Fishing Report by Geoff Sharp

We set off this evening to what we thought was going to be a glorious, flat calm, wind free run out.
By the time we got to the end of the piers, we were faced with an unforecast brisk South Easterly, whipping up an annoying little wind chop. We decided to play it safe and stuck to the inshore rough grounds for sport.
The lads and lasses braved it out until it settled down slightly, and found endless Mackerel, any amount of lovely clean pan sized Codling sometimes two at a time, Whiting, Coalies, Pouting and Wrasse. -

After cancelling the whole weekend due to bad weather it was good to get out again; mirror flat seas and zero wind were the order of the day.
It was a patchy start for mackerel, but they seemed to be pretty much everywhere we went for the entire day, so no issues finding bait.
The fishing was great in the morning, slowed down towards the back end of the flood, and then switched on again immediately when the tide turned in the afternoon with up to four fish a drift for a final flurry.
There wasn't a huge volume of fish, but the consistency and stamp once again made up for it with the lads finding Ling, Codling and Pollack all into double figures. -

Fantastic to have the North East Casting Club aboard for a run out yesterday evening.
It was a bit of a choppy start, which then calmed down nicely, before a slightly choppy run home with a lovely sunset to end the day.
We stuck to the rough ground and found some Codling, Ling, Whiting, Pouting, Wrasse and Mackerel for sport, with great banter throughout. -

We left the piers this morning to flat seas, little to no wind and gin clear water. We found the mackerel straight away in large numbers and decided to stay tight inside on the rough ground, until almost lunchtime.
We nipped out to a few wrecks in the afternoon once everyone was pretty much fished out, and were faced with torrential downpours followed by blazing sunshine, on repeat.
A good number of nice Ling, Codling and Pollock came aboard before we headed back to the rough ground, to finish the day harvesting bucket loads of fresh mackerel to be taken for the table. -

It was another slow start today with the mackerel being fairly patchy. Once we had enough for bait we tried a couple of wrecks and picked away on some solid Codling and smaller Ling.
Piotr hooked up with a fantastic Codling only to have it taken off his hook by a huge seal at the surface (after a fair old tussle).
The wind and chop picked up way more than forecast, so we ran into the rough ground, and found that, in any event, it was producing the most consistent numbers and stamp of Codling and some jumbo Mackerel to see the day out. -

Massive thanks to John for organising a thoroughly enjoyable run out yesterday.
We headed out to a wreck first thing to pick up some mackerel, but found it to be on the wrong side of windy and choppy for the party aboard. We had reliable intel from Keith Armstrong who was out with his son on his SIB, fishing the inner rough grounds, that it was a fish a drop.
We immediately headed off, and found lovely calm waters, protection from the wind, and endless Mackerel, Codling to 7 lb, Whiting, Pouting, and small Ling for sport for the remainder of the day.
Hopefully everyone had a safe road trip back to Manchester last night and enjoys their catch. -

It was a slow start to the day; the mackerel were fairly patchy in the morning but we finally got enough for bait.
There were fish pretty much everywhere we went but not in huge quantities. The stamp of the fish made up for it with a 22 lb Ling coming aboard, a 12.5 lb Pollack and a lovely clean Sprag well into double figures.
Once again the guys fished hard until the last drop. -

We had a glorious run out today, with minimal wind and flat seas.
The lads found themselves a cracking stamp of Codling, Ling and some chunky Coalies with plenty of Mackerel for sport.
Great banter all day with everyone fishing hard until the last drop. -

The objective last Sunday was to find the Mackerel, which we did (it hasn't been that easy lately as they have been fairly patchy).
A good stamp of Codling, Ling, Pollack, Haddock, Pouting and Whiting also came aboard during the course of the day. -

We had a trip out today which started slowly, but culminated into a fantastic run in the sun!
With some perseverance we found a great stamp of Pollock, Codling, smaller Ling, finally located a shoal of Mackerel, and plenty of Whiting, Coalies, Pouting and Wrasse.
