was a very canny day with the fishing more or less none stop for about 5 hours, nothing bigger than 5lbs. but certainly plenty of codlings
with anglers getting over 20 fish each, keeping everybody busy
and the weather cooperating for a change
very promising signs of the spring run of codlings
we still have some weekend dates still available for may please ring or txt allan 07808684358 -

With the weather limiting spots where we could fish comfortably and with a couple of newbies from London .fishing was slow with few small hounds then a bit of seasickness forced us to move inshore we knew the chance of any good hounds was slipping away so we tried for a skate straight away they played ball ended up with a good session on them with our skate virgins getting in on action. Now 1 of the crew is Captain while I prepare fish Happy Days .Taking bookings inbox Dawn on Facebook or message on 07854772314

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
Beautiful weather conditions for a run out to some wrecks in the 20 mile stream today.
View Boats Page
With only a few Codling from the first three wrecks, the doubts started to creep in; until we landed on a wreck just at the end of the Ebb Tide, and first drift we had eight of the rods in at once!
Slack water was unproductive today, but we stuck it out until the flood tide got away, and the fish started to feed again. We finished off the day picking nicely and certainly left plenty of fish behind for another day.
The average size of the fish was much better today, with Mat Rodgers taking his biggest ever Codling at 9lb 4oz, with quite a few in 5-6lb range. Squid on bait traces dominated, but Gordon Yates did manage a few on the Shads as the water continues to clear out.
It was a beautiful day out at sea, in great company. Hopefully things continue in the same vein for the coming days. I’ve got spaces available on Tuesday, Wednesday next week, if anyone fancies a run out.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

Cracking weather and banter throughout the day and some excellent fishing on the first wreck we touched on.
50 plus fish boated by lunchtime by the lads.
Pete Tamms from Leeds taking the best of the day, a reasonable Ling just over 9lbs.
Tarron Spurr taking the best Cod of the day at 8lb 14oz.
A great day enjoyed by all.

Today Merlin had an 8hr Charter with a regular group of great guys.
We set sail at 10:15 and head 8nm NNE of Rhyl where we had a good hr fishing constantly for Herring, Mackerel and Sand Lance.
After our fill of fish on the drift, we dropped our anchor a few mile further south and fished the bottom for the next few hours.
We sat happily for the next few hours fishing constantly for Thornback Rays, Bull Huss, Dogs, Dabs and Whiting.
We returned to Rhyl at 18:15 with a more than satisfied bunch.
A brilliant days fishing indeed, cracking weather and a great group of anglers.
We still have spaces for Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week and the weather looks brilliant too.
To take advantage of the good weather and fishing, call Sarah on 07863774909 and join us on Merlin -

General fishing in Weymouth Has been pretty steady.

Wreck fishing has proved challenging with any notable catches coming on the spring tides species had been mainly pollock with the odd coal fish and cod.
Inshore has been pretty good with turbot and brill on the banks as well as rays , tope , spurs and the early bream showing up the east.
This year my aim is to encourage more light tackle fishing to really make the most of every fish hooked onboard for example bream on spinning gear and light weights as well as rays and flats conger and Huss on similar gear would be a brilliant scrap.
Dates still available on good tides and weekends.
