    Report on-board Mistress

It's been a cracking week again here at Whitby on Mistress.

The highlight has been a 21lb ling but we've also seen a few in the lower teens upto mid teens and another very big fish lost off again yesterday.
It's the time of year where we start seeing the big ling starting to move.

Plenty of cod also being caught by our anglers on a mixture of shads hokkai and bait rigs.

We're still taking booking for our 2 hour tuesday evening slots for parents and children.

We have a few spaces remaining this week,
    Wednesday 8th 5 places
    Thursday 9th 2 places
    Friday 10th 8 places.

If you fancy a trip with us give me a call on 07977 436903.

  • 06/2018 Fishing Report by Nigel Lihou on Optimist (Brixham, Devon)

    Jun 2018 by Nigel Lihou

    Report on-board Optimist

What a month it has been for Optimist here in Brixham. Back in April the Turbo went on the Engine and decisions need to be made; spend more on the Engine or source a replacement. The latter proved to be the way forward and after several abortive chases around the south coast and a wanted ad in FAFB we found a replacement in Jersey. This was taken out of the fishing boat it was in in Guernsey and shipped to Poole. A day out to Poole to collect then 2 weeks hard work to remove the old Engine and fit the New and we were up and running and a little bit more economical.
Back on the fishing and half day trips to the inshore wrecks were producing some nice sized Pouting and a Pollack, with the occasional Whiting. Full days have been spent on the Skerries hunting Plaice and Ray which this year is proving a little harder but when we hit them they are relatively plump specimens.
A pre booked party down for a week's fishing from Lancashire tested our fish finding abilities as the week they were here the wind forecast was Easterlies all week, (Brixham although on the South coast faces East) We managed to get round Start to Lannacombe for a day on the rough ground returning via the Skerries and a couple of days on the Inshore wrecks one day being cancelled due to the swell. The last day was a lumpy ride round to the mouth of the river dart sheltered from the East, and a couple of productive marks one producing Bull Huss up to 9.5lb as pictured with Bob one of the guys from Morecombe.
We continue to put you on the fish with a variety of species available on the Wrecks, Banks, reefs and marks that we have within a reasonable distance from Brixham, the mother port of Fishing.

Sat we seen a lot more fish and back on the shads. Fishing was very good and a lot of fish where taken over 80 fish in total but not many ling. Biggest was 7.5lb
Sunday was quite slow wind came and fishing was hard 8.5lb ling biggest and 6lb cod but overall a good weekend fishing.

5 Aug 2018 by Nick Gough

    Report on-board Skylark

    8 hour trip

What a insane 8hrs of nearly non stop fishing
Every single drift today produced 1 or more fish
Loads of live footage thoughout the day on our facebook page
One lad managed to catch around 30 cod alone
In total the lads must have caught in excess of 140 Cod/ Codling alone.
Aswell as ling, pollock, mackerel billet and whiting.

    3hour trip

Well the weather didnt hold out that nice a south easterly wind came through this afternoon and made sea conditions abit more challenging.

Never the less the customers still had a great trip and after an hour or so the winds died and the fishing really picked up.
Most anglers had between 5 to 8 good size cod each with quite a few just under 40cm returned to fight anouther day.
Loads of mackerel and a good few pollock as well overal they caught around 50 to 60 Cod to take home

Hopefully this brilliant fishing holds out now for the rest of the summer
