Plenty of pollack up to 6lb on the offshore wrecks on both trips on the bank holiday weekend. We also had an inshore beginners trip where we caught plenty of whiting, dogfish and some nice bull huss up to 14lb. First mackerel of the season too which was great to see!

Last Wednesday a lull in the weather allowed us to steam out to the offshore wrecks. Pollack were plentiful with a few coalies and one codling thrown in. The fishing was consistent, even through slack water, with 5 or 6 fish a drift, on most drifts. A great day's fishing in calm seas and fine weather.

September has been generally calm and warm and today was no exception. We hadn't run a bass trip all year so when a regular customer booked, with a few of his friends, we didn't know quite what to expect. Live sandeels are generally the key bait, but this late in the year they are not always a guaranteed in the trawl, on the way out. We were pleased to see a couple of hundred eels in the first tow, a great result for the time of year. With the first hurdle over with we could concentrate on the fishing. We had steady fishing through the day, and boated 21 bass ranging from 2lb to 4lb, also a nice codling and a couple of pollack. Steaming home we were treated to a fine sunset over glassy calm seas.....

Beautiful weather made for a pleasant steam to the offshore wrecks yesterday. Steady pollack fishing to a weight of 9lb was realised for most of the day.
Another calm day today made it easy to anchor on a couple of inshore wrecks. Noteable fish caught were 4 congers to 26lb, together with an 8lb ling, a couple of bull huss and a ray. Mackerel have been plentiful over the last couple of days inshore which has meant fresh bait has been readily available.
I have few spaces on a couple of trips over the next week or so.
Cheers, Carl. -

Its been a while since we ventured to the offshore wrecks but a great days pollack fishing was had by all today. A good stamp of fat, hard fighting fish, to 9lb, made for steady fishing all through the ebb, slack and first of the flood. A couple of codling and a 3lb Tub Gurnard were caught too. All signs for a good Autumn/early Winter wreck fishing season.
I have room on an 8 hour wreck fishing trip on 22nd September and 10 hour wreck fishing trips on 1st October, 20th October and 19th November at the moment.
Also room on an 8 hour ground fishing trip on 28th September.

The weather and fishing over the last few weeks have been challenging to say the least.
Today however bucked the trend. Glassy seas, great fishing and a good bunch of lads led to a very enjoyable day. Having tried ground fishing on their last trip the lads wanted to have a go on the wrecks. A day mostly spent at anchor, due to the small tide, meant gear losses, for an inexperienced crew, were kept to a minimum. We fished a couple of wrecks inshore and fishing was very steady all day, with notable catches of a 6lb cod and an 8lb ling. We racked up 12 species and the lads had a lovely mixed box of fish to take back to their local pub near Bala to be cooked for them this evening.
I have room on two trips at the moment, 10 hours wreck fishing on 17th September and an 8 hour ground fishing trip on 28th September.
I also have space for two on a three day Ireland trip on 2nd-4th October.
Cheers, Carl. -

A hard fought ground fishing trip today in less than ideal conditions. A rough old day presented itself with a north west ground swell from the previous night and a westerly force 4-5 but we managed to make the best of the weather. Mackerel proved hard work as they had been scattered by the swell from the north but we flicked out two or three dozen in the end.
We anchored on a mark about 6 miles out and soon had boated a 10lb thornback ray. A few decent bull huss and the usual dogs kept the lads occupied. Just before slack a run on one rod and a 10 minute battle led to a fine 38lb tope coming in through the stern door.
Well done lads for persevering with the weather (only one casualty!) and catching some great fish. -

After great start to the day with plenty of mackerel for bait we decided to try to anchor for most of the trip. A few huss and a thornback were caught on an inshore mark while the tide was running. A steam off to an inshore wreck to anchor over low water produced some nice ling (up to 10lb) and a few congers (up to 14lb) and plenty of huss (to 13lb). A good mixed bag of fish complemented with a lovely sunny day.
There's space on a few wreck fishing trips listed in the schedule.

Plenty of mackerel yesterday inshore and some great ground fishing also. Plenty of codling, pollack, coalfish, whiting, bull huss, dogfish and one thornback ray. Weather seems settled for the foreseeable so we're looking forward to some productive trips over the weekend. I have room on 4, 10 hour midweek wreck trips, listed in the schedule. Three days of offshore pollack fishing culminated in a fantastic day today. Seas were calm, tides ideal and the fish were on the feed. One of our midweek 10 hour individual wrecking trips resulted in all the lads taking many pollack between 2 and 10 lb with many fish around the 5-6lb stamp. We are running an individual midweek 10 hour wrecking trip every two weeks throughout the summer. Check the schedule for details.
