Fishing Report by Trevor Small

Hi All
After a really productive January that saw fish wherever we went , fishing this weekend has been the toughest yet. A stiff North East wind both days didn't help us in any way. Even traveling lots of miles, and having most of anchor warp out to compensate for the sea conditions ,couldn't prevent the occasional and unavoidable drag. A big cat like Rocket dose take some stopping, when faced in a wind with tide scenario . Quite often its not the anchor its self that slips, but the ground we fish is not always strong enough to hold us. When we did manage a toe hold, the results were not what any skipper hopes for. The whiting seem mostly small ,the Congers are in biblical proportions and most other species have decided to go on a diet. Anyway ,I did what any skipper does. I tried hard ,and eventually it pays off. Yesterday Steve Collins aka Shouty Steve managed his personal best Silver Whiting whilst reefing. I'm taking a couple of weeks off ,and then might have another go to target Spurs on the weekend of Feb 22nd 23rd. Fingers crossed it doesn't blow hard ,so we can head out on the 40m contour and do the business. Tight lines Trev -

Great fishing and weather too.
Plenty of sporting action currently with Whiting ,Congers ,Rays showing themselves on every trip. Sunday saw Rocket head further East than our normal grounds ,and for those aboard wanting to catch Congers it certainly didn't disappoint . We lost count of how many, with takes within seconds of the baits hitting bottom. That type of fishing appeals to some anglers ,but many skippers look for quality rather than quantity. Saying that quality and quantity is the best of both worlds. That is certainly what we experienced the previous weekend with epic Whiting fishing . This Saturday is full ,and I'm now receiving enquiries for Sunday so all going well considering the time of Year. The weekend of 25th 26th Jan should see us head out further to some deeper banks, with Spurdogs and Big Rays being our target specie. We are also doing a trip targeting big Bass on the Thursday and Friday ,and they are now full. A big thank you to everyone that has fished with us ,since my return to angling. Lots have changed over the years, but somethings never change. Its great seeing some old customers come back, and new ones enjoying great fishing. With growing interest ,I have now created an online booking service through my website. www.uberscuba.co.uk . Simply click on the event date book yourself on. Saves calling , missed calls and texting. A very useful tool for me to keep within numbers ,and also a quick reference of who's coming, and contact details if I need to get hold of anyone urgently. After the recent unsettled weather ,we are looking forward to a few more busy sessions at anchor. The reefing this time of year can provides a steady flow of Channel Whiting , which are great sport on light tackle. Other suspects include Congers ,Pout, Bass and Rays. Occasionally a bonus fish will introduce its self like this beautiful Spurdog shown here by its captor Mark. We wouldn't usually expect Spurs this close inshore ,but that is the essence of angling, you never know what's going to rock up next .Of course we are always hoping for a Cod too, and we have a welcome party waiting . Theses reef trips are inexpensive, productive and the Reefs fished are inshore enough to be awarded protection from our prevailing winds. Bait can be purchased from Sea Fishing Poole's hut on the Quayside, on the morning of the trip. If you require tackle ,this can be provided at additional cost to whomever needs it. We carry some very light line rods aboard for your enjoyment. I always encourage fishing as light as possible ,as this will enhance your experience and increase you catch. Keep a look out for our forthcoming availability ,and grab yourself some great value action.

How the Seasons have changed. I'm old enough to remember the annual pilgrimage to Lymington for the National Cod fishing Comp. The combination of temperature and sea conditions, never added to the excitement of taking part. In complete contrast today ,we fished for Bass in short sleeves. A truly epic days fishing . Well over 100 Bass to the net. Only a few kept the rest returned. My crew today was the grandson of legendary Bass fisherman Tony Harvey. Well done everyone. We are available for week and weekend charters ,competitions etc. Aboard this comfortable ,stable Catamaran. We put you on the fish, not in the harbour. WWW.UBERSCUBA.CO,UK OR CALL 07516510695

Angling Charters continue to dictated to by the unseasonal weather. The advantage of having such a large and stable vessel , mean we often fish when and where others are unable too. We regularly fish and dive Offshore wrecks and Reefs, looking for decent sport. Tope fishing has been well above expectation. Mackerel continue to be scarce out deep ,so prudent to bring some frozen bait with you. Tuna sightings are increasing ,and we are readying ourselves . Our PBA supplied gear is truly smoking , when viewed from our Sports Flybridge. Rocket is currently being fitted with Outriggers ,to increase the width of our spread. Exciting times ahead.

With the ever increasing number of Tuna and Sharks being spotted during trips, I've added two big fish days to my diary. A mix of trolling and drift fishing . Sure to be fun ,and kind on the pocket too.

Hi Everyone.
Lack of reports due to workload ,but a quick one nevertheless. Lots of sport to be had over the last set of Neap tides. Tope are in abundance, but bait is difficult to find in quantity . I headed to a shallow reef in search of Bass ,and I was truly amazed at what I spotted. What must of been tons of Bass ,from Seabed to Ten meters high. An epic hour of fishing ,until everyone had landed several fish. Only a few retained ,the rest released. With Tuna being regularly spotted , we are retting ready. We certainly have the ideal boat for it . Our flybridge allows us to see much further than at deck level, and its very much sight fishing when Trolling Lures. -

A magical days fishing yesterday with 35 + Bass boated and released by 10:30 am. Also lots of action in the afternoon with Black Bream being the target specie. Again impressive of 30+ in two hour of anchoring . The whole day was spent fishing in glorious sunshine, with the ride back helmed from our 12 seater flybridge. www.uberscuba.co.uk
