The last couple of days have not been as prolific in terms of numbers of fish; although we’ve still had a reasonable picking. But the quality has certainly been there.
Dale Diamond on his first ever trip, caught his first ever Cod at 9lb 8oz....how’s yer’luck!! Raz then landed a quality Ling of 13lb, beating his mates last trip Ling of 12lb. He didn’t give him much stick....honest!!
Both the fish fell for big baits (Squid) on single hook traces, with 10/0 hooks and 100lb mono stand off blood loops. Well done boys, great work.

A slow day for the lads yesterday with the South Easterly freshening throughout the day.
A couple of dozen fish for the boat that’s all.
Mixture of cod and ling.
Squid baited rigs doing the best. A few mackerel starting to show here and there too which is good news!

Wreck hopping seems to be the order of the day at present on these neaps.
We touched on around half a dozen of them throughout yesterday and the lads picked a few fish off them all. No “biggies” but a nice few fish each for the lads.

A great days fishing which started slowly for the first few hours. Few cod were taken early on but they were a good stamp, around 5-6lb mark. The poor drift was probably to blame but the weather was warm and the sea flat . About lunch time the drift picked up and so did the fishing. They were plenty of cod, just size and above, but amongst them were better fish too. We picked away, mainly on the ground, and bagged a good few fish each, the majority on baited hokkais and daylites. Robson, a Mistress regular, had a nice brace of cod to about 6lb. Hopefully the mackerel will be here shortly and the bigger fish will follow. They have been reports of a few being caught locally.
