With a small window in the weather we sailed this weekend (saturday).
Having spoken with another skipper, the day previous had been hard work so I chose to push tide and fish a bit further afield, in a bid to find my guys a few fish!
We worked a few marks through the morning taking a few fish here and there, yes it was a slow start, but we managed around a dozen keepers through the ebb tide with a few chuck backs and the usual pout and dogs.
I used the last of the tide to run a bit closer to home, and to set up In a different area I like on the flood.
It was a smart move as we had a pretty good afternoon finishing on a high note, we'd a few more chuck back codlings and a good few more keepers, finishing with around 25 keepers (40cm plus) for the day with the best fish only around 4lb.
The crack was brilliant all day with everyone and it was great to catch up with my regulars and meet a few new faces too.
I have availability calendar up to date for the year with plenty of spaces, if you fancy a trip with me please give me a on 07977 436903, if yiu can't get hold of me drop me a text or WhatsApp and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Sat 28th, the last days fishing of the year for us on the Mistress.the tides weren't fantastic but it was the only gap in the weather i could see for while, the winds blown strong ever since.
I really fancied getting out as I've been couped with a bad knee since before Christmas, a couple of my regulars managed to jump aboard with me for the day at late notice.
Tbh we had a fairly slow start to the day with only bits and bobs coming aboard from various marks. I made a move for the last few hours and the rods never stopped nodding,
We ended the day with us all boating 10+ codlings each but only kept the better ones. I was absolutely plagued by pouting too which got me a ribbing from the rest of the lads.
Martin managed a baby bullhuss which was a nice surprise too.
Usual baits of black lug, dirty squid and cart too the fish.
Well guys that concludes 2024, thank you all again for your continued support, I look forward to seeing you in 2025!

We've another very enjoyable day at sea again today, again a mixture of regulars were onboard the banter was absolutely top notch!
We took fish in most places with a couple of crackers going over 6lb. Again plenty of chuck back codlings, haddock, pouting and a single pollock.
The best angler took 9 or 10 codlings with the rest of the taking a picking in between.
The fish were all caught on a mixture of black lug, fresh lug, squid, crab cart and mussel.
We've a few dates available through the rest of December into new year if you fancy jumping aboard for day. We only need a minimum of 4 to sail and never take any more than 8.
Please give me a call on 07977 436903, if m not available and you can't get through drop me a message or WhatsApp and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. -

It's been a great day today with a few of my regular regulars!
We caught fish pretty much everywhere we went today,
Loads of codlings, pouting, haddock, whiting, a solitary doggo and a lobster (returned).
We had loads of throwbacks and would have thrown back more if it wasn't for them being gutted hooked. (We don't keep anything under 40cm)
The lads kept between 20 & 30 codlings with the best angler taking 14. All caught on a mixture of black lug, squid and cart.
At one mark we struggled keeping up with the bites, it went crazy.
The company and laughs were great as everyone knew each other. Back to sea again tomorrow on another good forecast.
If you fancy a trip with me uptidng we have a few dates available between now and new year. Please drop me a message on WhatsApp or give me a call on 07977 436903.

1st day back at sea today for 2024.
Having seen recent reports from the other local skippers, I had a feeling it was going to be hard work. It was!
As always we moved plenty hitting some of my favourite marks, litterally taking one or two a mark before moving on, eventually as the flood bent through later in the trip, we managed a few small flurries of fish.
Mistress regular Rob from york get the best 2 fish of the day both bouncing 7½/8lb on the boat scales, his mate Dan got another nice fish 5/6lb. The rest of the catch was made up of the usual mops, pout, whiting and a solitary doggo.
A tough day but some nice fish to show for our efforts.

We managed another nice day at sea yesterday, making the most of the settled weather.
We covered some miles yesterday heading to some ground we havent been near since last winter, so hopes were high for some good fishing. I'd been plagued by an absolute walrus of a seal the previous day too which also swayed my decision to head the other way!
The tide was just starting to run as we arrived and we got off to a slow start, despite moving about we were only taking a handful of bits each stop with the odd better fish thrown in.
I used the last of the ebb to run back north for the start of the flood, which turned out to.be a good decision!.
The last 2 and half hours fished well for us, with everybody getting some sport.
We counted up 40-50 fish for the day, only keeping the 3-5lb stuff, lots of tid codlings returned again.
I'm hoping the bigger ones will start showing once the water cools a bit further.

What a great few days of settled weather we're having at the minute!
We sailed again yesterday with a handful of regulars, the tide took a bit of time in getting going, but once it did we settled in for some great sport.
The lads all picked away steady keeping a few each of the better stamp of fish and returning plenty.
Squid and worm being the most popular bait, but cart and squid cocktail taking a few too.
Coming up we've the WCSA uptide festival, initially it booked up straight away, but in the last couple of days weve had some cancelled spots,
So:
25/11 - 1 place available
1/12 - 1 place available
2/12 - 3 places available

Yesterday saw a new event here at whitby. Rich Ward owner/skipper of Shy Torque, put together a few boats in organising a multiple county police uptide/downtide/side plopping competition.
It was meant to.be over 2 days, but sadly we lost the 1st day to weather, and quite a few anglers dropped out, the 4 boats, Alliance, ourselves, Sea urchin 3 and Shy Torque all sailed on the 2nd day with 4 or 5 anglers a piece in a growing sea.
We had to work hard as the fish werent biting as hard as we'd expect on such a good tide, we moved plenty as bites dried up. Luckily it paid of for us, we had winner Iain Robb aboard who managed to boat 10 nice Cod, and a couple of other bits to amass 1191 points.
Iain also got the biggest fish of the day at a shade under 7lb.
We had others in the 5lb and 6lb bracket too. There were plenty of just size fish that were returned.
All in all a very nice relaxed day at sea,

Catch report 16th & 17th June
Hi guys we've had a couple of belting days at sea this rotation.
On Friday the tides were starting to lift from neaps and was showing a 5.1m on the tide tables. I was sure the inshore wrecks had already taken a battering from the whitby fleet already, so I decided to visit some ground marks I've not visited since I started back up again
To be fair everywhere we stopped we took fish, the rods were busy all day, baited hokkais and shads were taking the fish, with a good number of double shots through the day. I started edging towards some wreckage as the tide eased but the lads were still taking a good picking on the ground so we fished on through slack, and dodged the wrecks.
We never had any big fish but we took plenty of them, with the lads amassing 70-80 keeper Cod, Ling, Haddock and Mackerel with loads of throw backs.
On Saturday the tides built further but with having such a good day friday we went back to the same area. Despite several passes on the ground the fishing was slow! I started hunting around and covered a few miles before heading back into the 3 mile stream.
I marked a ledge that suprisingly I've never marked before in all my years at sea, with a few passes I had it marked up on my maxsea,
We started fishing it and with every pass over it we were getting 3-4 rods in to cod. We managed 30 odd codling off that ledge so I carried on working tight to features on the ground taking more fish.
The lads asked me to fillet up them so we got back in early, looking through the boxes the 5 lads had had a good day again, taking 50 keeper Cod & Haddock, plus a bonus gorilla tub Mackerel.
Obviously the lads were delighted both days and its been a pleasure being at sea with everyone, In such great weather!
