Having a real treat when the weather is kind.

Friday we got to my favourite hound spot but weed was a problem , we moved a few times and found the weed was not so bad closer in, the hounds bass and skate soon appeared and remained pretty much all day.
Best hound was 18lb loads snapped off.
Sunday was windy but we managed a few hours on the same mark. Hounds again to 14lb and as the tide dropped we saw gulls working so had a go and found bass and mackerel. -

To all fellow skippers be aware of another arse that thinks its funny to book up as three individuals and then not bother to show up his name is ( David phone number 07754828930 ) and then to not answer the phone or texts i think people that do this should be taken to court and fined then they would feel how it is to loose money. And apologies to Jay that had his group either not going or having to pay a bit more we did a deal instead of the full amount but he was not happy even to the point he blamed me for the other group. We have a business to run Jay and if we went to work for no money it would not take long to go bust once again the arseholes name is ( David 07754828930 ) you are now in the black book and hopefully not be able to rip other skippers off

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)
Sep 2016 by Scott Belbin
Report on-board Galloper
Yet again it has been far too long since my last report on here so I must apologise. It has been a busy summer aboard the ‘Galloper’ with some good fishing and weather to match it meaning we had to cancel very few trips. The main target of our summer trips have been the smooth-hounds which were around in good numbers and decent size yet again. the bass were in good numbers in the blackwater estuary its self. This occupied us on many evening trips and provided some great sport on light tackle. There were vast numbers of undersized bass in here and on most occasions a few decent fish too. Once the water had warmed up the rays and dogfish moved further offshore for the summer. We didn’t spend a lot of time fishing for them through out the summer months as the hounds were such good sport. now the summer species are on their way out we have turned our attention back to the thorn-back rays and thankfully they have started to move back in on numbers. Last weekend was quite windy which is when the blackwater comes in to its own. Many of the boats sought shelter in the estuary its self and were rewarded with some respectable catches. My party had 14 aboard the ‘Galloper’ on Sunday but some of the other charter boats had getting on for 30 rays. along with thorn-back rays several other species came out of the estuary over the weekend such as whiting, dogfish, silver eel, bass and gurnard. Ive no doubt over the coming months we will be back in the estuary which (as I often bang on about) is one of our biggest assets. The sheltered fishing it provides often saves a cancelled trip and the fuss of trying to re-organise so if your cancelled else where then it can be worth calling one of the mersea, bradwell or brightlingsea boats. We should see some cod mixed in too over the next few months both in the blackwater and further afield on our usual marks. I write regular reports on my website and Facebook page and the calendar is usually as up to date as It can be. Report on-board Malaki
Me and a few friends deciced to have a days wreck fishing so we booked up wiith Barry Handley on Malaki . We were told to be at sparks marina for 7am start.Well we all met up at 6:30am,loaded the tackle on the boat ,then we left the marina at 7 sharp. The weather was great, the sun was out and the sea was flat,so we were all looking at each other hoping for a good day.Little did we know what was in store. We made our way out to the first wreck which took about 2hrs,which we took a few fish off, then we moved to the next wreck with the same result. Barry then said lines up we are going out further to the next wreck. When we arrived barry lined the boat up and gave the call to drop our lures down, then we were all into big Pollock.on each drift we were taking double figure fish. Sreve harber on the back had 5 fish up to 15lb 9ozs, Stuart had 9 fish up to 16lb, Brains biggest 11lb and Jason the skippers son after mixed start had fish up to 12lb 6ozs. When we had enough fish we upped lines headed for home. what a great days fishing with most fish into double figures. Thanks barry for putting us onto the fish and the rest of the crew for making it such a good day. Some of catch can be seen on the web site

Fishing Report by Steve Green

The tale of the Green net.....
View Boats Page
When I bought Brigand down to Brighton the previous skipper Kevin McKie (now operating "Size Matters" out of Plymouuth/Liverpool (great angler, great skipper & great boat so if you are ever down that way hit Kev up) left a huuuuge green net onboard. I mean this thing is massive, almost 4ft across and I have been tripping over it and meaning to take it off the boat for the last 6 months. Yesterday I was so glad I didn't!!! It was pressed into service 3 times for 20lb plus Blonde Ray's, the biggest over 25lb, patiently and skilfully landed by Sam.
I knew we had a chance of a big Blonde but 3 of them at 20lb+ and a cracker over 25lb exceeded expectation. Target species were Brill and Turbot, happy to report that we boated 9 Turbot & 1 Brill up to 8lb 3oz - beautiful deep fish in prime condition.
A great group of anglers who worked hard all day and were fantastic company so a big thank you to all for making the day so memorable.
Interestingly, the two best fish of the day were caught as the sun was setting mid-channel so very pleased we decided to stay out on the banks and not at all concerned that we arrived back in Brighton in the dark gone 10pm. £45 for 13hrs of Turbot, Brill & Giant Blonde's - worth thinking about perhaps?
Our focus is now moving to Winter Cod and as always with Brigand only the best and biggest will do - £50 will secure you quality tackle, quality bait, quality boat with no extras but as our reputation grows sadly the availability reduces so if you want to be assured of an excellent day out on the water get in touch soon.
Best wishes
