This last weekend saw some very breezy conditions here at Whitby. We managed half a day with a team from Middlesborough on Saturday with nothing to report really. Sunday was cancelled for all with strong winds.
The lads on last Fridays trip however benefited from some lovely weather and we were able to get them amongst the fish really well.
Chris Parkins from Leeds and 4 of his mates joined us for the day. We started on the ground on the inside marks for half a dozen fish to 3 or 4 lbs. After half an hour scratting around we decided to push off shore to a couple of wrecks I have which I knew hadn't been touched for a good week or so. The first wreck produced around 15 fish to 7lb and the second producing much better with around 40 fish with cod to just short of 10lb.
The lads were made up with the day for being fortunate enough to drop on great weather and great fishing.
Most of the fish were taken on the shad and jelly's.
Chris and the lads are pictured with some of their catch.
Take a look in the gallery for some great pictures.

Paul Hoyle and 5 of his mates joined us on Thursday. Conditions weren't perfect but were fishable.
After a few hours the dreaded Mal de mere hit home with 3 of the crew falling ill.
This just left Paul, Ricky and Dave fishing and they managed to rake around 25 fish between them. The best fish falling to Ricky with a lovely golden cod of 9lb 3oz.
Not hectic fishing by any standards but the lads enjoyed the day and took plenty of fillets home for the table.

Hi all,
Some steady fishing whilst the weather has been holding up for us. The best day we have seen this last week or so was on a trip out to the "Wall" where the lads managed around 70 fish in total.
The water is still clearing out nicely now, both inshore and offshore and the algae seems to be waning at last.
A good number of mackerel have also been caught in the last few trips giving us some prime fresh bait for the rigs.
No massive fish to report this last few trips but some lovely quality fish for the table.
Regular angler on the Shy-Torque Bill Barraclough from Barnsley is pictured with a lovely prime Whitby cod just over 9lbs.
Cheers

A lovely day at sea yesterday for the lads. Perfect angling conditions.
A mixed group of lads joined us for what was to be a day of "scratching" around for a few fish here and there.
The quality of fish wasn't too bad, with the best fish of 8lb taken by Malcolm Stewart from Barrow in Furness. A lovely golden cod.
Malcolm is pictured.

Perfect weather greeted Danny Antcliffe and his mates from Hull the other day.
The fishing in the morning however wasn't so perfect ! After trying four wrecks for a mere half a dozen fish in the morning we decided that a look on the ground was in order.
A little "hot spot" I know was the next mark to try. Plenty of feed marking on the ledge and plenty of cod in amongst it made for a couple of hours of real good fishing. The lads pulled 50 cod from the mark in an hour or so and really saved the day for us. Great sport and some lovely prime fresh run cod for the table.

Hi all,
The last few trips for the anglers on the Shy-Torque have been very mixed indeed.
On the days when the weather and tides have been in our favour we have been seeing some half decent catches with cod to 15lb being taken. On the days when the tides have been big and the wind has hindered us we have been struggling to say the least. Some days we've only managed around 20 to 30 fish.
The good news is that the water is definately clearing with the majority of our better fish falling to the jelly lurres. Shads, Sidewinders etc.
The tides are big at present but do start falling away next week. We have room on most days next week so if you fancy a bash give me a call on any of the numbers. We will sail with a minimum of 3 anglers.

Some reasonably good fishing this last week on the Shy-Torque. Average catch for the boat has been around the 60 fish mark. Not outstanding, granted, but not too bad for the time of year. Fish being taken on the lures as well as the bait.
The tides are dropping nicely now and the water is also clearing so we are hoping the fishing is going to improve on last week.
