With the tides running strong on a 5.7m we chose to do some Uptiding yesterday.
View Boats Page
We used the tide and ran a few miles to the North of the harbour to some inshore ground.
The ebb tide produced the best with the lads picking away with the Codling until slack water.
A good number of small Billet boated too.
The change of tide brought the freshening South Easterly which always spoils things and made the ride home a bit blashy!
Steve Knott from Manchester took the daily first in the competition with a Codling an ounce under 4lb. Not a big fish by any standard but it still won him the £50.00 daily prize.
Cheers
Rich

Merlin set out from Rhyl at 11:40 on an 8hr Individuals trip with a full boat.
The first stop was for Herring and Mackerel and this did not disappoint. Plenty coming on board.
Next it was time to anchor up where the anglers fished happily for Bull Huss, Rays, Whiting, Dabs and Dogs with a few good sized Lance coming in which were good for bait.
Merlin returned to Rhyl 19:40 with a fulfilled group of anglers after a lovely flat calm and warm day with plenty caught.

A nice day on the water yesterday on our 2nd run out in this year’s Spring competition.
View Boats Page
We started on a wreck 12 miles North of the harbour for a handful and to be honest we only saw another 5 or 10 fish boated until we dropped on our last wreck of the day some 22 miles North. It didn’t produce heaps of fish but certainly helped in the days total.
Great crack with lovely weather again.
This weekend’s tides running at 5.7m means we will be chucking the anchor over as the drift fishing will be far too quick.
No daily prize winner yesterday but one or two nice chunky Codling. Our best of the day was Dave Sharpe’s at 6.0lbs
Cheers lads and see you all again soon.

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
Another lovely day out on the wrecks today with a great group of lads of mixed experience. With lighter winds and a bit less swell than the previous day, conditions were great for a few fish. We headed back out to the clearer water and everyone got stuck in.
View Boats Page
It only took a couple of drifts before everyone was into the swing of it. Most drifts saw anything from 2-5 Codling come up in the 2-4lb range. It was nice fishing with plenty of bites.
Richard Wheatley took the best fish of the morning at 5lb and there were a few over 4lb. Once we started to hit slack water, the bites slowed a little, so we had a move.
With the flood tide pushing against the wind, the drift of the boat was held up, allowing us to drift a smaller wreck, slowly. This paid off well, with four rods into fish on both of the first two drifts. Rob Waterworth managed to find a strap Ling in amongst the Codling and it turned out to be a good end to the day.
Nearly all the fish came to bait traces with muppets and Squid. Thanks for another great day out everyone.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

Fishing Report by Simon Logan
on Deep Blue (Eastbourne, East Sussex)
9 Apr 2022 by Simon Logan
Report on-board Deep Blue
Well, what a day we’ve just had out on Deep Blue. Only the 4 customers onboard today, with mixed approaches and experiences with a rod in hand.
View Boats Page
The bites happened as soon as the silt from dropping the anchor had settled. A nice little plaice followed by a lovely double figured Thornback ray flew onto the deck. The ray took us by surprise because we had literally just put the rods into their holders on the first drop of the day. Not long after another double ray, followed by another.
We had definitely found the ray‘s stomping ground. Across the deck a double shot whiting was being hauled, and a complimentary dog fish, and then more whiting. Then BANG! Another big bend in the rod, and up came another double figured ray. This time tipping the scales at 14lb 8oz. Aggelos, a young Greek lad from West London had the privilege. Everyone was bringing really decent fish over the gunwales. Bites were thick and fast on the ebb, and well into slack water too.
The bites started to ease off at the turn of the tide. We stayed put and fished the first hour of the flood. The big fish had stopped feeding but we were graced with a few new species for the day. A nice Gurnard, a dab and a Smooth-hound pup were the next to feel peckish.
We lifted the anchor and headed to the rock marks. The water had become noticeably choppier with the strengthening wind. We set up for our first drift. Using a single 4/0 running ledger rig, and a Jaffa cake sized piece of squid, Bruce bounced his lead at the beginning of the rocks. FISH ON! “It’s a pollack” were the words muttered by Bruce’s mates. I readied the net, and up it came. A flipping Codling!! Only about 3.5lbs, but there it was, in all it’s glory, a highly coveted East Sussex cod. As we set about starting another drift the boat was moving around a bit on the chop. One of the group had been caught off guard, and put his hand out to steady himself. Sadly for him, he managed to find the razor sharp blade of a bait knife. I cleaned him up and bandaged his hand. He was adamant he wanted to fish on, but with the water still bashing us about, and everyone having such a good day, they all elected to call it a day a bit earlier so Bill could get his hand checked out. The right call!
All in all, a great day was had, with some fantastic and unexpected fishing, with a great group of lads, and I’m sure they’ll be back for another go in the near future.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Deep Blue

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
Today was the inaugural trip of the “Coffin Dodger’s Cod Tours”……Apparently they’re too old for a Saga Holiday!! A great group of lads who fish with me regularly. We decided to have a run off and fish a few wrecks, using the Ebb tide to our advantage.
View Boats Page
First drift saw three nice Codling come up and that pretty much continued throughout the remainder of Ebb. The best drift saw six fish come up and whilst we didn’t find anything big, our best Codling weighed a touch over 6lb, with plenty of nice pan sized fish.
Squid on bait traces with muppets accounted for the majority, although a few fish did come to black and red Jellies.
It was great to see a few fish back on the wrecks, hopefully a sign of some good sport to come. Thanks to everyone for a brilliant day out, really enjoyed the company and banter.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea Urchin IIl

Report on-board Shy-Torque III
We managed a day at sea yesterday after yet another long spell of landlubbing!
View Boats Page
It was our first day in the Spring Competition as Saturday was cancelled for bad weather.
A regular mixed group joined us and as the tides are currently on the smallest neaps, wrecking was the order of the day.
We touched on our first one for just a handful of Codling so moved out a few miles.
All but 3 rods went straight in to fish on the first pass which was great and we picked away at it for the full morning where the lads gathered a good amount of Codling.
Just the 2 “bootlace” Ling boated with plenty of chuck backs too.
Our heaviest fish of the day was a Pollock of 5 1/2 lbs caught by Kyle Reeves from Sheffield which won the sweep and also won him the best of the day in the competition with another £50.00!
A great day with lovely weather and great banter as usual.
A couple of days off again now but hopefully back at em on Wednesday when the weather looks to be setting again.
The competition runs for 2 weeks and we still have a few days left with spaces.
Cheers
Rich

Today saw our 1st Double Shuffle of the year with a regular party on an 8hr Charter followed by a mixture of regulars and 1st timers on a 5hr Individual trip.
We set off from Rhyl at 08:00 for the 8hr trip fishing a rough patch of ground approx 8mile NW of Rhyl were we fished steadily for a few hrs before relocating to a nearby wreck where the fishing improved further. This trip saw Dabs, Whiting, Dogfish, Thornback Rays, Sea Scorpion and Dragonet.
At 16:00 we left Rhyl once more for a 5hr and tried a new spot 6mile NE of Rhyl for the flood trip and the fish were none stop throughout the duration with plenty of Dabs, Whiting, Dogfish, Thornback Rays and the first Bull Huss of the year weighing in at 11lb.
A vast improvement in the fishing as we are moving further into April and it will only get better as we move further into the 2022 season.
We still have plenty of availability over the coming months and a lot more additional dates are now advertised.
Please call Sarah on 07863774909 to get booked on
