A good days fishing overall. The weather was settled, not much breeze at all. The mackerel were a bit patchy, but we persisted a picked up a few. The Cod didn't start to feed until later in the morning , with quite a lot just size ones returned for another day. We picked up a few octupai too. Ian and Brian had a decent days fishing and had fair few cod between them.

Fishing Report by John Peck

Report on-board Lady Margaret
The fishing continues to be good. Again, we have been concentrating mainly on the inshore drifting and have been catching plaice in good numbers. There was a bit of a blip mid month where bigger fish became more scarce but the end of the month produced some fine fishing. No really big plaice were caught during the month but we had a good number of fish between 2lb and 3lb.

One of the nice things about late summer inshore fishing is the number of different species featuring in the catches. Tub Gurnards and black bream feature in nearly every trip but we have had some unusual species including Conger eels, gilthead bream and some big red mullet.
We haven't done much bass fishing and when we have the results have been a bit mixed. Lots of small fish around but the bigger ones continue to elude us although we have had a good number of medium weight fish to 6lb.
The mackerel are very scarce and even the inshore plaice fishing trips have not produced many latety. Fishing with feathers is most likely to produce scad at the moment.
We have only fished one very short session at anchor which produced wrasse and pouting. -

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
As the tides build in strength we have targeted Bass and have they given the team plenty of sport, yesterday the conditions were perfect, no wind beautiful blue skies and fish, these were nearly all well over size limits. During several drifts all the anglers plus myself all hooked up making for some great video and all bar 3 fish being returned. Today promised to be good with perfect conditions but this soon gave way to a fresh breeze causing the boat to go across the tide, the catch rate was well below yesterday but for Chris Bowden to set a new PB Bass of 12lb 10ozs

Today was meant to be a 10hr Charter of 6 @ 11:30 but due to the unfavourable forecast we mutually agreed to make it just a 5hr @ 09:00.
We set off towards North Hoyle and briefly stopped at Chester Flats for some Mackerel bait but the wind started to gust 2hrs earlier than forecasted so, with just a handful of Mackerel and a realease of a couple of Lesser Weaver we set course for Prestayn Barkby Beach for a Smoothound session in the shelter of the Southerly wind.
On arrival, the fish were coming in nicely producing double figures of Smoothound, Dogs, Dabs, Whiting, Huss, a lovely 39cm Sea Bass (unfortunately 3cm too small to keep☹) and a (Strap) Conger Eel.
@ 13:25 we set off back to Rhyl with yet another bunch of happy (but wet) Anglers.
