    Report on-board Galloper

Im sorry for the lack of reports on here lately but to be honest there wasn’t much to shout about around here at the start of the year. After the Christmas period we saw the return of the cold weather and vast amounts of sprats and herring inshore. These combined ruined the inshore fishing for a few weeks. I ventured out a few times with the odd hardy and keen anglers just to see what was about but things were grim in places. We turned our attention to the flatties on a couple of trips and scratched out a few dabs and flounders along with the occasional pin whiting. Thankfully the lads were often happy just to be afloat and still had an enjoyable day. I am pleased to say that with the mild weather over the last couple of weeks and a lot of the sprats having moved out the fishing has greatly improved inshore. The thorn-backs are back on the move and there are some good fish amongst them. We often have some our biggest rays in this early part of the season and so far the biggest has been caught by one of our regulars Martin Ryan, it went 13-14lbs and was returned swiftly (as we do with all of our females). We havnt seen any codling as yet but you will be pleased to know the warmer weather will get the dogfish feeding again. As the bait fish move off we are often left with one or two decent whiting that have fattened up on the sprats. Offshore is much of the same along with a few spurdogs on the right tides.
I have plenty of spaces over the next few weeks including some this weeked with nice tides and a decent forecast. If you wish to join us or for more information please call 07956411528,

  • 02/2019 Fishing Report by Sam Cumming on Silver Spray II (Poole, Dorset)

    Feb 2019 by Sam Cumming

    Report on-board Silver Spray II

Although it’s usually our quietest period of the year we still manage a few trips out in late January/ early February. The offshore banks are starting to hot up with plenty of spur dogs, nothing monstrous yet, fish up to about 20lb so far, but I’m sure we will get a few bigger ones on the neap tides in March. We have also had a very good start to the year with rays of all different varieties, always welcome to get a good bend in the rod. As February pushes on we will mostly see blonde rays and a few undulates until the water warms up. We have snuck in our first wreck trip early this year and were rewarded with some fat spring Pollack up to 13lb. As seems to be quite common at this time of year we had a nice visit from a large pod of dolphins half way through the day which really is an amazing sight. The video of this encounter is on our Facebook page. Over the next month we will be mostly wreck fishing with a few days on the banks for spurs here and there.

    Report on-board Sea Urchin IIl

out on Saturday started on a wreck on the 9 mile mark got around 15 cod 1 ling a couple of pouting and 1 witing .then went on to ground marks .but wind and tide together was a bit like hard work getting up to 1.9 knotts so decided to go in close and put the anchor down uptiding wich proved fruitless .so a really hard day with a smaller stamp of fish from what we have been getting lately .thev tides are building again so hopefully things should improve .going in morning with a family outing .so will report tomorrow night how we fared .

  • 02/2019 Fishing Report by chris Mole on Enterprise (West Mersea, Essex)

    Feb 2019 by chris Mole

    Report on-board Enterprise

Whent in search of some spurdogs this weekend, little early but we managed to find 14 Friday upto 18lb but only manage 2 sunday upto 13lb but plenty of rays to keep us busy,
This fisherie should improved over the next few weeks but we must sort the correct tides out for this,
Makes for a change of species as the cod fishing is very slow this year.
If you fancy targeting spurs give me a call few tides left.

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Well weird weekend of Feb 16/17th 2019 to be honest the weather was fine bit lumpy sunday to start but no rain at least! Tides were great mid range, perfect water colour and 5.5 degrees on the sounder but all we could manage were few whitting and flatties both days with sunday worst day. No seagulls to speak of and only a couple of seals was bit like a ghost town being the only boat out on Sunday. Got a midweek trip this wednesday 20th few places left will look to go off if weather allows at this rate i will be glad to see some spotty dogs in to keep us busy . As always big thanks to everyone for the weekend good banter as usual i cant afford all these cherry bakewells and mars bars you lot keep eating cos im not keeping you busy reeling in! Will report back midweek with better news hopefully till then tight lines .

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

Rich Horobrov and a couple of his mates joined us the other day on their 1st trip of the year.

We ran to a couple of offshore wrecks of which one produced a few nice cod to 7lb and a few small ling. The other wreck produced very little at all to be honest.

We decided to run back inshore to finish off on the ground. They managed to boat another half dozen codling from there.

Rich and his mates pictured inset.

Give me a ring any time to arrange any trips. The mobile number below is always with me along with the diary.
The first competition is fast approaching (13th -28th April) where we still have room on a number of days.

    Tight lines
