    Report on-board Duke IV

Spring has brought some good fishing to Ramsgate! We still have some quality Cod inshore, also a fair spring run of Codling! Paul from Welling landed a fine Cod of l5lb l2oz aboard Duke IV.
The Skate are making an appearance with good numbers available. Ian landed an 8lb'er and Courtney who came along with her dad on an individuals day aboard Duke IV showed how its done with a Skate and Doggies!
We made our first visit to the wrecks when Sea Angler mag, Shane Pullen and crew turned up to shoot some film for his next fishing video.
Some of the wrecks were quiet with only the odd fish, move on to another wreck and the Cod along with a few Pollack were feeding well on the shad and Sukuma redgill lures we offered!
Ginters group from Barking Essex had a good day out on Duke IV with some nice Thornback Ray and Whiting, also catching our first Smoothound of the year!
Herring is a favoured bait for the Thornies and will also catch the odd Cod and the Whiting love it!
Remember the Rays are here to breed so take care with them and please return the females. These fish are slow growing and don't mature until at least 7 years old and only lay a small number of purse type eggs, so our future sport relies on a good return from these fantastic fish!
The fishing should continue to improve as the water warms, bringing in the Bass and Smoothounds. Skate numbers should peak in May with the Mackerel arriving inshore in June! Still dates available for groups & individuals on Duke IV so please email or call me for more information! Tight lines, Bob.
