    Report on-board DAWN TIDE II

Quick report il try not to bore you to much
Theres Still Plenty of bass about in the right places on local marks, its much better well offshore with everyone onboard hitting there 2 bass bag limit no problem but remember its extra miles and thats extra cost so please bare that in mind.
The rays are building in numbers now as usual on the usual marks we had good numbers inshore the other day they kept the rods bending.
The Hounds have thinned right out now the odd one here and there now but they will be back next season.
A Few codling have reported but nothing major no surprise !! Its been years since a proper cod run here but the bass making up for the lack of cod and i will continue to target bass until its not worth while.
So basically theres still plenty of mixed action at the moment!!!

  • 04/11/2021 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

4 Nov 2021 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

After yet another long spell off the water it was slow going for the lads on yesterday’s trip.
We started on the ground marks on the 9 mile for 4 or 5 fish.
Out to a wreck 17 miles off then for just another half dozen fish. West bound then to another wreck for another 4 or 5 fish that’s all, finishing off on some more ground for a couple to finish off.
Lovely weather however and a real pleasure to sail with great folk after being landlubbed for such a long time.
Ian Hill from Ripon pictured with one of his nice plump Codling.

Uptiding Competition starting this Saturday which runs for a fortnight. After this last couple of days of strong Northerlies on rising tides I am really hoping that we will see some good fishing inshore at anchor in the next couple of weeks. A couple of days left with spaces in the last competition of the year.
    Cheers for now,
    Rich

  • 11/2021 Fishing Report by Scott Belbin on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)

    Nov 2021 by Scott Belbin

    Report on-board Galloper

Sorry for the lack of reports on here lately. I cant believe I havnt done one since July! Things have been a little hectic since then with the arrival of our first child amidst a very busy summer of bookings.
An average late summer trip produced hounds, rays and bass. Mixed in would also be some dogfish, baby tope and the occasional eel. We had a couple more stingrays as they moved out of the estuary too. The fishing was great, we had some nice mixed fishing inshore which kept our anglers happy. Although most of the hounds moved out in early September, we have still been catching one or two inshore until very recently. This is surely a sign of the times.
There were good numbers of thorn-backs around in places throughout the summer. These are a great standby and popular for the table too. The average stamp can be a little small throughout late summer and early autumn. However the fish we are catching now tend to be a better size.
The bass fishing has been great again this year. We started our offshore trips for them as the tope were leaving and we are still heading offshore for bass now. The size and numbers of fish have been great so far and we hope to continue targeting them offshore until the end of the month. Our general trips have produced a few here and there throughout the summer. Just like the hounds these fish have hung around inshore later than we would traditionally expect. We have still seen one of two of these mixed in with our general trips recently. Catching a sizable bass puts a smile on any anglers face after all.
Most of our general trips now see us catching vast amounts of dogfish and whiting. These little bait robbers keep us busy In between the thorn-back rays. We have already seen some nice dabs showing in the estuary too. These provide a welcome break from the whiting and dogfish on a windy day in the blackwater. The bigger ones taste great too and numbers should improve over the next few weeks. On the right tides these will give us something else to target over the winter. As I say each year, the blackwater is our biggest asset particularly at this time of year. We can enjoy sheltered fishing in most wind directions and save you cancelling a days fishing. we are often worth a call if you have been cancelled else where and still wish to go fishing for the day.
I daren’t mention the ‘C’ word! Obviously, I don’t expect to see any numbers of cod here over the coming months. I will happily eat my words if they turn up in vast amounts but its doubtful. There were one or two showing last winter when we were allowed out. Hopefully this year we will be able to continue with trips throughout the winter which will give us the chance to catch one or two more.
I have a few spaces and available days over the next couple of months if you wish to get out. Not all bookings are advertised but you can always ask via my mobile. I will try and update next years calendar soon but it is starting to look quite busy. If you want to book a specific day or type of trip then please get in touch sooner rather than later.

  • 02/11/2021 Fishing Report by Andy Savage on Sea Urchin IIl (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

2 Nov 2021 by Andy Savage

    Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl

It’s certainly been a while since we’ve been able to do a catch report. The weather has kept us in the harbour for most of the last six weeks, resulting in lots of cancelled trips. We did manage to get a run out yesterday which was great after the long lay off. We had a good bunch of lads on, who were great company.

With no mackerel left to find, we started the day off on a wreck at 9 miles. Fishing with either bait traces consisting of a muppet and pennel arrangement, or Hokkai’s baited with squid saw a couple of fish each drift. Mainly small Codling around the 2lb mark. Ken Wood pinched a better one around 5lb, as did Steve Cooper.

Alan Knaggs had a go with a red and black jellyworm and pinched a Pollock well up off the bottom. Ian Kellock took the biggest fish of the day (#standard), a Ling of around 6lb.
Once the flood tide got away we moved onto rough ground for the remainder of the day and found odd pockets of fish. It was far from easy fishing and good angling was definitely rewarded.

Everyone got something to take home for tea, which is always the aim on the trickier days. Hopefully we’ll get a few more breaks in the weather to get back out there again.

  • 25/10/2021 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

25 Oct 2021 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

Had a run out yesterday with Andy and Mike and their lads.
The forecast wasn’t good enough for us to get out distance so the lads were happy to try a day inshore at anchor.
We ran South from the harbour and picked around 15 Codling, 1 Dogfish, a few Pouting and 4 Lobster (all returned) Nothing startling but a great day out for the lads, 4 of whom had never been to sea before. Best Codling went about 4lb.
Great to get an odd day out in between all this horrible weather.
Uptiding Competition starting on the 6th November and runs for a fortnight (a few places left)
    Cheers

  • 10/2021 Fishing Report by Steve West on Aries 3 (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Oct 2021 by Steve West

    Report on-board Aries 3

    This year has flown by.........
My first year back has exceeded my expectations which began with scrambling to get the boat together to enjoying a great holiday period with lots of holiday makers enjoying the short 4 hr. trips which produced some great fishing consistently well
The Full day trips inshore have been excellent with brilliant mixed fishing at anchor and on the drift some of the species included Turbot / brill / blonde rays / thornback rays / congers / tope / huss / bream / bass as well as all the mini species.
We were lucky enough to be included in this year's WIBAC competition which takes place over 5 days unfortunately I was unable to attend myself and drafted in retired charter skipper rich English ( loan shark ) who showed he still has the touch and finished the week top boat which was great to see the Aries name up there all in all the weather was great which allowed the boats to get out on the good marks and enjoy everything Weymouth has to offer with great fishing had each day. The whole week ran without a hitch all due to the huge amount of hard work Andy and his team at Weymouth angling Centre put in.
We now move into the autumn / winter fishing with bass on the bill and will soon see the winter whiting and hopefully some squid.
Keep your eyes out for more reports coming soon.
