Thought it best to add a report as we have not bothered lately. This is down to most trips being cancelled, the weather has been in the east for nearly three weeks now becoming a joke . Completely fed up with the lovely british weather look at the picture! Our trips between the storms have been mostly whiting, very few codling, so much baitfish in the water the cod have been mid water chasing the shoals and not on the bottom. Have had tremendous herring hauls within ten minutes three or four boxes no wonder we cant get to the fish with so much feed available. Good news is the fish are thinning out, after easter the tides slacken so going out wind dependable, to the 14 mile marks for early skate hope to also see the dogs making a return . Clocks change and add an hour to your tide time tables dont forget BST is 31st march. So hopefully a change in the weather soon, looking forward to the best time of year, clear water, hot sun and plenty of bites weve been through the worst now, bring on the makerel and sandeels, big bass and those fantastic tope. Hope you can join us at some point ,look forward to seeing you all for some rod bending sessions soon.
    All the best,
    Jon. (High Flyer)

Jon Old (Skipper) really tried hard to get us fish in the boat. He certainly wasn't shy on using his diesel to move us where the fish should be (no bites, we power on), nor shy on hot drinks and biscuits, a true gent who made everyone welcome. A few Whiting were caught (Jon even gave me a Dab he landed). Nothing was spared, brand new hooks from the word go. Jon is the third Skipper I've left the Gt Y harbour with, and he is the one I will be going with next time.

Sunday started very foggy, vis down to 30 feet, bit dodgey for netting so headed the far side of Corton Bank away from boat traffic, shot away only an hour before slack only 2 nets as fog still about. Waited till slack was nearly done as herring rise as this point then quick pull in over the stern which i never do! Resulted in nice lovely big herring as used 2&quarter mesh, 3 boxes in 2 nets not bad! Anchored up in the roads and caught whitting again as we took the fish out and back in for lunch. Lovely little jolly very enjoyable, plenty of skate bait for next month.
Thanks to Dave and James pictured here, if you fancy a herring netting session please email me, can organize a dedicated trip for your party, and hopefully you all go home with a carrier bag full each. We work around the tide so timing is crucial, or for more info ring me on the mobile.

Headed out today steamed out to 12 mile bank, taking in 2 wreck drifts on the way. No fish at all on either wreck very dissapointing! Just lost leads! As the tide picked up it proved difficult to hold bottom, so beaten back to 8 mile sands, where we still struggled for fish. Only whitting and couple of flats today, lots of decent marks on the sounder, no cod biting today. Plenty of bait fish jumping around us, my thoughts turned to possible spawning weeks where fish go off the feed , no explanation for lack of fish as sounder was full at times?Radio traffic info was that all boats were struggling today.
Thanks to Adrian pictured here, first time out, also Tony,Steve,Paul,Jim ,Dave,Warren,James and Dave appreciate you coming out,we tried really hard, moved 4 times, lets hope we get a spring run.

What a day today turned out. Options were limited with forcast , decided to to attempt 5 mile mark, bit lumpy to say, knew we wouldnt have long there but we had to try. I did see the clouds of gulls behind the supply vessels churning sprats up i had this before which led to a bad day. On the 5 miler plenty of marks on the sounder but no fish came aboard at all. Had to move as the tide turned against wind becoming unfishable , headed with the other boats inshore grouped together as usual! Whiting all day few decent ones as pictured with Paaul here. No cod at all, believed all the boats were struggling. Was a non stop windy day, good banter as usual, thanks to lads for understanding the lack of cod, we moved 3 times in all, just too many bait fish, all whiting throwing up sprats. Thanks to Ian for organizing the lads, with, Alister,Paul,Dave,Scott,Chris,Vinny,Ross,Dave, and Shaun, appreciate you all coming out, hope we have better fish next time and weather!!!!!!! All the best men. Jon.

went out with JON on HIGH FLYER today 26/01/2013 weather was a bit skitey but out to corton roads and the sun shone down first couple of drops at anchor produced a decent cod of around 3lb and a couple of whiting, the whiting kept us busy for the rest of the day with the odd 3lb cod nodding a few rods 4 more in all had to have been around forty or so whiting caught on the day but only about 5 or 6 being sizeable " fish fingers "anybody lol. JON kept every one in high spirits with his local fishing knowledge and his cups of coffee tea and choccy bickies never went for any of his posh "soups" though all in all a good day had by all enjoyed my first trip out on a yarmouth charter and will be booking up again real soon CHEERS JON

Excellent day out again with Jon and the lads, expected some larger fish as the cold weather and rough seas had put pay to any fishing for a couple of weeks but not to be, even though most enjoyable there were a few Cod
and some decent Whiting maybe next time we can get out to the deeper water and bag a few bigger fish, good day with plenty of coffee and soup to keep you warm.

Headed out today meeting a very swelly sea, scuppering plans of our 5 mile bank, quite surprised at the height, would be impossible to anchor up and fish sensibly so yes back to old Corton Roads our saviour! Bit lumpy till slack water but one cod straight away with the whiting making a show as the water eased. The whiting stayed with us most of the day not as big as they have been ,few keepers among them, ended up the day with 5 cod , no flatties at all today and a surprised token pouting! Thanks to the lads for coming out today, weather was good, most enjoyable with our normal banter! Thanks to first timers on the High Flyer, John and Derek and Brian ,hope your trip was memorable, also Chalky,Steve and Len pictured, Paul,Dave, and Chris.
And from me thanks lads for washing down on way home, not many do and its very much appreciated. Top marks lads, wasnt the greatest of catches but thoroughly enjoyed your company, See you all soon, .Jon.
