Out fishing today although the weather wasn't brilliant. Tope to 25lb, huss to 14.5lb, loads of whiting and a few pollack. Not bad for an inshore trip but will be better if the weather settles down. Good tides coming up so should be able to get to the big pollock on the wrecks if the weather settles.

    NEW PHOTO UPLOADED!
Had a good day on the tope with numbers well into double figures. The biggest was 45lb and it gave a big surprise. Halfway to the surface the fish got a new lease of life and darted off at a rate of knots. It took quite a while to get it back under control and when it surfaced after a mighty tussle we saw the teeth marks on its flanks. It had been taken by a shark on it's way up! I've put a photo up on the site and am waiting for a better one from one of the anglers present. The teeth marks are about 9 or 10 inches across and seem to be only the front of the jaws. I am assuming it was a porbeagle but I couldn't swear to it. In nearly 40 years as a charter skipper I've never seen anything like that. I've seen pollock bitten up but not a 45lb tope. What an amazing day.
I should like to reassure any people who may be disturbed by this picture, that sharks only ever attack you when you are wet.
    Regards
    Pat

A nice day out weatherwise today for a change. The wrecks had a lot of medium fish and a few bigger ones. A good bunch of lads made for a very pleasant day out.
Please feel free to enquire about our trips.

Another breezy day on the briny. We had the cosmopolitan club out today. They are the remnants of lots of clubs that whittled down to one man and we got them all together and they fish once a fortnight. Great crack and lots of banter, it's as much a social occasion as a fishing trip. Plenty of fish inshore again, twenty plus bullhuss to 14lb, a couple of tope runs, pollock to 4lb and loads of whiting and barkers plus codling, gurnard, wrasse, dabs and plenty of mackerel at last. Lots of sausage butties and cakes.
We've got midweek dates available on some good tides for wrecking trips if you fancy it. 10 hrs offshore for £320.
Aquastar 33 with plenty of deck space.
I've fished from Amlwch for almost 40 years (39 to be exact) and have plenty of experience on the wrecks and also tope and general fishing.
    Very competitive prices.
    Regards
    Pat

Blowing hard this weekend so we couldn't do the wrecks for the big pollock and cod we are known for. The two parties we had were happy to fish the inshore grounds and we had tope to 30lb and huss to16lb. The reefs fished well and we had pollock to 61/2 lb and loads of wrasse and a fair few mackerel. These are still a bit scarce but are putting in a bit better appearance now. There were also loads of whiting and dogs and a few gurnard. As usual we had plenty of tea and coffee and a good few sausage and burgers! All in all, considering the strong south westerly winds we did very well. Amlwch is an ideal place to fish in the SW winds because of the high cliffs which give shelter. If you get blown off any time please give me a ring , we may be able to help.
    Pat.
