    Report on-board Kelley's Hero Charters

So i haven’t blogged in about 2 months, but this is only due to the fact that we haven’t managed to get out on too many occasions due to the weather.
Of course we would have loved to get out more but seems we didn’t even manage 50% of what was booked.
Luckily for us and the anglers we have managed a few trips in the last couple of weeks, mainly inshore for the early bream, and a couple offshore. We have taken beginners out to catch their first fish on their first sea fishing trip, taken regulars to try and better the PB’S and even regulars out just to test the water so to speak.
Well we did manage to find some Bream, unfortunately we didn’t find loads but we did get a few. On some days it was hard due to the wind and tide conditions, but we did our best and found what we could. Inshore we had species such as Tub Gurnard, Mackerel, Bream, Dogs, baby Bullhuss, Tope, Garfish, smoothound, conger, whiting, plaice and a variety of skate. If the weather conditions on some of these trips had been better then im sure we would have had a load more bream etc. Once the water warms up etc then im sure they will be in as normal.
And of course we managed out on the wrecks a couple of times since the last blog. The first couple of trips were hard but again due to the tide conditions. But the fish we were seeing, were in good fighting fit condition, Mainly Pollack. On the 7th May we managed back out again, the sun was shining, the sea was flat, what more could we ask for. We left the pontoon at 0730, with our anglers keen to go and catch some pollack.
We did find some pollack, but not too many of them, They were all a nice size and in very good condition. However we weren’t too bothered by the lack of pollack, as we managed to find some nice Cod. This was nice to see and our anglers soon starting filling the net time after time. The cod were in great condition also, and they were a slightly bigger than last year and seems they have changed their taste in lures, in a shaddy type of way !! ;-).
Kelley’s Hero is back out this week to find some more cod and pollack on the wrecks, and more bream inshore……..

If you would like to book either an inshore trip for the bream, or a wrecking trip for the cod, please give me a call on 07795 538933

    Ian :-)

  • 08/05/2016 Fishing Report by Philip Higgins on Mistress Linda / San Gina3 (Poole, Dorset)

8 May 2016 by Philip Higgins

    Report on-board Mistress Linda / San Gina3

At last sun shine and flat seas a charter skippers dream day at the office, although the tides were very big we choose to go off to the mid channel wreck marks seeking cod and pollack, on arrival our drift speed was 3.2 knots we were into good size pollack and as the tide eased cod came aboard the best being 20lb 8ozs by Conn Bratcher, this continued all through slack and the start of the ebb which came back with a vengeance the fishing stopped at 3kts we stayed a little longer and when our drift speed hit 4.8knots we decided to retire and watch the nations favourite underdogs lift the premier league trophy.
Sunday was a more gentle day with lots of bream and several strings of mackeral whilst sat at anchor, the bream fishing is excellent , if you like fishing for bream then now is your chance to have a great sporting day on them.

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    08.05.16.

Well, what a contrast from yesterday.

No great shakes at all yesterday but a lot worse today!!!

Ran back to grounds well offshore (30 mile) to find the algae had kicked in BIG time overnight out there too.

Scraped around for very little at all. Again, a lovely day weather wise with 200% effort put in as always but rubbish fishing!!

    Roll on clear water again.

Honest reports as ever lads and no BULL!!

    Tight lines

  • 07/05/2016 Fishing Report by Colin Penny on Flamer IV (Weymouth, Dorset)

7 May 2016 by Colin Penny

    Report on-board Flamer IV

Bill Walton and friends from Devon enjoyed two sessions fishing at anchor to the East of Weymouth along the Jurassic coast using light tackle. They caught Black Bream, Smooth Hounds and Thornback and Spotted Rays along with the usual Dogfish and Pouting. Pictured is Nick Payne with a 7Ib 12oz Thornback Ray he caught on 6Ib class tackle with strips of mackerel and squid being the successful bait which was mounted on a Sakuma size 2/0 stinger hook on a flowing trace with colored beads on. We must not forget Bill Walton who caught the first Black Bream and species number 27 caught on Flamer IV this year and Bill also did a sterling job of catching plenty of Dogfish so the other guys could catch the Rays etc.

The next Reef/Bank Trips on Flamer IV with places available are on May 22nd, June 4th. Don't Miss Out.

  • 07/05/2016 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

7 May 2016 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    07.0516.

With the current Algae in the water linked with massive tides, the inshore fishing is very slow indeed at present, so we had a run to the deeper waters out on the 30 mile grounds today. The Algae was out there too but not in the same quantity.
The lads managed a respectable 40 or so fish with Codling to around 6lb, Ling to a shade under 12lb and a handful of Pollack.
All in all a nice day for the lads and when we broke through the fog at 20 miles, nice and warm for a change too!!
    Cheers
    Rich
