I decided to do a half day trip to the Shambles to fish for Turbot this afternoon. Weather conditions were ideal. Landed 3 Turbot with 2 of them safely returned. The picture is not great as I was on the boat alone and doing Selfies.

Some steady and sometimes slow fishing over the last few days.
3 daily prize winners so far for the lads on the Shy-Torque in this year’s Spring Competition.
Yesterday’s winner was young Ted Davies from Hartlepool with a codling of 5lb 3oz which is the current leader overall.
£50.00 going his way. Well done mate.

What a strange day. We cast-off in the midst of a snow shower under heavy skies and ended the day in the gentlest of breezes with the Sun on our back ..... and experienced everything in between! Wind was stronger than forecast offshore and with a big tide that just amplified the sea state, so for a while it was difficult fishing and rewards were just not worth the challenging conditions. A change of plan, course alteration and we were in business! Always great to see anglers battling doubles and we had 3 or 4 of those today, also dropped a couple but we will pick them up on Thursday��
Paul and Andrew picked up last minute places aboard today’s trip and both landed double figure fish, think Paul had a couple.
Crew, well what can I say, all lovely chaps and a huge thank you for your company today, always lovely to catch-up with those that fish regularly with us and I’m sure we will be seeing more of Paul & David in future.
Highlight of the day....... The fantastic doubles and of course Bob’s Bakewell tarts!!
We have 1 space available this Thursday for wrecking so if would like a go at these hard fighting Pollock on the offshore wrecks just get in touch.

Like many charter boats throughout England we have enjoyed a busy (if belated) start to the season since the easing of lockdown. Fortunately we were welcomed back to sea with glorious weather, favourable tides and a few fish too. Our first trip produced plenty of thorn-back rays (roker), dogfish whiting and even a small codling for Frank. Both the weather and the fishing have been a bit hit and miss since then. However we are lucky enough to have some great sheltered marks that produce good fish at this time of year. Barry Wood caught 21 rays including this nicely marked fish to make up one of his best days on rays. Most of the other five regulars on board that day had similar numbers of rays which kept me busy in between the banter. There have been a few hounds showing too in places, our best day last week saw 13 hounds and 42 rays along with heaps of dogfish and whiting in between. These northerlies have knocked the water temperature down at the moment so they have pushed a little further off for the time being but will be back soon enough. In the mean time there are plenty of rays to keep us busy and the same northerlies that have pushed the hounds further off should help to keep the rays inshore for a while yet. They are showing all over the place so we can find sheltered fishing in most conditions at the moment if you are keen to get afloat.
Over the coming weeks I would expect to see plenty more rays while the hounds and bass increase in numbers. I am pretty well booked for weekends but will list what dates I have spaces. If you wish to book the boat mid-week then please contact me for availability as I may be able to help you out.
COVID-19 UPDATE
We have now had confirmation that the large deck area on Galloper we have some good news. we are able to accommodate up to 6 anglers plus the skipper as of 29/03/21. I will honour existing bookings as they are unless you wish to change them. If you are booked as an individual and would rather book on a trip with 6 @ £70pp then please get in touch.
I understand this could be due to change after 17th of May but I am not willing to take bookings for larger groups until the rules have actually been relaxed on this.
That means that until further notice I will taking bookings on the basis of groups of up to 6 people.

Last couple of days we’ve spent uptiding.
Plenty of codling flying around still after the 3 days of big Northerlies.
Water like soup so it’s looking like this will be the plan for the next few trips.
40-50 codling each day, all on the baited rigs.
Squid doing the best on the pennell rigs. Lugworm also worked.
All fish kept were on the measure and above but nothing above 3lb. Plenty of throw backs too.

Another stunning day out on the water today with a wonderful crew. Conditions were as predicted and the very early start certainly paid dividends with a steady stream of good quality fish coming to the net. A little quiet over slack but as ebb kicked in we were off again.
Thanks to the crew for the great company and the artisan food which was absolutely delicious.
