Report on-board Flamer IV
Peter Gillett, Lee Page, Glenn Barrett, Paul Musslewhite, Mark Bailey, Kelvin Bailey and the infamous Dodgey David Barton joined Flamer IV for their annual Angling Break. Their original 2020 Angling Break was cancelled in June because of lockdown.
This time they managed to fish three out of the four days with the last day being cancelled due to a gale forecast.
During their trip they caught a variety of fish which included Rays, Tope, Pollack, Black Bream, Congers, Turbot, Bass, Gurnards etc with Glenn Barrett also catching a Red Mullett.
They did a competition over the first two days which Glenn Barrett won and Peter Gillett was Runner Up.
The banter and friendliness on the boat was as good as ever.
In the evenings the group did socialize but said it was not quite the same with all the necessary covid - 19 restrictions in place.
All the guys stayed at The Marden Guest House which as usual was great and provide a superb service.
The group have already booked their annual Angling Break for 2021.

A nice day at sea yesterday working the grounds on the 9 mile.
Best rod for the day was Simon England with a dozen fish. Best fish on the boat was Jamie Thomson's ling of 10 lb.
Fresh mackerel (which we are still catching loads) was doing the damage.

A cracking days fishing for the lads from Liverpool yesterday the uptiding has come on with a bang .
The weather was great light winds calm sea and some great sport for the boys the biggest cod around 7lb and plenty of them as well the winter looks like being very good indeed .

Hi guys, time for a quick update before I head off for a few days fishing away with the boys.
Over this set of springs tides we've made a start on the Uptiding for Cod. Its still a bit early, but theres some promising signs. The last two days between a few windy ones we've managed a few nice fish for the lads.
We're taking bookings for the Uptide Festival which starts the 7th November. Spaces are starting fill up now.

A nice day at sea yesterday for the lads and our female angler Michelle.
Fishing started a little slow but as the ebb eased away they started picking the fish up steadily on the rough ground.
Total tally for the day was around 40 fish with 7 haddock too which was great. Best cod of 6lb 2oz fell to Pete Bural. Baited rigs doing the best.

After a very busy summer catching some specimen fish including bass upwards of 10lb+, hounds to 20lb, rays to 25lb and some very surprising faces like the sunfish we landed, we are now getting into our September/October fishing season. These next 2 months will possibly produce some large bass and early codling, like we have already been catching recently, along with late season hounds,rays, large whiting, Pouting and flat fish. The 2020 "Old Gits Competition" age 60 and over took place on a lovely September day with an average of 67 on board. One session on the drift produced Black Bream, Plaice, Gurnards, Scad, Pouts etc, the afternoon was spent at anchor on a reef which saw mainly Congers, Black Bream and Dogfish caught.
Russell Latimer won with 220 points (Russell also won the 2019 Old Gits Competition), Runner up was Kevin Clark with 214 points, Third place was Ian Youngs with 198 points.

Up to date reports been good on the tope this last few weeks biggest 55lb some cracking fish. weather turned easterly this week losing this weekend due to weather hopefully back out after the last few weeks of toping got few places Fri 25th Sep contact us if interested. Decent whiting on the inside with odd thornback thrown in and few spotty dogs. Website up to date looking forward to a cold winter hopefully bring on the cod. Till next time tight lines everyone.
