Report on-board Sapphire 2 charters
Saturday and Sunday 8th and 9th October 2016, Well with the strong northerly winds we had a break in the weather which allowed us to get out over the weekend but still with biggish swells the lads still manage ling to 14lb and a few cod around 3 half lb, still lots of Mackerel around but in deeper and clearer water,

Fishing Report by Kevin McKie
on Size Matters (Plymouth, Devon)
Oct 2016 by Kevin McKie
Report on-board Size Matters
They say seeing is believing and that sure was the case during the last week. On one of the day's i had a group of lad's onboard from Bristol, the plan was to catch as much fresh bait as possible then steam out about 50 miles to anchor a wreck for big conger and ling.
It took 10 lad's over two hours to catch half a box of mackerel and then we where on our way. As soon as we arrived at the wreck I set the boat up and sent the anchor down to the sea bed.
Nothing happened for the first 30 minutes then as usual all hell broke lose, the lad's where all into conger and ling. There was one lad called Kush who had never fished with me before and he was using a uptide rod with a multiplier, but we where fishing in over 280ft of water using 1lb of lead. Not the best set up for this type of fishing, he then hooked his first conger and started to reel in with the reel under the rod, talk about hard work. But he landed a conger about 40lb, next drop he hooked a very good fish, he was struggling but after 20 minutes he landed the best conger of the day and it tipped the scale's at 82lb. On the same trip one angler caught a 34lb ling and then snapped his 30lb class rod on a good fish and his line snapped at the same time. As for other fishing the shark fishing has come to an end with just the odd blue being reported. The pollack and cod fishing is very patchy, this could be down to the fact there is not much bait fish about.
We have still managed Conger to 82lb, Ling to 34lb and Pollack to 12lb. On one of the day's when we where bait fishing and one of the lad's caught a red band fish, I have never seen one before but what a cracking looking fish a first for me.
Cheers
Kev

Fishing Report by Roger Lennon
on Skerry Belle (Ramsgate, Kent)
10 Oct 2016 by Roger Lennon
Report on-board Skerry Belle
The fishing should be spectacular now off the coast of Ramsgate, all through the months of November, December, January and February. The cod fishing will be superb! The herring and sprat scholes have now moved offshore. So with the cod putting on extra weight feeding on these the fish should be much larger than last year. Averaging the 6-8lb bracket and definitely a chance of a large double. With this and the skate fishing on the goodwins where we have seen fish up to 15lb. And over 25 fish a trip. It really should be a bumper few months. Remember all my trips include equipment and some baits and I can supply lug worm onboard so no need to worry about baits on any trip. Remember all trips include a qualified deckhand for your tuition. Children and families more than welcome. Individuals from as little as £40 a head. Call me now on 07805250427 to book.
Tight lines,
RogerView Boats Page

Fishing Report by TERRY BATT
on Vanishing Point-2 (Bradwell Marina, Essex)
10 Oct 2016 by TERRY BATT
Report on-board Vanishing Point-2
Well just got back from today's charter and over the last 3 days we have landed 142 Thornback's, with a large percentage returned and some taken for the table...
Today's party started the day with a clay shooting competition so by the time the shooting was done, the ebb tide had just got away.. that saved an hour of sitting there with little to no fish as the tides are so small at the moment it takes an age to run..! and usually it's no tide run, little to no fish.
But once we got on our fishing mark we got a couple of fish almost right away, then nothing..?? so I pulled the anchor and guided the boat just 350 yards East, just up the bank a bit, and then we were off...!! another 30 Roker followed during the rest of the day... the lads we very focused and given the lack of tide, they missed very few opportunities.. which can make the difference between a good day and a not so good day...
Of course we had umpteen LSD's and Whiting, to fill in the gaps, but all in all, a very nice little day, with nice people..
Only heard of one Cod being caught from a local boat, so nothing to get excited about yet....! with the water temperature today still tipping the scales at 15.8 degrees I think it will be another couple of weeks before we will actively start trying to sell Cod trips, I am not sending out false hopes when I know you will be disappointed, as the old saying goes, One swallow doesn't make a summer...
and One Cod doesn't mean they are here...
All the Blackwater based boats are fishing quite well at the moment.... Phil White on Chinook II from my port of Bradwell has returned with some good catches, as has Chris Mole on Enterprise out of West Mersea, Lee Bollingbrock and Lester both from Brightlingsea all catching well.
In the coming weeks I expect to see a larger presence in the River Blackwater and through to the Wallet our colleges from the River Crouch, coming to join us on our home fishing grounds to seek out the winter Cod... so lets hope they turn up in good number and we all work together to give our parties some great days sport..!! look forward to seeing you guys again..!!
OK having both engines undergoing major service over the next two days, so back out on Friday.
Tight lines & Hot guns...!!!!
