A nice day at sea yesterday with a mixed group of lads. The fishing wasn't anything exceptional with only 25 or so fish caught.
The lads all enjoyed themselves and had a good laugh and were well pleased to get out on the pond.
Dermot Faye, one of our regular anglers is pictured with one of his fish. A lovely plump 4 lb winter codling.

The lads from around the Essex and London area had the last of their 3 days on Thursday last week. The forecast was perfect so we decided to have a good run offshore to a few marks. To be fair the fishing wasn't quite as good as I thought it would be with only 50 or so fish landed. I still think the storm the previous weekend was slowing the fishing up a little. The majority of the fish came on the bait including the best fish of the day which was a ling of 7 lbs caught by Roy which took the daily sweep. Obviously the sweep money was drank as soon as we got back to the pub!! Cheers Roy!
As always our Adam filleted the fish for the lads who were well pleased with the catch and what they were taking back with them.
Looking forward to the next time.

The London boys 2nd trip on Wednesday this week went really well with nigh on perfect conditions for working offshore.
We decided to have a run to the 20 mile and try some bits out there. After the severe weather we had last weekend I was honestly wondering whether the water was going to be clear enough and maybe we should have stayed inshore and uptided. When we pulled up and 4 out of the 5 rods went straight in we had our answer! Fish falling to both the bait and artificials.
The lads picked away nicely until home time and ended up with another good show of cod. Again, no big fish showing with best only nudging 5 lbs. 5 very happy lads though at the end of the day!

Our team from the South East, around the London area, joined us for the first of their 3 day block bookings on Tuesday this week.
Bernie, Roy, Joe, Rev & Mark decided to have a their first day working inshore with some uptiding. To be fair it was a good shout as the offshore breeze was still a bit fresh for working the offshore marks.
The lads worked their socks off all day and were rewarded for their efforts. Plenty of codlings for the table. Nothing big boated but with fish to just shy of 5 lbs, a good days sport.
We also had a good number of dog fish too which were quite nice to see for a change.
The lads are pictured inset with some of their catch.

The boat is almost ready for her bum getting wet again lads.
A full weeks elbow grease has brought her back up to full beauty! We'll be launching on Monday morning all being well so back at it as from then.
The calendar is fully up to date so have a look and give me a ring if you fancy a trip.

The water is clear offshore at Whitby again lads !!!!!!!!
We had a run out to a couple of wrecks on the 18 - 20 mile range yesterday. The lads were catching straight away on the baited rigs and also on the artificials, Sidewinders, Shads etc...
Best bag went to Simon England from Barnsley with 15 fish.
No big fish were caught but a strong number of lovely plump winter cod to around 6.5 lbs.
The boat is being lifted from the water this afternoon (21st) and will be high and dry for a week. After that we will be back at it (weather permitting)
Fully booked Tues 29th Jan - Sat 2nd Feb.
Room for 3 on Sun 3rd Feb.
Room for 1 on Sunday 10th Feb.
Room for 6 on Mon 11th Feb.

The boat comes out of the water for a week from next Monday chaps. General maintenance and a good polish up for the start of the upcoming season.
Weather permitting we'll be back in action from Tuesday 29th January. Uptiding trips are available as are offshore trips.
Check the calendar for availability which is always kept up to date.
The competition dates are starting to go quite quickly now so (in your best interest) give me a ring sooner than later to secure your places.
We only have 6 dates left in the Summer competition where the boat is completely empty for any of you wanting her for your group/club. Individual spaces are a bit more available.
Comp dates are :-
Spring --------------------- April 13th - 28th inc.
Summer ------------------- June 22nd - July 14th inc.
Late Summer ------------- Sept 7th - 22nd inc.
Give me a ring any time before 8 pm any day to discuss your requirements.

The last few trips on the Shy-Torque have been very up and down indeed.
After a few days with Northerly winds and swell, the offshore fishing has taken a bit of a knock compared to just before Xmas. Even the wrecks out around the 20 mile stream were struggling to produce.
Looks like we need a good settled spell to get the water cleared out again.
The inshore fishing however is showing a few fish. The last uptide trip we did produced a sprinkling of codling. My son Adam catching the best of the day at 6 lb 1 oz.
The boat is scheduled to be lifted from the water for a week from Monday 21st January for general maintenance.
If you fancy a run out with us before then, either inshore or offshore, give me a ring on the usual numbers. We will, as ever, sail with a minimum 3 anglers.

Hi everyone. Hope you all had a cracking Xmas and may we wish everyone a very healthy and Happy New Year.
The last trip aboard the Shy-Torque in 2018 went very well indeed with perfect conditions helping too.
A fabulous forecast enabling us to have a run out beyond the 20 mile with the mixed group of lads on board.
I won't mention numbers of fish but if I honestly said that on one of the marks for about an hour it was literally like winding the clock back 35 years!! Superb fishing with lovely plump winter cod and ling. Rods bending all round the boat on every drift. Great fun!!
Enjoy the rest of the holidays and give me a ring for any trips you fancy in 2019.

I'd just like to thank all our customers both old and new for their custom in 2018 and to wish everyone a very Happy Xmas and prosperous New Year.
Here's hoping everyone stays safe at sea in 2019 and plenty of fish is there for everyone.
Our days between Xmas and the New Year are now booked up and the next booking in 2019 is Thursday 3rd January where we have room for 3 anglers.
