A great first day out with Rich Cope and Mistress.
Slow start but once the tide turned the sport picked up quickly.
Good trip with Rich and crewman Alex, whose 7 year son Kai took the top spot on the day.
Great bag of cod, including a 7 pounder put us all to shame. Top man Kai, a star in the making.
Watch out Rich he'll be after your job next
My first trip with this skipper but definitely not the last

We managed to get to sea on Sunday again this weekend,

we got off to fairly slow start in the morning, but I knew things would improve once the tide turned, the fishing came on with a bang once it did.

even though it wasnt a hectic day we managed between 45 & 50 Codlings for the day, a few of the lads managed close on double figure bags to mostly worm and squid cocktail baits.

Top rod Kai Leadley (7) managed the biggest bag and biggest fish of the day, a cracker at 7lb 2oz, beating his PB, well done mate, top fishing!

We managed another successful day at sea again today here at ‪Whitby‬ aboard ‪Mistress‬ .

Everyone got among the fish with them taking mainly squid / worm cocktails.

The best lad landed well over 20 fish himself today, throwing many back just keeping enough for the table. we saw a good few fish in the 5-6lb region today, and as always everything under 40cm went back alive.

With the tides building I expect we will continue to enjoy sport inshore to Uptide tactics.

We have space available on sunday if youre interested give us a shout on 07977 436903, tight lines, Rich

The end to the half term holidays finished with two families each with three generations of angler on board ‪Mistress‬ Both regulars with us, we managed put a trip together last minute as a gap in the weather allowed us to get to sea.

It was a very cold, fresh, crisp morning, but by 10am, it was a lovely day with bright sunshine all day, flat seas, what more could you want from a winters day ‪‎uptiding‬ at ‪whitby‬ . a few fish? yeah we well and truly covered that one too!

With, Andy, Phil & Matthew on one side of the boat, and Rich, Mike, Will & Hanry on the other side, both families set about taking a steady picking of fish all day. It was great to see all the family banter between them all, we only had to move a few times through the day to keep us on the action.

The majority of the fish were all in the 2-3lb bracket, a few smaller and a few bigger. As always I try to encourage putting anything back under 40cm unless its gut hooked, and the lads did a sterling job with the catch and release effort.

With a count up of around 70 codlings for the day the lads were all as pleased as punch with their day at sea. well done men!

    Sunday 15th Feb.
Even though the forecast was looking a liitle bit dodgy, after giving the weather charts some study there looked to be a window of opportunity Sunday morning. so, as I always do if I'm a bit unsure, I give the lads the 50/50 option, so its up to them to make the trip if they want to, but if they dont, they dont lose their deposit.

Needless to say most of the lads jumped at the opportunity to get to sea. as it was we managed to get the morning before it deteriorated and we came in. The tide was a bit on the small side and there wasnt much when we got out, we still managed fish from every mark we fished though.

It was hard work, BUT everybody caught codlings, The lads chose to throw a lot of the fish back even though they were size, which is really encouraging to see anglers acting responsibly preserving future sport for us.
We counted up what we had caught through the morning and we finished with between 25 & 30 codlings.

The sport was a little slow but if we'd got the day in we may have doubled that. we got photos of a few of the better fish we had which may have pushed 4lb.

All in all not a bad morning in great company,

We are starting to fill the diary for the summer already folks, I really would recommend booking early to avoid disappointment, if you fancy a trip out of ‪#whitby‬ give us a call on 07977 436903.

    Thursday 12th Feb.

I had a trip arranged but got let down when a group never phoned in, but I had a couple of regulars on, so with only 2 lads, I sailed.

It was never frantic today but we took a steady picking all day, between the three of us we managed to rake up around 40 codlings, considering it was a dead tide it fished well. the best angler taking nearly 20 himself! Here's a few photos from today, cheers for a cracking day Peter & Dennis.

    Friday 6th Feb.

Evening all, I know my posts aren't in order but I've had a busy week and I'm just getting on top of everything! Well we had a bit of a red eye special on Friday. The gap in the weather fell perfectly for us, we had a crew of 4 lads for our day trip 7am-4pm, and to be honest it fished very well for us, no big ones to report but plenty of 2-4lbers, a count up at the end of the day saw a tally of around 70 codlings landed for the day.
the best angler landing 22 codlings.

We got back in, and with the forecast staying favourable, waited for the tide and went back out 6pm-midnight.

Everyone I know who has been on a night time trip had always really enjoyed it, currently ‪mistress‬ is the only boat offering these trips out of ‪‎whitby‬ . The tide took a while getting going, but we eventually started rattling a few fish out, Gary who chartered the boat for himself caught the two biggest of the night both 5-6lbers and got smashed by a hell of fish near the end of the night.

Needless to say we had a great day and night, if you fancy trying a trip with a difference, give us a call on 07977 436 903, tight lines, Rich

Another gap in the weather saw us putting to sea with a group of Mistress regulars.

I was a bit unsure of how it pan out for us with the tides being as big as they are at the minute, we fished an area that hasnt been touched for while, and were rewarded with some great fishing all day long. The lads managed to amass a great catch of between 80 & 90 Codlings, with many returned. The best angler taking 25+ codlings himself.

Most of the Cod were in the 2lb-4lb bracket with a couple of better ones thrown in, the best topping the boat scales at 9lb 8oz for Nigel Horan of Halifax.

I try to encourage throwing anything under 40cm back, we had to keep a few that were deep hooked, but great conservation effort again lads, well done.

Top baits were black lug, Cart, mussel and squid.

Another gap in the weather allowed us to get to sea again this weekend.

A very cold morning greeted us on saturday, but it turned out a lovely day, not the most hectic but a steady picking of fish all day with some nice fish among them.

we had a good few just over 6lb but most in the 2-4lb bracket.

best angler took a dozen cod home, the fish seem to have switched on to cart again. those fishing with cart had plenty of bites.

we lost two very good fish too, but thats fishing!

    Monday 5th Jan.

We started the year off with a bang again this year, we only had three lads fishing but we took a steady picking all day resulting in between 60 & 70 Cod for the lads. lets hope its the sign of things to come!

They weren't greedy and returned a lot of in size fish. Its always great to see responsible conservation minded anglers on board!

Nothing big, most were in the 2-4lb bracket with a few pushing maybe 6lb
