    Bringing us up to date to weekend of 10/11 Sep 2017, have gone from catching some amazing tope action on the banks to last couple of weeks struggling as summer fish moving off and the dreaded winter whiting showing up! The odd decent smoothound still about and few spotty dogs inshore still and pictured here small roker caught by first timer on the Flyer Artur from Norwich returned for another day. We find these skate return for around a month and then disappear so hopefully will be getting a few from now on till weather turns and we see the codling return. If your planning a weekend trip for cod and need a Sat or Sun please get in as quite a few dates have gone already some partially booked as well dont leave it till last minute. We will try do more evenings this winter as weather allows as we dont have to go far and usually wind drops so look out for those, home by midnight leave about 6pm. So will see what happens rest of this month bit mish and mash but always is until then tight lines everyone. Jon (High Flyer)

    Bringing us up to date been bashing the tope as you can see picture today of Barry regular on High Flyer with his first ever tope , went off like a train thought it was alot bigger due to fight put up. All tope returned unharmed with wire hooks that rust out in case of snapoffs conservation a big part now in tope fishing. The feathering producing thousands of sandeels which this particular tope was caught on, mackerel been patchy for us, few gurnards and weavers and odd flatty thrown in. The bass gone off the boil just the odd one or two at the moment plenty of smoothies still about even tiny little pups still. Best fish(tope) at the moment stands at 31lb fell to Karl Bird from lincs hopefully heavier ones lurking around time will tell keep eye on website and our facebook page under ( Jon Old High flyer ) or (High Flyer Sea Fishing Trips). will be trying up to the weekend for few more tope weather permitting so see what happens if you fancy your hand at catching one of these let me know will make few more trips up, until then tight lines everyone.     Aug 1st 2016 bringing us up to date , steamed out ten miles offshore to a favourite mark of mine the weather perfect, bit of strong tides start of the springs but we coped well i thought. Started off fishing for tope straight away with mackerel from previous day Tom caught first one of 28lb nice fish unfortunately grazed and rubbed all skin off his arm little bit of claret but hes hard! Slack water approaced so feathers out for the usual tons of sandeels, few mackerel still not thick, plenty of weavers and nice little gurnards too with odd flatty about. After slack Fishing was a bit tough in the tide has couple of runs which amounted to nothing ended up doing a bit of bassing on the drift but no bass today . Only other boated tope was todays picture of Chris first tope for him so though be nice to show weighed in at 25lb leaving him tottally knackered and needing a tea! Used the new tailer today pleased with that as very angry customers these tope like to bite anything onboard so count your toes afterwards! wasnt the most productive of days tope wise but ok for the tides and feathers made up for it, big thanks to Steve for organising the trip Tom and Chris and first timers Brett , Andy and Nathan much appreciated men look forward to next time.     first time we have been on the high flyer, certainly wont be the last, was made to feel very welcome by everyone on the boat, nothing was to big or to small for these guys, had a good laugh, tea, coffee, bacon roll oh and some great fishing as well, anyone looking for some sea fishing on the east coast look no further, highly recommended, cu again.....real soon,

    Great day today weather wise decided to take advantage and head out in search for tope as requested. Started off with a bit of feathering the mackerel not thick bit patchy, the sandeels came in all the while. Few flatties and weavers to add. I caught small cod over a wreck nice stocking filler. After filling the tubs we decided to drift for bass wind spun the boat in a circle bit of a pain so anchored up just off the rough water in 60ft. First tope was the smallest 16lb , then a 19lb followed by a 20lb and finally picture here of Chris Merrison with todays biggest of 30lb, we boated four and lost three others pity really. Big thanks to Chris Morgan for organising the lads from Bedford,Chris, Melvin,John , also regulars Barry ,Gareth,and Chris and finally another Chris Kilpatrick with his first tope ever well done men. So after a confusing day with four Chris,s on the boat today was most enjoyable look forward to seeing you all soon. Cheers men, Jon (High Flyer)

    Bringing us up to date had weak tides so divers on most of the week been out 30 miles still very poor for mackerel just caught whiting on the feathers! Viz is great so might throw a wrecking trip next weak tides if anyone interested? Picture this week is of the lads from Spalding organised by Carl Knights big thanks to him,everyone first time on the High Flyer nice to see new faces was reasonably hard fishing very blowy so inshore glad we got a few fish . Look forward to seeing you boys in winter hopefully much appreciated.

