A run out to the more distant grounds paid dividends for yesterdays team.
After the previous few days of scratching about for a dozen or so fish, the lads were rewarded for their efforts and boated around 60 Cod between them.
Once again, the better size fish were elusive with the best onboard going just 5lb to Chris Wake.
A few small Haddock thrown into the mix too and also a small Wolf fish which was safely returned.
Another belting Summer like day and good fishing with the usual good banter.

Incredible weather for this time of the year. I hope everyone is benefiting from it.
Before we sailed yesterday we had a bit of a conflab about what tactics we should use and the majority vote was to have a run to some offshore wrecks.
We dropped on 4 wrecks out to 21 miles and the fishing wasn’t very good on any of them. Half a dozen off the first, then just a couple off each of the others.
No big fish poking their heads out as yet but here’s hoping for an improvement today when we have a run out to the “Wall”

Certainly doesn’t feel like March again today!!
Another beautiful day; out with a great bunch of lads. After the recent poor fishing, we decided to stop inside (despite the smaller tides) and have a mixed day. We fished at anchor on the flood tide, then drifted a few wrecks when we lost the tide; finishing off with the anchor down on the Ebb tide.
First stop was fairly good, with plenty of bites from Codling and a fair few Doggies. We only took a Ling and a Codling off the wrecks we visited, then picked off some more Codling and Doggies, plus Lobsters on the Ebb tide in the afternoon.
The fishing was far from brilliant, but everyone got a few fish, which was an improvement on the last two days. This was definitely a day for “anglers”…..not those who come to fill the freezer.

Perfect weather and conditions for yesterday’s lads but the fishing was far from perfect for us!!
We struggled to find the fish throughout the day and ended up with just the 5 keepers before returning home.
The approaching neaps hindering us with the flow slackening dramatically from the previous day. I think the fish are still there but we just need an increase in the flow again.
Still, we had a lovely day in the sun on a flat calm sea.
Good company and good banter.
Andrew taking the best fish of the day at 6lb 2oz.
The Spring competition is fast approaching here at Whitby and starts on Saturday 9th April.
We still have a few places available which are showing on the calendar on here.

The sun is shining with light winds forecast and the fish are turning up. Ray landed this Skate along with 3 others recently so with Skate, early Smoothounds and Bass there's lots to aim at. We have top quality bait available with live shrimp, always a favourite for the Hounds.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a morning like this to go out fishing. Seals, dolphins and porpoise all over the place…..stunning.
Unfortunately the fishing hasn’t matched the cracking weather this week. We’ve had two poor days and one reasonable day uptiding, but the fish sizes were on the small side.
We also had a run out to a few wrecks and drifted some rough ground today, which produced only a handful of small Codling.
Whilst I love to put up pictures of the big Cod and Ling we catch, I think it’s also important to let people know that it isn’t always like that.
At the moment we’ve been struggling, but tomorrow is a new day and it could all change…..fingers crossed. View Boats Page

Few thornbacks now showing off the Norfolk coast bit on the small side always are to start nice to see spring making a start now. Spotty dogs coming in as well still getting some decent whiting which seem to be all year round now. Picture today was off Rafal and son Jacob with first thornback and first trip on High Flyer 2.
One issue we have to address is the hike in fuel costs affects all businesses in every aspect so unfortunately us included will be asking £60 everything supplied a trip from April 1st 2022 those who find this difficult we are going to get round this by using our second vessel Seaquest and do a shorter day which might suit some especially with children and ask £45 everything supplied.
Our tope trips will be £75 per head this year everything supplied due to distance /fuel etc.
Looking forward to being of service this year despite the situation lets hope we get less wind this summer for a change!!! Get your date booked in if your coming to visit us saves any disappointment . Many thanks

Quick report
The fishing & weather has been fantastic
Theres been Plenty of Rays about some good double figure females & decent males coming aboard! It Keeps everyones rods bending very busy at times with tripple hook ups!
Theres been plenty of hounds coming out last few week nothing massive the biggest so far was around 8lb but the bigger ones will move in shortly,
Good steady reports of spurs further offshore but obviously if you want to head further offshore that will cost extra due to the mileage we will cover. They might move inn local yet just like previous seasons just have to wait and see.
The bass wont be long either now we normally start seeing the first decent ones from end of march had a couple of schoolies the other day & herd of others been reported so its looking good & water temp is 9.6 - 10c warming up now!!!

Phil Steele from Stockport had the boat to himself today on what was a gorgeous Spring day at sea.
Local laddy Fergus Powell from Egton joined us for a ride out too.
We set out on the flood tide at 6.30am to a couple of well known inshore Uptiding marks where we managed a half dozen Codling boated in the first half hour. Best fish there was about 4lb.
A couple of moves over the next hour or two gave the lads another half dozen fish with throwbacks too.
We finished the day off on a more Northern mark where we picked yet another half a dozen fish up. The stamp was much better on the last drop with Codling to 6lb 9oz for Fergus.
A very relaxing and enjoyable day with 2 cracking lads, excellent banter and some superb “Prog Rock” on the sound system for Phil !!

Taking advantage of the nice weather, we had a mixed group of lads today, for the Uptiding trip.
With the tides still in the 5m range, we got off to a good start on the last of the flood tide, with plenty of Codling coming up. Nothing exceptional, most were in the 2-3lb bracket. But it was good to see bites all around the boat.
We had a couple of moves during the Ebb but unfortunately there wasn’t he same volume of bites. Frustratingly, the SSE wind lifted after dinner making the boat swing on the anchor.
However, the lads stuck at it and we got a great reward late afternoon on the last move, with a few more for the pan and a nice 5lb 8oz fish to end a great day in great company.
Everyone took away a few fish for the table, but unfortunately we didn’t find any monsters……but there’s always tomorrow. View Boats Page
