Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
After a few days off with poor fishing/weather conditions, we went back for a look on Thursday and Friday (today) this week.

With us being back on larger 5m tides, we spent Thursday chasing fish on the inshore wrecks and rough ground. A firm believer in telling it how it is; we struggled to put many fish aboard. We tried rough ground at five, seven and nine miles, along with some inshore wrecks.
For whatever reason, the bites were hard to come by. Most drifts would see one or two fish come up, but nothing of any size. A wreck at nine miles provided some reasonable sport for an hour, which was the highlight of the day. Ian Kellock was top rod (no change there then!) with a dozen Codling to 4lb.
With a similar tide today, I thought it best if we had a run off to some wrecks a bit further out. Arriving at the first wreck half an hour before slack water, with a mixed abilities group on board, some of the lads struggled to control their gear through what is a “chewy” wreck. That said, Keith McCance and Jim Lister got stuck straight in with a couple of Ling and Codling apiece to 6lb.
Slack water itself was fairly unproductive, but as soon as the Ebb tide got away, “first timer” Joe Mould took the biggest fish of the day; a nice Ling at 13lb 8oz, much to the surprise of his mates. The second wreck we visited also produced well, in periods. Top rod for the day Keith McCance, took the biggest Codling at a smidge over 8lb along with a fair few others. A switch to baited Hokkai’s certainly brought about more bites on this wreck.
Everyone persevered and everyone got themselves a few to take home. In terms of fishing, it wasn’t right up there as the best day out ever, but we kept on trying and picked away all day. Thanks to all the boys for a nice couple of days out.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

Not very good at all for the majority of yesterday’s mixed group of lads.

That is with the exception of my mate Derek Wiggins from Leeds who always works his socks off on every trip!
He fished a single 220g jig all day and ended up with 15 Codling and 2 Ling himself! 100% effort paid dividends.
Phil Ross from Stratford taking 8 fish himself too.
A challenging drift at nearly 2 knots making it really quite hard work catching to be honest.
Great humour all day though with a great bunch from Hook nr Goole.
Great to meet you all lads.
Summer Competition starting here at Whitby tomorrow. Big cash prizes on offer!!
Cheers
Rich

Quick one!

Plenty of sizeable bass around especially on the lures the better ones arevcoming up among the schoolies too! The Bigger bass showing in deeper water as always,
Hound fishing is better inshore than offshore at the moment & live hermits from my pots have definitely got the edge on the big hounds!!
Rays are a bit slow but haven’t really targeted them much but numbers are down this season im Sure if you target them you’ll get a few.
Tope are showing offshore had lots of small to medium ones but no monsters this season yet! But there is still plenty of time
you do need the fresh mackerel for these & they have just started to show finally.
I am mainly targeting bass at the moment especially on the lures its great fun !!!
il do hound trips when its too windy to get offshore in the sheltered waters been some big fish close to home too!
Thanks everyone for the support see you all aboard soon diary is very busy try to book in advance if you can but there is loads of time to
Get out yet

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)
Jun 2022 by Scott Belbin
Report on-board Galloper
We have seen a fair variety of weather on our trips from flat calm (occasionally) to squally showers. Thankfully it has been sunny and warm for the most part (as you may tell from the colour of my nose and my panda eyes). With various directions of wind we have been grateful that there are plenty of fish to be found in most places. Our general trips have been mostly targeting hounds and bass. Although plenty of other species have made up the numbers including thorn-backs, dogfish and even numbers of small tope. We have seen other species too including tub gurnard and a few silver eels. Tim and the boys had a great day the other week. Tim may have missed the sun but he and the boys had some great fun catching rays, dogfish, bass and some decent hounds. There was no shortage of energy and enthusiasm from the boys who did their best to keep me on my toes as usual. The biggest hounds went into double figures which put a smile on all of our faces.

My next spaces offshore are for tope. These are for experienced anglers only and I don’t offer hire rods for this fishing. I only have a few suitable tides left for tope fishing this year offshore trips will mainly concentrate on bass after that.