    Tides building for this week out Thursday for bass i would imagine on these tides ,only couple places left hopefully jig for sandeel then bit of drifting could do with a tope to be honest so guess what i.ll be doing!

    Bringing us up to date looks like plenty smoothounds about crab best bait at moment. Having a bit of fun with them also few bass about if you want to fish for them, Getting a few mackerel if we can get out not thick at the moment but that will come,plenty of sandeels huge ones too! Cant shake the whiting inshore and off, nice to see few gurnards as well, Spotty dogs thinned out which is a blessing looking at flatty bashing soon as these tides drop off,this weekend could see few tope after these springs. Big thanks to the parties last week on Jeff Becks managed to get out and hit few mackerel and then inshore for smoothies, on Alan Becks strong winds kept us right inshore so harder fishing managed few smoothies mixed bag of whiting and not forgetting whelks! Right up to date pictured here was Wed 6th trip hit the smoothounds first bit of the tide then onto the bass bank for a few bass odd sandeel as well on the feathers ended up enjoyable day in the sun shame still on big tides but thought we done well. Full boat next week everyday unfortunately few places week after still ring might be able to fit you on another local vessel.     Weekend of June 25th/26th 2016 weather was lovely flat calm seas and a bit of sun makes a change! Decided to look offshore for mackerel as bit of sun on the water and reasonably clear for the viz, so headed north unfortunately had to wait as we missed the tide so burned a bit of time inshore off Winterton catching few smoothies , had one small bass which was great. After few hours headed out to first bank produced on the feathers a herring, a scad and one mackerel followed by sandeeels so out further ended up on the 9 miler where we connected with a few, Crackin sandeels too big for bait! Picture today is of Danny with couple of smoothies first time on Flyer . Sunday was much of the same more mackerel today same sort of area, again brilliant sandeels, tide raced a bit offshore so headed in for bit of drifting, i lost good take on mackerel head snapped me up . Ended up inside to finish the day off with too many pesky whiting , few more smoothies and late again home as usual was most enjoyable weekend, big thanks to the lads Saturday all way from Liecester, also Dereham Angling on Sunday looking forward to the next one.     Bringing us up to date weekend of 11th and 12th June 2016, lovely settled conditions really with weak tides was rather hoping for a bit of mackerel bashing but still none around at the moment. Saturday was a little bit disappointing with the wind turning easterly as it always put the fish off as we all know but managed to pluck a few out the bag. Only one skate of 6 and half pounds today to chris, few smoothies biggest just over 6lb to Dave, spotty dogs throughout the day with whiting and flatties thrown in. reports from the beach was dismal so i thought we done ok. As for Sunday 12th June 2016 tide fell right to visit a bass bank on the 6 miler started off with few doggies until Richard pulled out first one pictured here of 6lb to be followed by Alex first time on the Flyer with first ever bass of 4lb all returned healthy as the law requires till July 1st then 1 bass per day per angler. few nice smoothies thrown in today, usual spotty dogs and whiting but no flatties today! Also today lovely downpour sort of thing you need when fishing and a bit of drama with a rope fouling the prop! Managed to limp home unaided big thanks to RNLI who were on standby just in case appreciate the phone calls lads. in all not a bad weekend few nice fish, thanks to everyone , roll on the mackerel i say, until then tight lines people.

    Forcast of no wind today along with the strong tides seemed a good day for bass so headed out on the 5 miler bank to see what would occur. Decided to have a rest bite for couple of hours inside to burn the strongest of the tide out bit of a slow start few spotty dogs and whiting, moved again further down when few smootheys appeared . Eventually got to our mark, straight away the rods dipped me thinking bass reality another smoothound! Few nice few fish giving good fights in the strong tide , also a skate came aboard but unfortunately no bass. Was surrounded by couple of long liners which didnt help but there you go, pictured today was paul layton with best one of the day, ended up with the wind increasing out of nowhere ,wind against tide making it quite choppy so back inside for much of the same fish. was a enjoyable day big thanks to 3 newbies on the boat, steve from Southend, and Derek and Martin from London all good banter hopefully see you all again at some point. Also thanks to regulars Paul and Barry and Pete shame about the bass but the liners never had any either so obviously nott there today. Heres to next time.
