Report on-board Pegasus
Well that was better! we managed 16 days at sea in April and 6 out of the first 8 days of May, pleasure to spending so much time at sea and on some days in some pretty awesome weather especially the recent May bank holiday weekend. Anyway onto the fishing, the start of April usually see much ore interest in our inshore trips rather than wrecking which is nice for a change. We've had plenty of Smoothhounds up to 7lb 6oz, a few Rays again only to about 7lb, pollack on the reefs into double figures along with a couple of early cod, there where still plenty of Channel whiting the last time we tried although interest in fishing for them is declining as the summer species start to move in, which brings me on to the Bream, in the past couple of years we have normally only caught the odd fishing during spring where catches further east seem to be very good but this year we seem to have a "colony" of breeding fish on our grounds which is great to see, in turn we have had quite a few Bream in the past week upto 3lb 9oz. The only thing thats really disappointed me about the inshore fishing s far is that we event been seeing many Plaice, especially as the seem to be catching them everywhere else but thats fishing for you.

Wrecking has tailed of somewhat recently with the Pollack fishing slowing up as it always does at this time of year and the fish also being a smaller average size, we are hoping to see the arrival of cod in good numbers soon!
Offshore anchored trips have produced some lovely Blonde rays up to 25lb and conger but unfortunately the Spurdogs are playing hard to get to the west of Portland this year for some reason, not long now and the Tope will be around and in July we will start Sharking! can't wait.
Hope to see you out on the water soon

Today George Ho and his mates from Manchester chartered the boat. He and the lads have a trip a month aboard the Shy-Torque and today's trip was a fairly good one.
We started off on a few wrecks to the North side of the harbour. The first one didn't produce much more than half a dozen or so but the second wreck did produce nicely The lads took 25 nice plump cod to around the 7 lb mark. We then moved off shore for some ground fishing where they continued to pick away with the cod for the rest of the day.
A nice day all round with great company and again some lovely summer weather.
George is pictured with one of his many "doubles" of the day.

Trip 2 was a short over the tide trip again on a ray hunt. Young Finn was the first to bag a ray. As he started to real it in you could hear John say “hurry up” within in 3 minutes. When finn landed his 7lb ray John must have said it to him half a dozen times. Thornback backrays startd coming over the rail steadily for next hour or so to the sound of John saying “hurry up”. Then John finally caught one which he took his time reel in to the chorus of “hurry up” a great trip over the tide was had and we caught seven rays and a doggie. The family enjoyed their trip so much they have booked a full trip again already. Looking forward to having stu and his family on board again in August.ww

It feels like an eternity since I have written a report so here goes. The first of three trips this bank holiday weekend started with a couple of no shows a 04:00 which left us with just 3 anglers on board today. Rather than disappoint 3 very eager anglers off we went into the river on a ray hunt to warm us up. Fred jimmy and sneaky mick warmed up nicely with 10. Off we went looking for smoothies, initially we found more rays the first of many doggies and I have never been happier to see a doggie ever. Fred then called for the net to land not only his first smooth hound but the boats. I am not sure how many rays and doggies we caught but it was alot.
