Fishing Report by Daniel Taylor
on Better Days (Ramsgate, Kent)
Feb 2020 by Daniel Taylor
Report on-board Better Days
With Thornback Rays being widely caught inshore & Offshore, we will shortly be focusing our attention on targeting the first of our Smooth-hounds and Bass. During March-May, it is very common to catch smooth hounds well over 10lb+ due to all the big, pupped up females moving through, along side large bass running through along side them. From March onwards we will be using a variety of different baits to insure chance of getting these large fish from live prawn, fresh peeler crabs and squid to really give us the edge on catching these fish early. Along side them, you’ll find large quantities of Skate, Flat-Fish, Large Whiting and other species. To book please call 07949960222 to arrange any trips or and questions you may have about the fishing we offer out of ramsgate. Tight lines all

Bringing us up to date Feb 12th 2020 been battered by all these storms managed to get out today having lost previous weekend. Caught few bass lately all returned of course due to legislation best 5.5lb picture here with Paul Layton regular on High flyer 2 , odd codling showing up not in numbers were still waiting ! Amazingly the thornbacks are a steady trickle they havent left really all winter like they normally do good for us. Still got whiting stripping the baits at times grateful for them so wont complain. Caught first couple spotty dogs inshore which are early for us not normally till end march just shows how things are changing. website up to date daily get your wrecking or tope dates down will advise as to tides . Look forward to seeing you on High Flyer 2 soon until then tight lines everyone. Cheers Jon

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)
Jan 2020 by Scott Belbin
Report on-board Galloper
The year has got off to a great start for us here on the blackwater estuary. There may have been lots of sprats around but the thorn-back rays have still been feeding well. The mild weather has undoubtably helped this and they have shown in both size and numbers. The best of the fishing has been well within the shelter of the estuary so we have been able to fish in all but the worst weather. Our best trip in January was 42 rays to 14.8lbs. we saw double figure fish mixed in most trips and plenty of happy anglers. As long as we don’t see any prolonged cold spells the rays should be here for the spring now. Although at times it was mostly rays we caught we did see a few other bits and bobs with the usual whiting dogfish and dabs showing. When conditions allowed we headed further afield and even had a couple of tiny codling, hopefully we will see some of their larger relatives as the sprats move off in the coming weeks. I have several spaces coming up at weekends as well as midweek availability and evening as we get into the summer. For more information, regular reports and availability please visit
