Only 1 match on the boat this week,we had the Royal Navy vs the England home nations team in preparation for the home nations in 2 weeks. Very difficult conditions for me in the very strong northerly wind, struggled to get the boat right on the fish Ocean Runner being the bigger boat handle the conditions much better and absolutely smashed it almost trembling my scores on the day. Not that many species due to the manner of the rules and scoring system, however we did have some stunning Bream. Top 3 on each boat Ocean Runner
1st Chris Super Rod Rogers 147
    2nd Cliff Newbold 133
    3rd John Bellamy 118
    Piscary
    1st Kev Samson 57
    2nd Gary Geoghegan 53
    3rd Malcolm Stote 50
On the pleasure side of things this week we have had a mega week, plenty of really nice Bream around still and lots of species, too many to mention but including a bit late first Garfish of the year Flounders! Silver Eels and our second ever Greater Weaver!

20 Apr 2024 by Matt Rowe

Mixed results in the fishing again this week. On Thursday we managed to get offshore for a change and the fishing was very good with 34 Bullhuss mostly low doubles, Tope again very good average size up to around 30lb ,a big Smoothound of around 12lb ,1 Spotted Ray and 2 Spurs plus Congers and Whiting.
On Friday we had the latest round of the Friday Species League. Unfortunately there was a very strong north westerly wind combined with small ebbing tide all day which made the fishing very difficult, still managed 15 species between the 2 boats including plenty of Bream and at last a few nice Plaice. Top 3 on each boat where
    Piscary
    1st Ray Barron 183
    2nd Perry Dack 172
    3rd Darren Phillips 158.
    Ocean Runner
    1st Steve Bachelor 162
    2nd Steve Lodge 137
    3rd Alan Bird 100
Next it was the Kings Arms Southampton, after such a good day on Friday they decided to venture offshore, unfortunately the north east wind and stronger tides made it difficult fishing, again they did catch a few but not as good as Friday ended up with 12 Species. Top in the points were
    Ed Taylor 206
    Paul Hollyoake 177
    Richard Dicky Day 155.
Just like to remind all match anglers that if you intend fishing the Poole species hunt please get your entries in as soon as possible.
