A steady day at sea yesterday with a group of lads from Nottingham and a mate from Barnsley.
A mixture of fish over the day with cod, pollack, gurnard, whiting, mackerel and coaley.
Simon England with the best bag of fish on the boat.
Cheers for now

Last day of their 3 days today for Joe, Bernie, Chris, Paul and Gareth from the South East, London area.
We decided to stay and fish the inshore marks again, anchored and uptiding/ downtiding. A much slower day than yesterday with only around 20 keepers boated and a further 15 or so returned.
The lads were fishing peeler crab, squid and lug worm again. A few Bull seals were hampering our efforts for the best part of the day and probably hampered the catch rate. A bonus lobster today for Gareth which was returned as it was a female carrying eggs.
Cheers for now.

Joe, Bernie, Paul, Gareth and Chris's second day of 3 today and we decided to have a day in the shallows working the uptiding/downtiding method.
A 5 minute steam to the ground was great for the lads and they were well happy with their catch for the day with numbers of cod boated well in to the 80's.
Around 60 keepers for the table. As ever when uptiding/downtiding, every fish today was caught on the bait. The squid and lugworm doing the business.
Cheers for now and tight lines

Our lads from the South East arrived in Whitby yesterday.
Joe Blackham, Bernie, Gareth, Paul & Chris joined us on the first day of their annual 3 day visit to Whitby.
We worked some rough ground 15 miles East of the harbour all day where the lads picked away nicely. Cod, Ling, Pollack, Coaley and the usual small stuff being boated.
All the fish fell to the baited Pennel and Hokkai rigs, not a fish on the artificails. The poor weather this last weekend colouring the water a bit it seems. A nice visit by a pod of dolphins was a nice sight for the lads too.
The lads fancy a spot of uptiding today so we'll see how we go on.
A few of their catch in the picture.

The winner of the September angling competition visited Whitby the other day to collect his £1000.00 cash prize
Nigel Hall from East Cowton won the event (his 2nd win this year!) with a cracking ling of 24 lb 3 oz caught on the Shy-Torque III
He caught the fish on a cocktail of mackerel and squid used on one of his home made rigs. His rig was 120 lbs mono. We were working a wreck 12 miles North of Whitby when he dragged the fish out on the very first day of the event!
A massive thankyou as ever to our continuing sponsors "Mr Chips" and our new sponsors, the "Star Inn" public house.
Nigel is pictured outside the Star Inn collecting his money. Well done mate.

Last Saturdays crew from Sheffield enjoyed a decent spell of fishing .
James Ellis and his mates had some reasonable fishing for about 3 hours over the "slack water" period. The artificials didn't work at all on the day and all the fish taken fell to the squid and mackerel baits.
Good company on the day and some nice fish for the table.
James is pictured with one of his fish. A nice cod of 8 lb 4 oz.

A nice break in the weather on Saturday allowing us to have our first run to sea after a week or more ashore for poor weather.
The mackerel are still running here at Whitby which is great news for the lads and the bottom fishing wasn't too bad either with cod, ling, pollack, coaley and the usual nuisance pouting!!
Fish were falling mainly to the baited rigs with the squid taking the majority caught.
We are fishing up to the 1st December this year. After that the boat will be lifted from the water for some extensive work including a new deck fitted.
The calendar for 2020 is all up to date so have a look and get your trips booked early!
Cheers for now and tight lines

Hi all,
They say lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place. This year it did for one of our regular anglers Nigel Hall !!
Nigel fished with us in this years Spring angling competition here at Whitby which he won with a very nice Pollack of 12 lb 6 oz which landed him a very nice £1050.00
He fished the September competition with us again which finished last Sunday and boated a cracking ling of 24 lb 3 oz on the first day. His fish stood at the top of the leader board right the way through to the end of the event and scooped him his second win of the year , another £1050.00 !!
Both his winning fish were caught on his home made bait rigs which he'd baited with a cocktail of mackerel and squid.
A big congratulations to him and we look forward to presenting him with his cash very soon at the Star public house.
I'd personally like to thank our sponsors for the competition, Mr Chips fish & chip shop, The Star public house in Whitby, Hook Line & Sinker tackle shop of Whitby and Focus Training. Their continuing support is very much appreciated.
Also, we'd like to thank all the anglers who fished with the Shy-Torque in the last competition. Hopefully see you again next year.
Nigel is pictured inset with his winning fish.
Cheers and tight lines as ever
