    Report on-board Flamer IV

A nice trip fishing at anchor on two Bank marks to the east of Weymouth. Just as we had started fishing on the first mark lots of common dolphins came to join us, a lovely sight.
Over the next few hours the anglers caught several Spurdogs in the 12Ib to 15Ib 8oz range along with Tope, Bull Huss, Blonde Rays, Spotted Rays, Small Eyed Rays, Congers, Whiting and the usual Dogfish.
Squid and Mackerel cocktail baits being the most successful.
Pictured is Paul Milkins with a 15Ib 8oz Spurdog.

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

Sailed yesterday with the maximum 5 anglers we are allowed on board at the moment.

We picked away steadily for the first couple of hours on a wreck 8 miles from port. Most of the fish coming up on the artificials again. 30 or so fish boated with a good number around the 4-5lb mark. The fishing slowed up then and we only scratched another 10 fish after that.

Rich Hirst taking a nice pollack just over 5lb too.

Check the availability calendar for places on the run up to Xmas. A few days with places left.

    Cheers

    Report on-board Alexia

Wed and Thur this week finally seen us get back to fishing after the 4 week lockdown, with regular Mohammed chartering the whole boat for himself and two nephews, the lads fished black lug and squid baits and the cod were jumping aboard throughout the ebb tide, boating around 60 codlings to 5lb.
Thursday we had another group of 3 charter the boat and from the baits touching bottom the fishing was non stop, with the lads boating a good stamp of 4lb codlings.
We have plenty of midweek spaces available this coming week so for a bash at the cod,

  • 02/12/2020 Fishing Report by Iain Barron on Brighton Lure Boat (Brighton, East Sussex)

2 Dec 2020 by Iain Barron

    Report on-board Brighton Lure Boat

Brighton Lure Boat Tumultuous Tuesday, First on board was Mark, a first time out with us, and a recognised angler by his yellow hat and fishing reports from the Worthing Pier and fishing the walls on Brighton Marina. I know by Marks reports he was going to do well, which indeed he did.

Brighton Lure Boat Tumultuous Tuesday moved swiftly out of the marina to be greeted by fantastic sunrise awaiting us, and with the calm seas the birds working well, I was anticipating a good day ahead. I set the boat up for the first drift across the reef what wind there was held us over the mark for longer than I expected, we got into the rhythm and skipper for a change was quickly into his first fish, within seconds mark was into his 1st, The size of the fish was all around 45cms and above, we were an hour into the session and I’m netting one for Mark, and my reel screeched offline, around 4 minutes we were greeted with the biggest fish of the day or was it. . . . . 73cms, weighed on the boat at 9lb 5oz, Magnificent specimen, having rested for a minute or two safely returned and swam away strong.

We continued to drift the area and the fish were coming thick and fast, with the catch rate could we emulate Sunday and Thursday’s number’s, we decided to move on out to another area see if we could up the species number, which soon turned into Mackerel session but not for long as they were chasing this tiny wall of sprat, Mark hooked a Mackie with a mouthful of them!! Mark was on his 33rd fish when I said let’s go to a place that I know from the past winters produce codling!!

We arrived and the biggest note was the breeze was getting up, The unpredictable sea we set up of the rocky area and we had spent about 20 minutes when I decided to move again over another patch of ground that has produced, I was first in, not a codling, but around 1lb tub gurnard, still good size for where we were fishing. We moved on again, to the last chance saloon area as the breeze was beginning to increase, we spent about an hour around the area trying different methods of lure fishing to entice the unicorns, but to no avail, instead, we both had bass caught almost at the same time, both around the 3lb mark.

We returned to where we started the earlier session, our first drops produced fish straight away, Mark was edging towards 40 for the day, and he hit into his best fish of the day 55cm Bass which was his 40th and last one of the day. The wind and tide were making the drifts awkward that we had to reposition a few times the ebbing tide and wind causing a strange vortex rather than go sideways with the tide we went straight south! The last 15 minutes we tried to stay over the reef, but being pushed and buffeted like we were was not good for the ageing muscles and bones.

Brighton Lure Boat second best day of the year, Mark ended up with 40 yours truly 27. We hope Mark enjoyed his day on the Brighton Lure Boat and it was good fun from my part for having angler onboard who absolutely loves lure fishing, throw the banter in over the day makes it more enjoyable for all, For me, being out fished by the client is what the game is all about, catching 60 odd Bass, dozen mackerel you can say was a good day all round, the reason I love doing this is the enjoyment on peoples faces when they catch no matter how big or small the fish.

  • 29/11/2020 Fishing Report by Iain Barron on Brighton Lure Boat (Brighton, East Sussex)

29 Nov 2020 by Iain Barron

    Report on-board Brighton Lure Boat

Brighton Lure Boat Super Sunday! 29 November 2020

Brighton Lure Boat Super Sunday! First up was Steve, a first time out with us, and seasoned angler, as he has had the delights of being out with other skippers over the years from Brighton. I knew we had a guy on board who knew his stuff with flying collars and booms, but he had never fished with light lines and lures, Testament to Stephen for understanding how we fish on the Brighton lure Boat, and was quickly into his first fish of many. . . . .

The forecast was for East North East winds up to 16knts at times with the wind dropping, we set out of the marina and were greeted a fantastic wintery sunrise, I was hoping after Thursday’s Bass fest could the same happen again? The first thing we noticed and looking for was where the birds were feeding and diving, always a good indicator if fish are around, they were in abundance on the east side we went in underneath the foray at least 50 plus gulls apparently if you get pooped on its meant to be lucky!!!

Steve with Brighton Lure Boat 50th of the morning.

Steve was first on with a great fish around the 5lb mark, the wind and tide were holding us over the reef well in the first hour, that soon changed once the tide turned. This didn’t stop the feeding hungry silvers within the first-hour score count was 16, with some great looking fish and one for the table.

We followed the birds for about 30 minutes east of the marina and the odd fish coming in well to the net. We visited the same area as Thursdays good day, and we weren’t disappointed, the first drift across the reef produced 12 all around the 2-3lb mark, were on own for the first hour, and then joined by two other boats, who also captured a few fish and joined in the fun.
The wind and tide were making the drifts awkward that we had to reposition a few times. When the drift was on the right spot, the fish duly obliged, 5-6 fish per drift was keeping us busy. Then Steve has the one odd fish which very was the huge Pout, The same place we had the Tub Gurnard on our previous visit; we also had Mackerel which were beginning to show on the sounder and the hooks at an alarming rate. We upped throttle and time to move on; we went out to the small wreck, the tide was coming thru around 1.5knt, which made life very hard to control the lure. We then moved back east to the marina where we found our 50th fish of the day, stunning bass 68cm.

Brighton Lure Boat Super Sunday on the Bass

We finished the 4-hour session on 57 in total and certainly makes you have the wow factor and feeling good that you have achieved the goal of the client who went back the A23 with two lovely fish to share with his very grateful sister, and the fact that he was very willing to learn completely different technique’s in a short space of time he had never used before sea fishing got his rewards, we look forward to welcoming Steve back and his daughter for a session early next year.

The Brighton Lure boat is back out tomorrow for another session on the Brighton high seas, to get on board contact 07739732332 or via the booking form on the website.
