May 18th 2019 weather was great for once few thornbacks pictured here with Ian Blyth catching the most today! Only one reasonable size smoothound rest of them small pups biggies should be about soon i would imagine. Decent whiting for this time of year and a spotty dog every 5 mins at times a pain but all sport. No bass today but thats fishing. Cheers to everyone was a great day enjoyed it.Big thanks to Geoff riley (Ipswich) for organising all the lads much appreciated. Doing a evening trip this Wednesday 22nd 6pm till midnight limited space usual number if interested. Cheers Jon (High Flyer 2) 07920043979

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

The last few days have provided some excellent fishing with plenty of Bass up to 6lb many being sizeable but small and nearly all being returned, not even taking 1 fish per person, as the tide eases we have caught some nice Plaice Gurnards and a bonus Turbot. At anchor over slack water we have been plagued with tiny Conger Eels and a few Undulate Rays.

    May 2019 by Sam Cumming

    Report on-board Silver Spray II

We have just come back from our first visit to Alderney of the year and I’m pleased to see the weather is nicer on this side of the channel. We battled it out in easterly winds for four days with one day of light winds in the middle proving to be the most productive. Despite conditions it was our best flat fish trip for a few years in terms of numbers. Turbot to 9lb 8oz and brill to 4lb were the top fish; due to the weather we couldn’t really try many other types of fishing. In the Channel the wreck fishing is going well now the may bloom seems to be clearing. Still plenty of good pollock around and the first of this year’s cod, last trip produced 6 which is encouraging for our top month of June. Inshore fishing is going along very nicely with a mix of bass and black bream. The bass have been falling to lures of many varieties as well as slow jigs. Today I am out with Jon and Ben Cannings fishing for bass with LRF gear and it hasn’t disappointed with over 30 fish coming to the boat on 2-8 gram gear. With the right conditions this really is the best way to fish for the inshore bass. Biggest fish so far goes to Dave Mynor with a fine summer fish of 9lb 5oz caught on a skerries eel with a long trace. The bream have been plentiful some days and difficult to hook others as the visibility hasn’t been great in the bay. This should clear up as the month pushes on. Best bream so far is 3lb 8oz caught on a whole squid head by Barry. Looking forward to our first crack at Guernsey next week to target some new grounds, still a few spaces on our trip on 10th June if your interested.

21 May 2019 by Nick Gough

    Report on-board Skylark

Best fish from todays short inshore trip a 6 1/2lb pollock.

Also caught today was severel codling around the 2 to 4lb area. Many good size coalfish and a short spine sea scorpion.

Sea contidions were tough today with wind against tide all day but the fish didnt seam to mind to much.

Also saw for the first time this year were birds diving which is a good sign of the start of summer fishing to come.

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    18.05.19.

A mixed group on the 18th on the boat. Some reasonable fishing on the rough ground with cod to a shade over 6 lbs. The pink shads were doing the business for one of the lads who ended up with 8 lovely plump cod.

The tides are great for the wrecking again from Thursday this week. Check the availability calendar for spaces.

    Cheers for now

  • 20/05/2019 Fishing Report by Nick Gough on Skylark (Scarborough, North Yorkshire)

20 May 2019 by Nick Gough

    Report on-board Skylark

Report from our 6 hour trip

We started out on uptiding ground which was very productive with a good selection of codling (2 to 4lb), dogfish and pouting.

All customers caught on the grounds as slack water approched we lifted anchor and ran off to the inshore wrecks unfortunalty the wrecks were not playing ball today tide was perfect but not a great amount was caught we did manage to get a few better cod but general fishing was slow. The wrecks had cleared out but now aglee blume seams to have crept in.

Hopefully with some more shelter weather or a chance to run further offside we can find some clear water, and hopefully a good amount of decent size fish.

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    17.05.2019.

A nice day on the cod for Haydn, Craig and Graham the other day.

Most of the fish caught on the shad for a change as just recently most of our fish have been falling to the baited rigs.

Good tides are back from Wednesday next week.

    Cheers and tight lines
