    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

We had another cracking day on the hard fighting Smoothounds today Tuesday (17th/5/16) .

With the sun beating down on us and not another boat in sight, we set off to try to not only get big hounds, but Tope in the mix.

Well we got to the mark just at high water, so we got rigged for both species.... and after about 15 minutes the tide just started trickling out, and as the anchor rope tightened the first hound hit a rod, sending it into a frenzy and the first fish was on, this was a decent fish of around 7 lbs, then Paul Nichols responded with a real rod bending, reel screaming, take....well Paul is a seasoned angler, and he was his cool self, and just let the fish tire itself out, until she came to the net then it was game over... the fish was on the deck..!! after photos and weighing the fish it was released as was every fish boated today, great angler, great guys we always look forward to seeing Paul and the crew.

Sadly the two rods fishing for Tope, didn't get a single run... but hey ..!! that's fishing...

    I will post a photo of Paul's 17 lbs fish......enjoy..

    Tight lines.....!!

    Report on-board Just Mary

Hi All, to keep this short and sweet this weekend on a 3 hour Stag Party trip from Swanage we had seven Novices on Saturday. Everyone landed a selection of fish including two Double figure Undulate Rays, both female as the bigger fish always are, two Spotted Rays, Numerous Doggies, some good Smoothound, a 3lb Bass that was returned and Bream. Everyone caught so everyone happy ! On Sunday despite the forecast being 'a bit off' with more Sea and wind than expected we stuck with Plan A and went three miles South of the Jurassic Coast. A group of ten Singles/Individuals landed Double figure Undulates and Smoothounds plus Tope. Also Doggies, Bream, Gurnard and a small Conger. No fresh Mackerel so all on frozen or Calamari or Ragworm as bait. My latest Star is Gabrielius who is only 8 years old who pulled up a 14lb male Undulate from 120 feet with much encouragement from all onboard. He was fishing with his Dad Arturas and a party of Lithuanian friends from London, East 17 and was brilliant all day in his efforts to land fish. Only get limited opportunities to fish these good Neap tides and we took it with both hands. Everyone did well in the conditions and we managed some 'Personal best' fish with the London party on Hire Rods. Thanks to All onboard and see You All again soon, All the Best, Malc, 'Just Mary', Poole, Dorset.

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Well after not finding very big Smoothounds yesterday the hunt was on in earnest today...
We set sail at 0700 hrs and a new course set to try a bit of ground not often fished by our boats,
After and hour and ten minutes we reached our destination..!! I took one look at the water and said to Nicola.... today we hit the big ones... and as the tide got away the first fish up was a ......... doggie, not what I planed for, but all rods were baited and holding bottom when Bob's rod bent hard over in the rod holder, and the fight was on, the first real hound of the day, we had around 30 hound in various sizes from 5- 14lbs ..
As the tide eased away and the hounds went off, I suggested the lads use squid to see if there were any Thornback Rays living .here, and after 20 minutes, terry landed a 9 lbs Ray followed by a 10 lbs Ray then several more before the tide finally stopped... then it was time to hit the road , pick up our pot to replenish out hermit crab stock that got hit real hard today, ready to do it all again tomorrow, we are also putting two Tope rods out tomorrow as the big Tope usually run along side the big Hounds... so we will see in the morning, with a good weather forecast, and great tide confidence is high.....!!!
By the way we still have Sunday 29th May (Bank Holiday) whole boat available if anyone is interested, today's party booked the Saturday 28th on the strength of today's fantastic fishing... first come, first served..!! Tight lines !!......

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Sunday 15th May..... really excited as we had our good friend Troy Botterell on the boat with his crew... always a great laugh. we started off picking up our pot for hermit crabs so we would have our Smoothound bait for the day...... so once the crabs had been lifted and stowed we set off to our first stop the tide was just starting to turn for the ebb tide, and with expectations high we had a few dogfish to kick off with, then I caught our first Hound of the season... well I say hound.. pup really then Peter had a hound about the same stamp... then Paul Kitley had a tremendous take, a real rod bender..!! he wound down on to the fish, had the thing on for a few seconds.... then bang, it was off, the hook came in stripped of bait... so we fished on for an hour or so but very little came up so I decide to make a move Eastward by quite a few miles into deep water, and again we had dogs some hounds, and \Barry was catching Roker, so after a good while we spent the last hour South of where we were and fish the tide out a better stamp of Smoothound fell to Peters rod, and more Skate... so we came to slack water when we decided to set up for the Clay Pigeon shooting.... well what a hot shoot-out it was, Troy started the proceedings, with a respectable score,
(always hard when you go first) but still a good score, then the pace got hotter as Peter, Paul, then Tony took their turn... but then Barry took the shot gun and showed us all how to do it, he was on fire...!!! half way through we even for the first time used the oscillating table, well Paul didn't miss one, once we made it harder... he is an awesome clay shooter cant wait to see how the next trip turns out..!!!
After the Shooting we made our way back 10 miles or there about's, the tide was now flooding, so as it was such a lovely day we decided to stop and fish for another hour and a bit, and I know some call then BAG |FISH but yes we fished for Roker, but this time the bigger variety we had several at 10 lbs, but Peter had a real stonker on and half way into the fight .... Bang..!! it was gone, when he wound in his hook had snapped in half in the curve... oh no cheap hooks...lol but as the guys were fishing for one of our lovely fishing trophies for the biggest fish of the day, I reckon that would have been it.
Oh well, that's fishing the trophy went to Tony, (Photo inset) and everyone had just a great day with fantastic weather...
Look forward to seeing you all next time guys,
    Terry & Nicola.... Tight lines...!!!

Cod Pollock and ling are showing on the wrecks, the indication is looking like a good season ahead. The may water is slowing the inshore marks up but we are getting some inshore cod now but when the May water dies off this will improve
