Last year 2021 was the best and busiest of my Charter 16 year period. Lots of trips and the Plaice and Bass fishing unbelievable. I also bagged my PB Bass and Blue Fin Tuna and had some great boat records including a 400lb Porbeagle Shark. Now I tend to use this site for its fantastic diary and for advertising spaces. Today was a day of mixed fishing; split between drifting rough ground and wrecks. With the tide being on the large side, we could only drop on a wreck when it eased down at slack water.
Starting off on the rough ground at 7 miles, we had three drifts for only a couple of small fish. With the light winds, the boat drift was slower than expected, so we went to have a go on a wreck.
This turned out to be much more productive, with a couple of Codling a drift coming up on squid baited muppets. The biggest fish falling to Dave Williams at just shy of 6lb.
Once the Ebb Tide got going we moved back to the rough ground at nine miles, where we picked away with Codling and a few Whiting for the remainder of the day.
Hokkai’s baited with Squid were the order of the day on the ground.

Today saw kestrel warrior 6 newhaven going out to some wrecks off Newhaven it was a steady day wether improved as the day progressed we ended up with 9 species of fish

The last of 5 consecutive days at sea and what a lovely way to complete this block of fishing! Another Bream trip to the rocks in search of some Spring fish and the crew absolutely nailed it! Frantic at times, slower at others but the general quality of fish was extremely high. Colin (pictured) is probably feeling pretty pooped right now, he seemed to be into a fish every couple of minutes and most were of a similar and fantastic stamp to this one…… very well done Col.
Fun and laughter all day from an outstanding group, great fish for the table and a happy crew - perfect days inshore fishing.
