  • 09/06/2018 Fishing Report by Carl Farrar on TROT- ON (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

9 Jun 2018 by Carl Farrar

    Report on-board TROT- ON

Today saw a varied group aboard Trot On. We tried the wrecks on the inside. From the 1st drift we had a steady flow of Coddling coming aboard with fish to around 6lb falling to a mixture of Bait, Hokki's and shads . We ended the day with around 90 Coddling and Ling to keep as well as numerous under size fish that were released to fight another day. Ryan from Bolton had a trip out with his dad and showed him how it was done. We also had the Wakefield boys who had a good box between the 3 of them. With the W.C.S.A Summer festival starting on the 23rd of this month till July 15th with a 1st place prize of £5000 things are looking up for yet another festival win for Whitby's premier charter boat Trot On.

  • 07/06/2018 Fishing Report by jon old on High Flyer 2 (Great Yarmouth, Norfolk)

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Up to date June 7th 2018 been getting few rokers (thornback rays) most returned nice to see conservation, chased the mackerel in all the usual places out to about 15miles but nothing showed up yet . plenty of sandeels few gurnards and odd weaver on the feathers waters not too bad after about 12 miles bit of clarity. Been plagued with spotty dogs on some trips but all good sport keeping us busy still got the whiting im afraid one or two clonkers amongst them surprisingly. The cold weather few weeks ago putting the smoothounds back just getting the odd few decent ones mainly on peeler and as we have been keeping away from the bass spots only the odd schoolie weve caught all due to the total ban on them. So in all things have picked up a bit waiting for our first tope will be looking for them soon dont forget to look out for our specialist trips or if you have a certain date we can possibly accomadate you and make a trip up for you. Picture today of Eric Wright from Bedford with this weeks best roker of 10.5lb just broke the double figure mark believed it fell to fresh sandeel and herring coctail from memory. Wind back in the north for this weekend will be interesting to see what happens lets hope the winds are light as forcast! Until then tight lines everyone. Jon (High Flyer 2)

With the fishing Inshore now finally in full swing .Now the mackerel are here in numbers we are getting good numbers of Tope , Spurdogs , Congers and Bull Huss on the rough ground. The mussel beds are still producing a few Plaice and the Shambles Bank is always a good bet for a chance of a good Turbot. Black Bream are about after spawning and numbers will increase.

6 Jun 2018 by Paul Layton

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Another great day on the High Flyer 2. Tried the banks for Mackrel, unfortunately none today but we did get lots of sand eels which turned out great bait for the skate, doggies and smoothies we caught when we move closer inshore. Everyone caught decent fish and Jon looked after all to his usual high standards.

  • 06/2018 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

    Jun 2018 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

Ricky Butler, big Alister and their mates from Leeds joined us on Monday for the first of their trips this year.

I'd explained that we'd been working in very shallow water lately and they would be getting literally a full days angling in their 10 hour trip as we didn't have to travel very far at all.

We started off on the rock top just outside the harbour where we grabbed a few jumbo mackerel and a few codling to start the day.

We then proceeded back to where we had been for the past 2 days and the lads were quite amazed at just how close to the shore we were when we stopped. Through the binoculars you could see rabbits running around on the side of the cliffs!! From the very start the lads were in to the cod catching on both the shads and the hokkai traces. A good number of double ups coming aboard on the multi hook traces.

At the end of the day the lads ended up with well over 100 cod from the grounds.

On the way back to port we had a stop at the "Bell bouy" to see if the mackerel were still there. They were. They bagged a further 70 -80 in just 2 drifts to take for the barbecue and friends.

All in all a cracking day for the boys.

Remember, the summer comp starts on the 23rd June. £5000.00 cash 1st prize!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Days left with room are :-

    Mon 25th. Room for 4.
Thurs 12th July. Room for 6.
    Sun 15th. Room for 6.
Individuals are welcome to join us as always.

Cheers & tight lines as ever
    Rich
