Fishing Report by Geoff Sharp

We headed out this morning to absolutely glorious weather and flat calm seas.
The guys today were mostly beginners, but seeing as the conditions were great, we threw them straight in at the deep end on a big wreck. The fish were coming in thick and fast even on feathers, with the best Ling weighing 16.5lb.
We moved another 5 miles to the second wreck of the day, and not a single fish came aboard. Only two small Ling were caught until after lunch where one of the guys found a stunning golden Cod. We then hit the ground which didn't produce anything other than small Codling and of course Mackerel.
From a fishing perspective, it was definitely a day of two halves, but overall still a cracking run out with great banter. -

We got lucky again with the weather today! The strong westerly winds didn't arrive until late afternoon.
Instead of sheltering under the cliffs for the entire day as intended, we managed to head out to a few wrecks in the morning to find a better stamp of fish.
The lads took advantage, baited up, and found some nice Codling, Ling, small Pollock, Whiting, Pouting and non stop Mackerel before the wind stopped play, and sent us running for cover in the afternoon. -

Another run out where we hit on lucky with the weather; flat seas and light winds for the majority of the day, until the run home when it began to pick up.
It was good to see the better stamp of fish starting to come back on the feed again, with Chris finding the best Ling weighing in at 14’12 lb, and some solid Codling and Pollock also coming aboard.
Lots of Mackerel throughout the day for bait and for the pan until the final drop. -

It was a touch windy this morning so we stuck tight inside under the cliffs for shelter.
Once it settled down slightly, we headed out to a few wrecks to find some Codling and Ling for the guys, whilst the opportunity presented itself.
Lots of Whiting today coming aboard in strings, Haddock, Herring, Pouting and some absolute jumbo Mackerel! -

It was a pleasure to welcome back Peter, Dan and family for an angling trip; flat seas, no wind and sunshine were the order of things today.
Plenty of sport on Mackerel, Whiting and Pouting, with some nice Ling, Pollock and Codling when we tried the wrecks for a few hours over slack water.
On the run back to the Tyne we had two dolphins bow riding and breaching alongside us in an incredible display to end the day -

It was a pleasure to welcome back Dylan and his American party today!
The 5+ metre tides and 20 mph offshore winds made the fishing quite difficult at times, so we decided to stay on the rough ground for the majority of the day and enjoy plenty of sport and banter.
Hopefully the guys have a safe journey back down south tonight in their minibus and we'll see them again next year. -

We left this morning to approximately 25mph offshore winds, and it was capping the instant we rounded the piers.
We stuck tight inside for the first hour or so until it calmed down, and then headed out to a wreck or two when the weather window presented itself.
We found half a dozen or so solid stamp fish, before it came away again, and we headed back to the inshore rough ground for shelter.
The best part of the day was the 2 hour run home, when we were tight inside exploring the rock edges finding everything from small Codling, Flounders, Dabs, Gurnards, Coalies, Whiting, Pouting and a good number of Mackerel. Some days it makes you work hard for it! -

It was another glorious run out today; no wind, mirror flat seas and almost too warm at times!
We found plenty of mackerel for bait in the morning, and continued to have an occasional drop for them throughout the day to top up with fresh supplies.
We welcomed some deaf guys aboard today so it was challenging to show them the ropes, but they got the hang of it quickly and most found their first Ling and Codling etc.
We went from a solid stamp of fish this morning, to seemingly endless throwbacks, most notably small Ling in the afternoon when the tide turned.
We had a little stop for fresh non sunbaked mackerel on the rough ground, on the run home; all in all a cracking run out.
