    Report on-board Duke IV

As the water warms and clears the fishing has been reliable with plenty of Skate with good shoals of Bass when the water drops clear. Also the Smoothound fishing has been good with plenty one day and none the next. Herring remains the best bait with lugworm catching all species. Mackerel have started showing to feathers although again can't be relied upon for bait. Fergus enjoyed showing all how to catch fish including the Hound pictured that took a liking to a herring chunk. Plenty of space available on Duke lV weekdays and still spaces available for individuals on 24thJune.

    Report on-board TROT- ON

Friday saw us out with a crew of 7 anglers, The first stop was on the ground at the 5 mile mark. This produced Coddling , Strap Ling and Whiting falling mainly to squid bait.
We then moved onto a wreck and started to pick up a better stamp of Coddlings as well as bigger Ling averaging around 5 -6 lb along with the pesky Pouting who as usual were pecking at the bait.
Baited Hookki's started to pick a few Mackeral up which were of a good pan size, Trot On regulars "Big Andy" Pendleberry and previous W.C.S.A festival winner Dave Makings were getting best results with bait and had approx 20 fish between them, However it was another angler who took the boat sweep with a nice plump Cod of around 8lb. caught on a shad. With the W.C.S.A. 2017 Summer festival starting July 1 -23 Trot On still has some places available so to in with your chance of winning the £5000 1st place prize give Paul Eddon a call on 07766995847 and book your place on Whitby's premier charter boat TROT ON

    Report on-board Wave Dancer

Sunday 4th WHAT A DAY probably my best days fishing so far. We started slowly with one 5lb ray in the first hour. The following 3 hours was the most prolific ray fest I have ever had,56 rays were caught from 1lb babies to the biggest 7.6lb and 1 whiting. We asked the anglers if they fancied a move and go for some smoothies, reluctantly they agreed so on we steamed. At he next mark the inevitable dog fish was soon caught followed by a 3.5lb smooth hound and his bigger brother at 7.5lb. Next on board we had a 4lb tope and a small plaice, a steady precession of smoothies, tope and starry smooth hounds followed. We caught 53 fish caught and the day at an end. As we called the day and the anglers were reeling in there lines we were all working out who had won the cash prize for first, most and biggest when jimmy shouted fish on. As the biggest fish winner I waited to see what had made his line go tight when mick also shouted fish on. After a small fight Mick landed his 5lb tope which worried me as jimmy was still fighting his fish. Following a decent fight Jimmy shouted for the net. As my heart sank he hoisted a 10.4lb starry smooth hound. What a great way to end a fantastic days fishing. Well done jimmy for not only landing a magnificent starry smooth hound but also snatching the biggest fish prize for the day.

Saturday 3rd went on a doggie hunt for this trip and we were not disappointed. Out the Irish Sea in what can only be described as a rollercoaster of a start due to big winds and rolling sea.
First doggie on board in under 10 minutes followed by 50 more in over three hours, we also caught lots of herring, flatties and a couple of whiting.
We pulled the hook and went for some shelter from the wind for the second half of the trip and found tope, smoithies and a couple of small rays.

  • 07/06/2017 Fishing Report by Philip Higgins on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

7 Jun 2017 by Philip Higgins

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

The Bream fishing continues to excel with good catches, the weather has restricted our options but the fishing has been excellent in Poole Bay, during May fishing close to the shores we caught plenty of 1lb to 3 lb Plaice, Gurnards, and small Hounds. The Lymington boys did their species comp in very challenging conditions and landed a respectable 21 different species including a new club record Cornish Sucker (still waiting for it to be verified). On the outer banks there are plenty of Bull Huss and Tope along with some big Blondes. As summer approaches come and join us and enjoy the spectacular scenery the Dorset coast has to offer and its fine fishing.
    all the best

    Jun 2017 by Colin Penny

    Report on-board Flamer IV

The Reef/Bank trips are producing some good fishing with species like Black Bream, Tope, Rays, Congers, Bull Huss, Turbot, Brill etc. Andy More landed a 10Ib 4oz Turbot on a two hook flowing trace with size 4/0 Sakuma Stinger hooks baited with Mackerel and Squid strips, the hungry Turbot took both hooks. Andy won a Flamer IV catch of the day trophy for his Turbot catch and is pictured with his Turbot.
Nice to see the Black Bream now showing on the Reefs around Portland after completing their spawning on the grounds east of Weymouth.
The Next Reef/Bank trips with places available are on June 18th, 24th, DON'T MISS OUT.

  • 06/2017 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

    Jun 2017 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    Hi all,

Some steady fishing whilst the weather has been holding up for us. The best day we have seen this last week or so was on a trip out to the "Wall" where the lads managed around 70 fish in total.

The water is still clearing out nicely now, both inshore and offshore and the algae seems to be waning at last.

A good number of mackerel have also been caught in the last few trips giving us some prime fresh bait for the rigs.

No massive fish to report this last few trips but some lovely quality fish for the table.

Regular angler on the Shy-Torque Bill Barraclough from Barnsley is pictured with a lovely prime Whitby cod just over 9lbs.

    Cheers
    Rich.

    Report on-board Discovery

04.06.17 We Welcomed Linas and his pals aboard to day.the trip was booked as a offshore trip
unfortunately the wind came up when we had travelled 20 miles out so we turned back and fished the banks.
We had Smooth hounds to 9 lbs and plenty of Thornback rays ,Whiting ,Dabs but no Bass the Lads obviously liked the trip off shore as they have re booked again.
Many thanks Linas to you and your Friends see you in the Winter.
