Report on-board High Flyer 2
Flat calm seas this Saturday 21st April made a lovely change ! Headed out as tide was perfect to 5 mile bank in the hope of few skate armed with fresh herring and various bits and pieces but wasnt to be. Caught first of the season small starry smoothound pictured here early for us on this coast so had to snap it despite its size! Wont be long before they make a showing in numbers. Moved about six time today, basically whitting everywhere we went with few nice keepers. caught about 30 spotty dogs all returned with half dozen reasonable flatties, in all not brilliant but ok for this time of year. no roker for us today unfortunately not up here this week hopefully soon as reports of twenty miles away been starting to get them. Big thanks to the Luton lads looking forward to next trip.

Report on-board Mistress
We've had two absolute cracking days here at Whitby on thursday the lads boated around 100 codlings and friday around 70 codlings all in the 2lb-4lb range with a couple a bit bigger. Plenty of fish returned.
We're still uptiding as the waters very mucky still. Best baits continue to be Black lug and unwashed squid.
Due to a cancellation we have 6 places available tomorrow ( sunday) the trip is £50 for 10 hours. Hire tackle and bait can be provided if required.
Give me a call or text on 07977 436903 if youre interested.

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
After a long cold winter the season has started with the start of the 1st of thevBlack Bream being caught yesterday and more today, although they are very finnicky feeders and are only mouthing the baits they have to be teased into taking it, as soon as the water temp rises they will be full on. Along with the Bream we have enjoyed plenty of fun with small Hounds afew rays, plaice and the odd Turbot.

GREAT NEWS - THE PLAICE ARE BACK -
During Reg Phillips and friends Angling Break last weekend I decided to go and see if the mussel beds had returned and was there any Plaice there. I was over joyed to find they had and we caught some lovely Plaice which were all in prime condition and stuffed full of pea mussels. The average size was very good with 3 to 4Ib plus fish being landed and two days in a row the first Plaice to be landed were over 4Ib. Weight of Plaice pictured 4Ib 2oz caught by Paul Baxter.
DON'T MISS OUT - I have added trips to include Plaice fishing to my 2018 bookings diary some of which are 10 hour trips which I know are popular as they can give you extra time/chances on the Plaice. Quick update on Sunday April 15th last trip. Was incredibly foggy down to 50ft visibility scuppered plans that we had in store. Ended up close to shore hiding up out of any traffic safe thing to do with constant AIS on which goes against the grain! Three vessels joined us so all fished close together in constant contact couldnt see them at all at times was a very damp day with everything soaked including me. First codling came in to Chris press ganged to have his picture took followed by few more small ones during the session. Few spotty dogs and whiting to add into the mix wasnt a brilliant day but in the big tides and rubbish weather was just nice to get out instead of going shopping! Big thanks to the lads for coming out were now looking forward to the first thornbacks arriving any day now, have all the frozen herring we need bagged up for next few months till mackerel arrive might try some night trips for them this year as they come in close to beaches at night will keep you all posted. Not looking to good for this weekend with easterlies forcast at moment i hope that changes soon. Until next trip tight lines people. Jon (High Flyer 2)

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)
Apr 2018 by Scott Belbin
Report on-board Galloper
My apologies Its been a while since my last report on here again. the cold snap that hit us in the early part of the year had a negative affect on both the fishing and our bookings unfortunately. Thankfully the weather has sorted its self out now and so has the fishing so everything is back on track. As the water has warmed up the thorn-back rays have appeared in abundance as we have come to expect in recent years. The fish are now fairly wide spread so we can see good fishing in most weather conditions should we need to. There have been a few smooth-hounds and the odd bass mixed in too. This is a sure sign that summer is not too far away. the codling have been mid water feeding on the herring that moved in after the cold snap. This in turn has meant we have seen very few on rod and line. However the last weekend saw a few come out so hopefully we will see a showing of codling mixed in over the next week or so before they move off.
The ‘galloper’ is out of the water this week for a polish, antifoul and general jobs as well as her 5 year survey. She will be back in the water by Saturday with a fresh 60 mile code of practice on her.
I have plenty of space this coming weekend for individuals and group bookings so if you fancy making the most of the nice weather please contact me. In the mean time I try to keep my website up to date with reports, availability and lots more information or please call 07956411528View Boats Page

Report on-board Meerkat
Is it the return of the Plaice?
Well yesterday (16th April) Was are first go at looking for a Plaice or two and with a few other boats trying earlier the week before are hopes were high that we might find some of these red spotty fish. We wasn't disappointed after an hour waiting for the tide to start changing for the better the fish soon started biting and we managed to pull a few out, what was even better all the fish we caught were full of pea mussel so is this the return of are once famous mussel beds? At the moment it is still very early to tell if the Plaice are going to be around all year and happy with there new homes so are hopes cant get to high just yet but time will tell, but im going to put a few dates up for Plaice and Turbot so we can keep testing the area to see if we are lucky enough to have them back.
Dates for Plaice,Turbot and Brill.
May 15th 11 hour trip (2 two trys for the Plaice) £60pp
May 22nd £55pp
June 4th £55pp
June 19th £55pp
