor are producing good catches of Congers, larger Bream. As the season change and autumn arrives the summer species will go on their travels and Channel Whiting will arrive followed by the winter Cod.
