Out again today on another Uptiding trip.
The stamp of fish today was much better with Cod to 7lb.
Crab cart, squid and lugworm fished well.
We have room for 1 angler tomorrow and this will be my last trip till the 28th December.
Having a nice break for a week.
Simon England is pictured with his catch today with Cod to 7lb.
Cheers and tight lines,
Rich

What a gorgeous day at sea yesterday.
Sea like a mirror pretty much all day.
Fishing however was a little slow with only 20 or so fish boated.
Local lad and good mate of mine Fergus Powell fished the best using a selection of baits including crab cart which out fished everything.
We have just 1 place left now on tomorrow’s trip and 3 places left on Sunday’s trip if you fancy a go before Xmas.
Cheers for now

We managed a run out on Saturday just gone.
After the last couple of massive Northerly storms we’ve just encountered I knew the only chance we had to see any fish at all was at anchor in the shallow water.
Good choice!
The lads picked just a half dozen fish on the first mark so we moved to another favourite spot of mine and we picked fish up steadily then.
The 6 lads on board managing 40 plus fish between them, making for a very enjoyable day in the end.
If you fancy a run this next weekend I have had a change of plans as a Xmas party we were going to has been cancelled so we have an empty boat on the Sunday.
Cheers for now,
Rich

Last trip out was last Saturday for the lads,
It was the last day for us in the Uptiding Competition too and the lads didn’t do too well to be fair.
Around 20 fish in total to keep, with a few “chuck backs”
Alan Ward taking the best fish on the boat at a shade over 4lbs.
The lads enjoyed the day however and are looking forward to some good inshore anchor fishing after this Northerly has passed through after the weekend. It really should come alive after the storm passes out.
We will sail with just 3 anglers when we are fishing inshore at anchor so if you fancy a run before Xmas give me a bell.
Cheers for now.

Penultimate day today in this year’s Uptiding competition looking at the weather predictions for Sunday!
Another slow start to the day for the mixed group of lads today but after a move a couple of miles up the coast we found a steady fishing as soon as the flood tide bent through.
Dave Sharp bagged the most fish with 15 for himself and also took the best fish of the day, only weighing in at 3lb 7oz, but nevertheless a winning fish on the day.
Young Ted from Hartlepool enjoying the day too with his Dad Andy and George taking a good bag of fillets home for the plate. Ted also won the junior prize in the competition, a Slosh 20 and an uptiding rod. We’ll done to him!
A really strange occurrence today too with 2, yes 2, small Congers boated!! That’s 3 boated this last week! What’s going on??!!!
Cheers lads, a really enjoyable day with excellent banter!
Ted is pictured.
Cheers
Rich

A slow day yesterday in the Uptiding Competition.
The lads worked their socks off all day for little reward.
My old mate Guy Wrightson managed to land 10 fish but sadly only 3 were keepers and the rest put back.
In general a smaller sample of fish than of late but still a cracking day out with good mates and even better banter.
Andy Officer from Hull took the best fish of the day winning him the sweep on board plus the daily 1st overall with a 3lb 4oz Coding.
Cheers for now,
Rich

Pinched another day at sea yesterday in the 2021 Uptiding Competition.
The day started slowly working the “South Hard” grounds with just a couple of Codling caught.
A move was in order to catch the start of the flood tide and we made tracks for some different ground.
On arrival, all the rods were bouncing !
Phil Oakey from Birmingham was among the mixed group of lads and his first drop landed him a “double up” of Codling. One at 4lb 5oz and the other around 2lb 8oz.
The 4 lads on board gathering over 40 fish for the day with the best bag going to Phil with 15 fish for himself.
His best fish on board also taking the heaviest fish of the day in the competition.
Great sport and great chat.
Cheers
Rich

Grabbing an odd day here and there at present with the Autumnal weather being as it is.
Martin Carrick and his mates from up in the dales joined us along with Ben and Sam.
The Uptiding Competition is still running at present but the lads plummed for a run offshore instead and had a nice day working the ground back of the 20 mile stream.
Slack water fished the best, which is unusual where we were working to be fair and the lads ended up with a nice days fishing in the end.
Dermot Faye took the heaviest of the day with a nice Ling of 10lb 8oz and the best Cod fell to me! Only a 6lb’er!
A great day at sea with great company again.
Cheers lads and we’ll see you again soon.

Last trip off for us was Wednesday in this year’s Uptiding Competition.
We decided to use the last of the tide and run South from the harbour to a spot where we have had good fish in the past.
As soon as we arrived the lads picked half a dozen fish up over slack water. Great, we knew they were there and I felt confident that as the ebb tide bent through the lads would see some good action. Wrong!!
It went quiet! We persevered for a couple of hours with just a dozen or so more fish boated.
Time for a move then and we cruised back up to Whitby.
Straight away the lads were into Codling. Nothing of any size to shout about but Rod Wilkinson did take the heaviest fish of the day with a plump Codling of 5lb 1oz. He also had a small Conger about 4lb. The last one we had was over 30 years ago so well done to him!!
Another great day at sea with a good set of lads.
Cheers
Rich
