A cracking stamp of fish caught on today trip with a good amount of Cod boarded.
Loads of mackerel now showing at long last. And plenty of sport on the shads and lures again.
We did get a few strappy ling on this trip aswel so it won't be long before we see the better ones.
Great set of lads with a few been complete novice anglers, after today's fishing I think we have got them all hooked now.

Not the best of conditions at all with a few suffering with the effects of sea sickness early on but the winds were due to die down and they did giving the anglers some really good fishing.
All of the anglers gave it a good go even those feeling unwell and recovered quickly when fish started coming aboard
Also great to see the kids enjoying it aswel -

Report on-board Shy-Torque III
Yesterday’s mixed group of lads enjoyed a nice day at sea working the inshore ground marks to start off as the breeze from the NW was a bit fresh to start.
View Boats Page
The fishing was steady to start off but as the breeze eased by lunchtime the fishing picked up and one or two better fish started to poke their heads out.
Nick Ball taking the best of the day, a nice Ling of
12lb 2 oz.
Plenty of Mackerel for bait and the barbecue too!
Cheers

3 out of the 7 were experienced course anglers and the other 4 were absolute beginners.
Our Charlie couldn’t make the trip to crew, so a mate of mine Mathew Spinks who had been fishing with me for the last fortnight, joined us to help out and helped me to explain all the “ins and outs” before we started.
We started at the Bouy to try for some Mackerel to start off and they were in abundance. Literally 2 minutes there and we had enough bait for the day!!
We chose to work the rough ground/reefs after that, hoping that we could get a picking going there without having to try any wrecks.
A dozen Codling on the first short drift and 3 Ling was good enough for a start and the lads were buzzing!!
A couple of double-ups on the drift too.
We stayed on the first mark until around 11.30am and gathered a lovely show of Codling and Ling. Nothing big at all but plenty of fish to the 5lb mark.
A short move to another bit of ground after we’d exhausted the first stop, where the lads finished the day with another 10 or so fish.
The breeze then picked up from the NW and was very fresh at times (not forecast!) so the lads decided that a slightly earlier finish was ok and we headed back for port.
I told the lads that I would gladly fillet all their fish when we got back and suggested they nipped for a pint or 2 whilst I processed their fish which they did.
All in all, a fabulous day had by all.
Cheers lads and we’ll see you again next year.
Enjoy the skiing Stuart!!!
All the best,
Rich

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)

Report on-board Galloper
Our 4 hour trips continue to prove popular at this time of year. With the blackwater estuary on our door step we have had plenty of great fishing to choose from over the last few weeks on them. The schoolie bass that we often expect were a little late this year. In stead our first few trips saw several roker and hounds as the best fish. a few years ago I would have been surprised at hounds so close in but we see them more often nowadays. Of course the bass did turn up and they have provided us with some great sport. Alex books an annual trip for himself, his father and his brother to enjoy out with us. the lads now expect to see string full’s of schoolie bass coming in and always hope to find a keeper amongst them for the table. This year we were lucky enough to have 4 nice bass along with countless schoolies and a couple of roker too. The lads were very pleased to have something for dinner as well as a nice trip out.

Ian booked a short trip up while visiting Mersea on a family holiday. His sons Olly and James joined him for a few hours fishing too. We were lucky enough to start our trip with string full’s of bass on feathers before some bait fishing. I could barely keep up with the rate of fish coming over the side to be honest. we put a move in to try and find something bigger for the lads before the end of the trip. James came up trumps first with a sizable bass for the bbq. Both James and Olly had roker next and Ian topped it all off with a stingray before we headed in. the lads were very happy with their trip, as was the skipper. I often say I get a different kind of buzz from taking out novices on trips like these and they help to keep things fresh amidst a busy summer.
If I get enough interest I will offer up a few more of these short trips so please get in touch and I will see what I can do.
Our general trips are producing hounds and bass as we would expect. Some great examples of each are showing. Offshore our bass trips have started off well and will keep us busy until the end of November. I have spaces on these (including this Saturday) on various days for full boat bookings and individuals. Please get in touch to get booked on.

Fishing Report by Andy Savage
on Sea Urchin IIl (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
Apologies for missing catch reports over the weekend when I did actually go to sea, but quite frankly, I didn’t have much to report on.
View Boats Page
As I’ve mentioned before, I won’t fabricate and say it’s great when it isn’t. On both Saturday and Sunday the weather and tide were not in our favour. With it being 5m tide time again, we were mainly on the rough ground. When the wind and tide got together, our drift speed was up to 2 knots at times, which made the fishing tricky.
Credit to every single angler; they all gave it their best and remained positive. We did catch fish over the weekend when the conditions went in our favour, but nothing of any size. Our biggest Ling of the weekend went to Juned Islam at 7lb and we had Codling to around 4lb. The fishing was far from exceptional, but that is the way it goes sometimes. I will always try my best to find some feeding fish.
Today however, was a different story…. with a group of seven onboard, including “Clan McDonald”; father and son team Malc and Alan. Much lighter southerly winds gave us some great fishing conditions in the morning. We took advantage and dropped on a couple of wrecks while the drift speed allowed. We were taking 3-4 fish a drift, with some decent fish amongst them.
I’m pleased to report that at a sprightly 83 years old, Malc was not only top rod, but he also caught the biggest fish of the day at 13lb 8oz! What a legend….
We had plenty of fish in the morning and everyone took away a good few for the table. Thanks to everyone for a great day out in nice weather.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl
