Fishing Report by Philip Higgins

Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3
With the weekends forecast coinciding with very small tides offshore fishing seemed to good an opportunity to miss. Taking advantage of this we headed out to sea with several stops for mackeral which we had trouble finding close to shore so heho we just went with what bait we had. At our chosen anchor point with the anchor deployed several lads decided to try for bait and fortunately mackeral came in thick and fast, as soon as the big baits hit the bottom the fishing kicked off with large congers, big Tope and outstanding size bream coming in so fast I never got back in the wheelhouse for the duration fo the Saturday trip much to the amusement of the lads, several good fish were lost due to bite offs. Sunday was much the same but the tide seemed to be much more vicious but as soon as it cut a little the action kicked in with eels, Tope and more big bream coming onboard. It was a pleasure to watch both groups returning most of the bream only the deeply hooked ones were kept, over the 2 days the bream fishing was exceptional with the best being 4lb 12ozs (returned alive). A tiring weekend for me but fantastic fishing for the boys. Once moored up we were inspected by the SIFCA officers and with nothing to worry about and their good professional approach we had a few laughs and went our separate ways, as a skipper I welcome these inspections.
Check out the website for spaces on forthcoming trips.

Report on-board Brigand
Made the best of poor weather today by getting out for some mackerel which is now filleted and wrapped in 5kg packs in the freezer ready for you to use..... Like all things on Brigand it is free
Always bring a pack of this versatile bait along on our trips as a standby in one of our cool boxes packed with flaked ice.....don't like to waste precious fishing time when they are scarce.
Best wishes
Steve

Report on-board Just Mary
Hi All, arriving back late Friday night from a trip abroad to visit my extended family and straight back to work early Saturday morning ! Due to some slack Neap tides we stuck to Plan A and went three miles South of the Anvil with fresh Mackerel and anchored an Offshore bank. The forecast showed the winds slacking but they picked up and we coped with conditions that 'Just Mary' thrives in. She just sits there unmoved by the conditions and is such a solid stable Sea Boat. A move to the 'Slates' produced Conger Eel and Paul Green is pictured with one. We moved again to the 'Spoils' and caught Tope on fresh Mackerel again before another move to Ballard for Undulates. Sunday the wind died down and with a party from the West Midlands travelling to Poole plus some locals we again went South of the Jurassic Coast. We landed Mackerel, Gurnard, Undulate Rays, Black Bream, Pouting and more Conger on a glorious day in the Sun. Another busy weekend on the Boat that goes farther to find the fish.....thanks to All my Dedicated Anglers.....old and brand new.....ta Malc.

Report on-board Lead Us
A great fish for Barry on Lead Us
with a bit of swell running but a falling forecast we headed to an offshore mark in time to catch the start of the ebb. Things were slow until the tide picked up with a couple of hounds coming in, and then Barry was into a good fish which stayed deep and fought hard, at first site i thought it was a cod when i saw the white of its belly but a flash of its black back told me it was a bass and a good one. once landed and weighed it tipped the scales at 7.5lb a PB for Barry and the best bass on Lead Us so far this year. Things slowed down as the tide eased again but after a couple of moves we started catching again as the flood picked up with some more good hounds coming in ending up with 12 to 7lb and the bass @7.5lb.

Fishing Report by Nick Gough
on Skylark (Scarborough, North Yorkshire)

Report on-board Skylark
We had 3 great wreck fishing trips today with many very happy customers.
We started off with a 8 hour trip in not the greatest conditions but far better than it had been during the week. Unfortunatly for us we had 9 anglers cancel the night before but this gave the two customers a great opertunity to have the boat to themselves.
Shads had the avantage taking the better Cod with bait grtting a good mix of cod and ling.
Heavist cod was 15lb caught by the skipper on a protype uv/glow shad which after seeing the results we will be fabricating some more to try. The skylark twintails and skylark 4inch shads worked really well too outfishing top brand shads which is great to see.
Our second trip was a 3 hour wrecking trip with prety much new anglers and kids who managed the wrecks really well catching a good amount of mackerel and ling and a few Cod.
The last 3 hour wrecking trip of the day was again with new anglers and kids and they again had severel bags of cod and ling to take home with them.
Photo from the second 3 hour trip of the day.View Boats Page

Report on-board High Flyer 2
Bringing us up to date been bashing the tope as you can see picture today of Barry regular on High Flyer with his first ever tope , went off like a train thought it was alot bigger due to fight put up. All tope returned unharmed with wire hooks that rust out in case of snapoffs conservation a big part now in tope fishing. The feathering producing thousands of sandeels which this particular tope was caught on, mackerel been patchy for us, few gurnards and weavers and odd flatty thrown in. The bass gone off the boil just the odd one or two at the moment plenty of smoothies still about even tiny little pups still. Best fish(tope) at the moment stands at 31lb fell to Karl Bird from lincs hopefully heavier ones lurking around time will tell keep eye on website and our facebook page under ( Jon Old High flyer ) or (High Flyer Sea Fishing Trips). will be trying up to the weekend for few more tope weather permitting so see what happens if you fancy your hand at catching one of these let me know will make few more trips up, until then tight lines everyone. Jon (High Flyer)
