Today Merlin departed Rhyl @ 11:00 bound for an inshore 5hr session off Prestatyn with a party of 4. The weather was flat calm with a light NW breeze and clear sunny skies.
We dropped anchor on location and fished the bottom with flappers and flowing traces baited with a mixture of Lug, Squid and Mackerel.
Soon after the 1st lines hit the bottom we were into the fish pulling in the first Smooth-Hound.
The fishing was constant from start to finish and a good mixture of species landed.
By the end of the session we were well into double figures of Large Dabs, Smooth-Hounds, Dogs, Whiting and Bull Huss. The Huss were ranging from 6lb to the very impressive 18.4lb wopper! A PB for our seasoned angler who caught him.
Just before we departed, a lovely brace of Flounder were reeled in which capped off a wonderful afternoon of inshore fishing.
Sadly the time had come to lift the anchor and head back to Sunny Rhyl and we arrived back in the Harbour @ 14:00 with a very happy bunch. All of which have booked again for next week in the hope of another cracking day of angling.

Report on-board Mistress
A quick report guys, we've had some mixed days this week before the sea came away again.
View Boats Page
We had a crack at the wrecks early on in the week as the tides were still small and even though we were marking fish I could see the clarity wasnt there, as is usual around this time of year. It looked a bit green and other skippers trying other marks also confirmed the dreaded may water was setting in.
We took a few fish off the wrecks but it was hard work but we got some double shots of cod on the hokkais.
Luckily the tides we're lifting over the following days we had trips and I knew things would get better, and they did! The next couple of days we got the anchor down resulting with much better fishing for the lads.
I expect we'll be staying at anchor for a few more weeks until the algae clears and hopefully we'll get a good crack at the wrecks as the water clears out for the summer.
If you fancy a trip with me give me a call or text on 07977 436903. My online calendar is upto date as I write this. We've still a few dates available left through the year.
Tight lines Rich

Today Merlin set out for her 1st trip of the season with the maximum 6Anglers permitted. The weather was forecast to be fresh but turned out to be a lovely calm but overcast day
We departed Rhyl @ 9am for a 5hr trip and head towards the North Hoyle Wind Farm.
Once we arrived on location, we drifted for a short period in the hope of some Mackerel but to no avail (still slightly early in the season yet)
Once we dropped the hook, we were into the fish, fishing steadily for a good couple of hours. Plenty of Whiting, Dabs and an abundance of Dogs. One angler was well into double figures.
We then decided to head back to Rhyl and set anchor just off the End Perch. This proved to be a good call as the fishing improved and a lovely Smoothound was landed as well as a good sized Whiting.
Once the time was up, we made our approach and arrived safely back in Rhyl at 2pm with a happy bunch on board.

Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl
It's been a tricky couple of weeks in the Spring festival at Whitby, with not much in the way of big fish making an appearance. That said, we've had some fairly consistent action on Sea Urchin with our customers taking three daily prizes and plenty for the table.
View Boats Page
It is now back to business as usual, so if you fancy a run out at Whitby, rest assured, Sea urchin will provide it.
Hope to see you on-board soon.

Report on-board Shy-Torque III
Whitby’s first competition of the year finished yesterday.
View Boats Page
A tough event this year with strong Northerly winds muckying the water up at the start. Still, we persevered on the days we went and managed a reasonable picking some of the days.
Chris Siddle from Hull dropped on the winning fish on the Shy-Torque III with a ling of 9lb 3oz.
Not a big fish by any stretch but big enough to win him a very nice £500.00! Well done to him.
Chris is pictured with his winning fish.
Our next competition starts on June 26th and runs for 3 weeks inclusive. If you fancy a run out, drop me a line.
Cheers for now.
