Some quite superb fishing on the Shy-Torque III over the last 4 days with catches of cod exceeding the 100 mark !!!

The great thing too is that we are working literally 1/4 mile from the shore and even closer at some times, so stacks of fishing time for you. !!

The water is like gin inside at present and the fish are in a feeding frenzy taking anything you throw at them.

Come and grab a bag full whilst they are there!!

PS!!!!! Just 3 dates left with room in this years summer competition which starts 23rd June. They are :-
Monday 25th June. Room for 4.
Thursday 12th July. Room for 6.
Sunday 15th July. Room for 4.

A nice day at sea yesterday with a mixed party of lads.

A steady days fishing on the ground with cod to 14lb 12 oz caught by Jim Binns from Halifax.

Top rod for the day was my old friend from Leeds, Derek Wiggins who managed 15 cod for himself.

Places available next week are as follows :-

    Tuesday 5th June --------- 6 places.
    Wednesday 6th June------ 3 places.
    Thursday 7th June---------9 places.

As always individuals are most welcome and we offer a full professional service to both seasoned anglers and total beginners. Tides next week are also perfect in the "neap" range.

Some varied catches aboard the Shy-Torque this last week or so.

The algae is still playing its role in making things difficult in places here at Whitby but when we find the clearer water the fishing has been ok. No great shakes and no real big fish landed but acceptable never the less with all the lads taking a nice bag of cod home for the table.

The last 5 or 6 trips have seen the lads average around the 50 fish mark for the boat which isn't too bad.

Bill Barraclough from Barnsley is pictured with a few of his fish from the other day.

We have room for a few next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and the tides are perfect for wrecking.

Richard Horobrov from Barnsley, winner of the Spring angling competition, popped across to Whitby last weekend to collect his prize money.

Richard is a regular aboard the boat and won the competition on the Shy-Torque 2 days before the end of the event with a lovely cod an ounce short of 14 lbs.

He is pictured here with his £1000.00 cash 1st prize and a complementary bottle of Champagne (from Val & me)

Congratulations to you Richard and we'll see you in the Summer competition.

    10.05.18.

A lovely day at sea yesterday with my brother in law Dave Kitchingman and 4 of the members of Bradford SAC. 5 other lads joined the boat too.

The lads worked well all day and ended up with a nice few fish to take for the table. Best cod was only 7 lbs. A good number of codling around the 5 lb mark too.

Andy Holmes from Derbyshire is pictured with a few of his catch.

    Cheers

    08.05.2018.

Today George Ho and his mates from Manchester chartered the boat. He and the lads have a trip a month aboard the Shy-Torque and today's trip was a fairly good one.

We started off on a few wrecks to the North side of the harbour. The first one didn't produce much more than half a dozen or so but the second wreck did produce nicely The lads took 25 nice plump cod to around the 7 lb mark. We then moved off shore for some ground fishing where they continued to pick away with the cod for the rest of the day.

A nice day all round with great company and again some lovely summer weather.

George is pictured with one of his many "doubles" of the day.

    07.05.2018.

A mixed group of 7 with us today.

My old mates Nigel Hall and Tony from East Cowton, North Yorkshire and Ismail Naseeb and his lad Nabeel and friends joined us.

Again we decided to work the inshore marks and today the size of the fish had improved on yesterday. Not by much, granted, but a slightly better and plumper fish.

Between them the lads would have around 70 fish to keep which all in all is a good days work by any standard.

Beautiful calm weather for the best part of the day and bloody good company too making it a perfect day!!

    Cheers and tight lines

    06.05.2018.

Nigel Steer from Sheffield and 5 of his mates were with us on Sunday.

After the last couple of days working the local grounds with good results we decided to do the same run again. The fishing was steady all day long but unfortunately the "stamp" of fish was down on the previous couple of days.

The lads ended up with around 40 to keep and probably as many were returned to the water.

Again, the fish were taking everything offered to them!!

    Cheers

    05.05.2018.

Craig Giddings and his mates, Haydon & Janine and James joined us last Saturday and had a lovely day on the grounds on the 5, 7 and 9 mile.

They picked away all day from start to finish and ended up with a lovely show of cod to take back to West Yorkshire.

The water is still clearing nicely and we are catching steadily now on the Shads and Sidewinders as well as the squid baits.

The group are pictured with some of their catch.

    Cheers
    Rich
