    Report on-board Kelley's Hero Charters

Sorry we haven't written a blog for a while guys, but there has been a lot going on at Kelley's Hero. Since we last blogged, as many of you know we have bought a new boat. We now have a 11m South Catamaran, and we can carry 12 passengers. She is now back home in Southsea Marina and has already been put to work.

On the first trip since the last blog, we had a small group book the boat, they hadn't been out fishing for a few years and they were really excited about getting out on the water. The only fault we could have picked with the day is that we nearly ran out of bait by 2pm. Thankfully we caught enough live bait to keep us going. We ended the day with nearly 300 whiting upto 3lb, and 3 cod up to 12lb. It was certainly a great day with some great weather to go with it.
The trip after that one wasn't as successful, and after staying out and trying for 10 hours, our patience wore a bit thin and we ended up going back in with no cod.

The new boat had to come down from Hartlepool, which is 375 nautical miles, this should have taken 24 hours non stop. As it was, it took 3 days over a week due to the weather, We arrived back into Southsea Marina at 0130 in the morning, and we had a trip going out at 8. So it was all hands to deck, getting the new liferafts on, and all the gear swapped over.
We did manage to get out at 0800, but the fishing wasn't the greatest, with only whiting, pout, dogfish and a conger to be seen, but at least our anglers got out and were able to test the new boat out.

We had a few evening trips booked in over the month, no cod caught, just a few colds, whiting congers, rays and the usual dogfish. These night trips are very popular and are becoming a regular thing.

Many of you may know that we have a competition running for the biggest cod of the season, which runs from October to January 31st. The winner receives a free inshore trip aboard Kelley's Hero, and £100 voucher for Allans Marine. The last weekend we managed out, we had a new leader, this was Gerry, with his first ever cod, weighing 16lb 7oz.
One that competition ends, we will then have one for our wrecking season, with the biggest Pollack winning a similiar prize.

Things have been very busy, with the new boat arriving, and christmas coming up etc etc. But we are now sorting our bookings out for next year. We are doing Alderney trips, Weymouth Trips, and 2 day trips to Brighton. As well as all our normal wrecking and inshore trips.

If anyone would like any information on any dates etc please feel free to text or email with what you are after

We look forward to seeing you soon,

    Report on-board Sea-Juicer

Fishing has picked up well during November with good size Whiting to 2.5lb turning up in the eastern solent along with some bigger Cod,
On Deep water marks Cod ,Bullhuss , Spurs , Congers to 35lb seem to have switched to their winter feed up .some days they are becoming a nuisance as other fish not getting a chance on the baits .but cant complain they still put a nice bend in the rod . best Cod to date a nice 24lb for Aidan which fell to a dirty squid bait.

Things should continue to improve for December lets hope the weather is kind & i can get offshore on the Small tides for Blondes Spurs & Bull Huss along with the bigger Cod & no doubt Congers

The .Solent should continue to produce good bags of whiting along with the cod

I have dates / spaces available for Groups & Individuals see my calendar for details

    Report on-board Girl Mandy

What can i say fishing has taken yet another downturn in the
last week where once we were filling bags with good whiting and a few skate plus dabs dogs and pouts also bass but only small ones. Up to our trip today we are still getting large numbers of whiting but the quality has gone down average of 15 to 20 keepers per rod and no skate or dogs so looks like the easterlies the week before and this weekend have taken the fish back out. Hopefully weather pattern this week is a sw to wsw and things will settle down but as for the cod nobody seems to know our rods are in and hooks baited they just need to ring the bell and things will get going but it may well be next year if at all and my fingers and a lot of other skippers are crossed but we are not holding our breath till our next report good luck and tight lines

    Hi guys,
well with the absence of Cod we still have to keep going..!! we appreciate all our customers for their unprecedented support.
I know the Thornbacks have been the mainstay of our catches just of late, but now the water temperature is falling fast, it mat still not be to late to see some Cod..!! I did here several boats during the week from the Blackwater had landed 6 between them so who knows may be this might be the start of a little showing..??? we can only hope so.
We will be leaving early tomorrow and get the last 2 hours of ebb tide in and be ready for the first of the flood.... and with all baits firmly on the bottom, all we need is Mr Cod to come along and start feeding..... Sounds simple doesn't it...lol speak to you all soon remember what one of these looks like....!!
    Tight lines...!!

  • 01/12/2016 Fishing Report by Philip Higgins on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

1 Dec 2016 by Philip Higgins

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

Yesterday the 1st Flounder trip of the winter series was fished in below zero conditions to start with and small ice patches catching the lines, as the tide eased and with the sun getting stronger a few Flounders were landed over the turn of the tide more Flounders were landed with Terry Vye getting the biggest. The conditions and scenery were so good and peaceful that fishing seemed to take 2nd place. Tomorrow we go looking for Cod and Whiting.
If you would like to join us on any of these trips please check the calendar schedule on CBUK / www.mistresslindacharters.com or call direct 07860794183
