    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Just a catch up on latest trips to be honest we havent bothered with any photos as the fishing has over the past month been nothing but whiting and flatties and the odd codling thrown in, most weekends have been cancelled due to the storms particularly the bank holiday lost 4 days! On a positive note fishing has improved few early skate appearing on the lines not far off so wont be long before numbers turn up for us. Unfortunately still catching whiting plenty yesterday all day few decent ones among them actually. Caught our first smoothound of the year yesterday small but a start great to see and now everybodys favourite the dreaded spotty dogs are in but giving us sport you cant knock even though there a pest! No flatties for us yesterday but huge tides at the mo now decreasing nice to see a couple of pouting inshore came aboard as well. So in all its looking like spring is starting another boat caught small codling today could be the start of a spring codling run only time will tell lets hope so! Those interested in a few night time sessions please contact us get your name down as wind is dropping at night now thank god, still leaving about 6pm return at midnight so you can still go to work next day proving very popular last year better than watching Eastenders i reckon. So hopefully pictures will be back on when something worth photographing appears do look at summer dates as places going all the while book to avoid dissapointment. Leave it with you until then tight lines everyone.

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Well I agree with everyone, that this weekend you could not go wrong on the Thornback rays...!! there seems to be biblical amounts just about everywhere..
As with all things it wont last too long so make the best of it while you can, undoubtedly fresh Herring is by far the best bait to use, and it is relatively cheap... so it's a win win situation at the moment..
I don't know how many we had over the weekend, all I know is me and Nicola didn't stop running from the bow to the stern with the net, we didn't even get to do the clay shooting yesterday even thought the guys wanted to have ago....!! we just ran out of time....lol
I have an idea how many we caught but I would not publish the amounts but it was good fishing too say the least.... and only 17 minutes from our port of Bradwell...... mind you we were steaming at 27 knots so not as close as you might think..... Oww I can hear the cogs turning...lol
Here are a few photos of Sat/Sun.........Tight lines
Oh bye the way Brad... if you want to go on Thursday can you let me know please as I have not heard back from you ... cheers bud.

8 Apr 2016 by Carl Farrar

    Report on-board TROT- ON

A difficult weekends fishing this week. With MASSIVE tides and a mixture of weather we had several novice anglers on board this weekend, Some like John from leeds who was a member of a stag party whose ages ranged from 20-70. John had never caught a fish before but with a little tuition on the tackle managed to catch his first ever fish which made him a very happy chappie. The lads enjoyed themselves and re-booked to go with Whitby's Premier Charter Boat "Trot On" again.

Friday saw us winning the WCSA daily prize in the W.C.S.A. spring festival with a ling of 6lb+ caught by Whitby local P. Franklin
Trot On is at time of posting this report still leading the festival with a 16lb+ cod that could land the winner £1000 winnings This was Trot On's 3rd day at sea in this years spring festival and the 3rd daily win.

Oskar from Castleford was also aboard with us on Friday.
He caught his first ever fish, A Pouting which was returned Showing Anglers of all abilities, Catch fish when aboard with Paul Eddon at the helm.

Trot on and her sister boat Alliance are running a monthly heaviest fish award with the winner getting a free trip so you have a chance of 2 trips for the price of 1

  • 05/04/2016 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

5 Apr 2016 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    05.04.2016.

To be perfectly truthful, the fishing here at Whitby over the last week or so hasn't been particularly startling. This has been mainly down to the huge tides we have just had and a slight discolouration in the water.

Neil Avery and his team joined the boat today and had a slow day all in all. Some 20 odd fish for the boat that's all.

The lads weren't disappointed though as, as always, 150% effort was put in on the day by all the lads and crew.

Colin Middleton took the best fish of the day with a cod of 6 lb 10 oz.

Cheers and tight lines as ever

    Rich.

  • 04/2016 Fishing Report by Scott Belbin on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)

    Apr 2016 by Scott Belbin

    Report on-board Galloper

Its been another busy month here in the thames estuary. Fishing was hard at times earlier in the year due to the low water temperature but after a couple of weeks of warmer weather the fishing has turned a corner and fishing has picked up everywhere. There are good numbers of thorn-back rays showing inshore now and some good fish amongst them too. now they have arrived in force we shouldn’t loose many days to weather as we can find good fishing even in the shelter of our estuary. There are several whiting and dogfish showing with them. There is still the chance of an elusive cod (and they have been all to elusive) and I would be surprised if a few made a showing before summer arrives.
The other day we managed our first offshore trip in a while with some good results. There was a mix of lads aboard with some beginners and some experienced anglers amongst them. There was a bit of breeze to start with but it was quite manageable and good enough to get where we wanted. after a good steam we eventually got anchored and started fishing. We were hoping to see a spurdog or two but they don’t spend much time in our area so its hard to predict when they will appear. As it happens Rolf was bitten off on his first cast which may be frustrating but was a good sign that there may be some about. With the likely hood of catching these fish being slim around here its often hard to convince people to fish heavier snoods but it is usually worth it as the one that bites you off might be your only chance of the day. as it happens today there were several chances and it wasn’t long before our fish spurdog was aboard. In fact at times it was quite busy between them and dogfish and untangling and casting the hire rods out as well as making dodgy tea. By slack water we had a few spurs aboard. The biggest fell to nick at 14.6lbs then Rolf at 12.6lbs and another at 11.7lbs with a few more at 4-8lbs. this mark doesn’t usually produce much on the next tide but as we had seen a few we sat it out just in case. As the tide got going it became clear it wasn’t happening so we made a move to another mark. the tide was just getting under way here but the dogfish were already feeding hard. Stephen had the first notable fish which was a nice roker. After the rolf had a couple of spurdogs and then on the last cast he winkled out the first cod ive seen since the middle of January. A nice fish at 8lbs too and it finished the day off well. We had 11 spurs, a roker, a cod, a pouting and lots of dogfish.
I have a few spaces on offshore trips before the end of the month if you fancy facing the barrage of lesser spotted dogfish that are likely to be there. On the general trips for the next few weeks will be targeting thorn-backs with a chance of cod as well as the first of the smooth-hounds and bass that should show in the coming weeks. for more information, available dates and weekly updates please visit www.essexseafishing.co.uk or call 07956411528

It is some of the biggist tides of the year at the moment and the WCSA spring festival is underway and last 2 days of the competition we had dropped the ankhor as Uptiding seems to be the best option with the massive toads and the Algie bloom making fishing hard on the wrecks .

Here is a shot of the lads from Sunday with a few if there fish they around 40 cod upto 7 lb some very nice plump cod in very good condition caught in 60 ft of water .
