Brighton Lure Boat The Start Of a Busy Week 13 July 2020

The Start of a busy week what was about to a busy week we started off with Arron Just having got into lure fishing this was going to be a real treat, well that was the idea, left the marina around 6.15 headed south to a small wreck. No joy, this was about to change, we moved 3 miles west, and I was hopeful of full-on action, didn’t disappoint.

First into the fish Arron with very long skinny silver, next up my turn, at this point, I changed to a metal 4th pull up, really good fish and size.

With one eye on the forecast, we kept going, had a couple of drop-offs, but a mad 15 minutes saw another 3 silvers, wrasse and tub gurnard to the boat

Amongst this a couple of pouts, one of must had just eat stamped on its belly, single bass followed the metal with the pout as the decoy, we managed small video of the exploits, good to see how the bass actually attack. . . .

The forecast wind arrived around midday, by then we were on way in, a brilliant morning spent with a guy who has a real taste for the lure action.

  • 26/07/2020 Fishing Report by Jon Whitton on Alexia (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

26 Jul 2020 by Jon Whitton

    Report on-board Alexia

Not had chance to do an update for a while so I’ll start with the the trips over the last set of neap tides and what a cracking week of fishing it was with a few regulars fishing that week, Steve kitson, Peter lee catchpole, David Jenkins and Glynn, just a few of the names getting non stop action over the wrecks with some lovely fish into double figures coming over the rails, with several rods bent every drift. We have had ling to 11lb and cod to just shy of double figures and pollock to just over 7lb. Shad, hokais, daylights and baited muppets all fishing well. As the tides increased the fishing tailed off slightly but we still picked away at some nice fish with tony bets landing a nice brace of codlings just shy of 8lb. We have also been running a few taster trips with the school summer holidays in full flow and so far the kids have not been disappointed with some lovely pollock and cod and a few mackerel coming aboard.
We’re still taking bookings for our 2hr evening trips and 3hr taster trips as well as our full day trips. We’re also now taking bookings for our winter uptide/downtide fishing, with spaces on all our trips filling up fast please book early to avoid ld disappointment.

26 Jul 2020 by Nick Gough

    Report on-board Skylark

Not ideal conditions today with a fresh north westerly blowing nearly all of the trip

But the lads still managed to pull a good amount of fish aboard

Some good size cod and pollock as well as plenty of just size cod which were returened if they had a good chance of survival.

The mackerel seam to be finally well established but are patchy in places but we have finally seen several string fulls come aboard.

  • 22/07/2020 Fishing Report by Steve Green on Brigand (Brighton, East Sussex)

22 Jul 2020 by Steve Green

    Report on-board Brigand

An interesting week before wind stopped play - the banks have started to come alive and plenty of variety out there, best day we boated 14 Turbot, also lost the biggest Tub Gurnard we have ever seen at the net (est. at around 7lb) and the first ever Monkfish we have landed. Only a tiddler and safety returned but great to see such a unique fish. Our jumbo Mackerel have been present in numbers, 45cm has not been unusual on last weeks trips and at that size a tremendous fish for the table.
We have had to cancel our plans to fish our way over to France this weekEnd but still have 3 more scheduled for 2020 so fingers crossed Weather will be kinder to us on those.
